Chapter 58: Chapter 58
"You're wasting your time by calling him in your mind, Jazzie. I've already tricked your ex-husband's group elsewhere. But if he finds you here, you're already just corpses," Chaos spoke coldly.
"Why?" I asked hoarsely and then looked at him. "I trusted you, Chaos," I said weakly.
He smirked. "That's the plan, Jazzie. For you to trust me," he said.
I shook slowly and sighed then let out a laugh. "Is this necessary, Chaos? Does my son really need to be involved in the revenge you want¾that your family want?"
"My sister died in front of me, Jazzie. She shot herself," he stated.
"She killed herself. Your sister was the one who took her life, Chaos. Not me, not my son, neither Valjerome!" I snapped out of frustration.
Chaos clenched his jaw. I also saw the instant lifting of the gun that the old Hevion was holding and pointed towards my direction again. His wife just stopped him and motioned that Chaos will already taking care of the situation.
"Julina, my sister, pleaded to your ex-husband for a little attention. Just a little, Jazzie, just a moment..." he said hoarsely.
"You can't force someone to like us, Chaos," I murmured along with my streaming tears.
"She's depressed, Jazzie. And your ex-husband was aware of her condition. What is it if he did show just a little kindness to my sister," he insisted.
I just shrove and couldn't speak anymore. It's useless. Chaos and his family already had their plan. All I could do was pray fervently for my son's safety before the time they put into the bomb ran out.
As if I was being crushed over and over again while looking at Erom. He's still quiet, silently crying as he remained his head looking down. It was like he did it purposely to avoid seeing what's happening right now.
Ten minutes...
My son and I had only ten minutes before the bomb exploded. I bit my lower lip and burst into tears.
"You see this, Jazzie?" Chaos spoke.
I slowly lifted my head and froze when I saw a detonator on his hand. Chaos smirked after seeing my reaction.
"C-Chaos," I stuttered, fear spread out all over my body.
"How should I kill you? Should I just let the bomb explode by itself or...should I press this?" He played the device on his hand.
I swallowed hard. "C-Chaos, please," I pleaded then cried out loud.
Lord, please, even if it's just my child. Even if only Erom will be saved. I’m begging you, Lord.
Valjerome, please…save our child.
"Press it already," Chaos' father said coldly.
"No, no, please, Chaos! Kill me, instead. Just kill me, not my son. Please!" I shouted panicking.
He scoffed then slowly took his steps away. My heart pounded even more when he did that. I know he is just preparing for him not to be hit by the impact of the bomb.
I faintly closed my eyes as I cried incessantly. "Val...please..." I begged in a whisper.
At these times I want to hug my child tightly. I want to kiss him over and over again. But I couldn’t because of the binding they made on me.
"Good bye to both of you," I heard Chaos spoke.
At that moment, I already prepared myself. I accepted that nothing will really happen.
"I'm sorry, Erom. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you, my prince ..."
As if on cue, a loud explosion echoed in the whole place. I thought I lost blood in the passing seconds, I was deaf and numb.
My son...
I trembled in fear.
No...This cannot be.
"Fvck! Secure the area!"
I just came back to myself again when I heard Chaos’ angry voice. I slowly opened my dim eyes and looked back at my son. Tears welled up in my eyes when I saw Erom's intact body
'Thank you Lord.' I sincerely thought in my mind, looking at my son who's still breathing fine.
A series of gunshots rumbled outside. I couldn't help but cry even more because of that.
"Y-Your father...is finally here," I informed my child.
It is still dangerous and we may not be sure of our safety but I somehow felt a little hope when Valjerome arrived.
"What happened to the operation? Why is that stupid here?!" Chaos shouted.
He was on his phone, talking to his men. I bit my lower lip and felt my phone on my thigh.
It worked. Valjerome checked my location according to the GPS¾the reason why he's here and not on the place where Chaos framed them up. Somehow, I felt happy for a short period of time. I did something useful.
A few more minutes later the sounds of gunshots were getting closer and closer to the location where we were. Chaos men became attentive. They immediately blocked the way as they waited for Valjerome's arrival.
"Get the child, Chaos," the old Hevion commanded.
The excessive nervousness returned to my chest. I tried to get away from the ropes but just like before, it was useless.
"No! Chaos, just take me. Just use me, instead!" I beg him as he was approaching our place. "What are you going to do with my son?!" I shouted when he finally dragged Erom.
"Shut up!" A gunshot rang out in the room as the bullet hit the front of my foot.
Chaos' father pointed the gun at me. "You should be thankful that I want to see your ex-husband suffer first before I kill you. Because if I am not, I've already finished the two of you," He smirked. "I don't know how that animal tracked down this place. But maybe it's nice that he's also here, so that I can personally see him suffering while I am killing you and your son. After that I will kill him next. You will all die in my hands."
"I'll kill you first before you hurt my family."
I stiffened when I heard that baritone voice. Slowly, I glanced at his location.
His finally here...
Valjerome's gun was pointing at Chaos' father even though he was a few feet away. His men, on the other hand, were also exchanging gunpoints with the opponents¾seemed like they were waiting for a wrong move then they will all fire.
The old Hevion laughed sarcastically. "Don't you see your family's situation? I am holding their lives," he scoffed.
Valjerome's jaw tightened then slowly turned to look at me, he then looked at Erom. His eyes became soft the moment he stared at our son.
"Just one wrong move, your son's body will explode, Valjerome," Chaos' father stated.
"What do you want?" he asked coldly.
"I want you to suffer," the old man answered immediately.
"Make me then. Just release my child and his mother," Valjerome uttered, emotionless.
"Valjerome," I called, there was the disapproval in my voice to his decision.
He looked at me and then gave me a small smile. "Everything will be okay," he assured.
I shrove and then cried.
They will kill you.
"Chaos," the old Hevion called. "Bomb the child. Press the detonator," he ordered.
"No! Don't!" I shouted. "Have mercy. Chaos! Please!" I pleaded for the nth time.
"Fvck!" I heard Valjerome cursed.
He was about to take his move when Chaos' men aimed a gun on my forehead. He couldn't move anymore and just kept cursing. I knew how hard this was for him. He has the ability to fight, but the situation was stopping him to do anything.
"Fvck you, Chaos! I'll kill you when something bad happens to my son!" he yelled along with his bloodshot eyes.
Chaos smirked devilishly and distanced himself from Erom. My son was left in his position, stooping low and not doing anything.
"No! Please! Not my child!" I cried out loud.
I saw how Chaos lifted the detonator. His thumb gradually landed on there.
"Papa..." Erom's head lifted slowly. "I love you, Papa." He gave him a genuine smile as his tears were streaming down on his face.
I just cried while watching my son. Until the end, despite of his betrayal, Erom still acknowledged him as his father. He was still able to say those words.
"Do it now, Chaos!" Mr. Hevion shouted in anger. "Idiot! You really are useless!" he continued.
The next thing happened, stunned me.
Along with the deafening sound of a gunshot, Chaos body...protected my child. He got shot on his chest.
"Papa!" Erom yelled with his cries.
A few more gunshots rang out around. I didn't pay much attention to that because I kept my eyes in my son's direction.
"Papa! No! Don't leave me, Papa!" my son pleaded when Chaos' body fell onto the floor.
I felt the rope loosen on my body. Jaime untied it while the others are protecting him. I also saw Valjerome exchanging gunshots with the rest of the opponent while the Hevion couple was bloodily and lifelessly lying on the floor.
Blood.
Bullets.
Corpses.
This is a battle that no one would ever dream to witness. Trembling and running out of energy, I tried to move to reach my son.
Erom was sitting, crying and begging to Chaos not to leave him. "P-Papa, let's go home. Papa..." my son spoke between his sobs, stroking Chaos face.
I slowly sat next to Erom and stared blankly at Chaos. His eyes were full of tears, I could see the guilt and regret on it.
He slowly raised his left hand towards my son's face. "I'm sorry," he whispered softly. "I'm sorry for...hurting you." He wiped the tears from Erom's cheeks.
"I already forgave you, Papa," my son replied.
Chaos smiled and closed his eyes tightly as he groaned.
"Chaos/Papa!" Erom and I called at the same time when he coughed up blood.
I just burst into tears while watching Chaos having trouble in breathing. Yes, I hated him but I didn’t want him to die. He opened his eyes again and then smiled at Erom.
"Thank you... Thank you for treating me as a father. Thank you..." He breathed in deeply, "For being my son."
Erom shook his head. "H-hold on, Papa..." Erom said in his cracked voice. "We are going home."
I held my breath when Chaos released the detonator. He turned his attention to me and smiled sparingly.
"Defuse the bomb. It's..." he trailed off and groaned in pain, "Erom's birthday," he continued.
I immediately picked it up when I saw that there was only about a minute left in the bomb. I quickly entered my son's birthday while my tears were running down through my cheeks.
The timer finally stopped. Tremblingly, I released the detonator and met the sight of Chaos.
"Why?" I asked weakly. "Why did you save my son?"
He smiled at me. "Because he's my son, too."
I bit my lower lip to stop myself from sobbing.
"I hated you..." Chaos stated and closed his eyes. "But... I am also thankful because you lent me your son," he added.
"I...was an outcast in my family. My real father...didn't accept me. My foster father...didn't love me. My mother...looked at me as a mistake. I-I…only had my sister, "even though he was having a difficulty, he still tried to tell the story.
"She was the only one...who treated me as a family. That's why I got hurt when she died. I feel...my world has completely collapsed. That's why...I planned to avenge her. Coincidentally...my family wants it too. "
"I planned it...from the very start. Ever since the two of us met¾at the party, at the photoshoot, when I hid you from your husband, when I moved away from you so you two could get back together¾it's all in the plan to make it more painful for your ex -husband."
Chaos tried to laugh, but blood rushed out from his mouth.
"Papa!" cried my son.
"D-Don't speak anymore, Chaos. Save it, we'll bring you to the hospital," I growled as I cried.
"It's funny, you know?" he spoke again. "Because in the end... I still fell in love with you." A lone tear escaped from his eyes. "I'm sorry, Jazzie..." he whispered.
I just nodded repeatedly. "I forgive you. Now, please. Fight back."
He shook his head then stared at me and my son. "Thank you...for coming into my life. Thank you...for giving me a real..." Chaos eyes closed slowly.
"Chaos/Papa!" Erom and I exclaimed simultaneously.
His lips curled up. "Family."
"Papa!" Erom shouted when Chaos' head fell on the side.
My son repeatedly tried to wake Chaos but he never looked up or spoke again.
"That's enough, son. Papa is gone, let's give him a rest." I burst into tears and then hugged him tightly.
We were in that situation when the noise ended. Only my son's sobs could be heard throughout the room.
I saw Valjerome walked towards us. He knelt down to face us and then gently wiped away our son's tears.
"Let's go home," he said hoarsely and looked at the lifeless Chaos. "Let's give your Papa a proper burial."
Erom nodded softly even though he was still sobbing. Valjerome first removed the bomb attached to him and then carried him up.
I was about to stand up when my eyes widened after seeing Chaos' father, weakly aiming the gun at Valjerome.
One...
Two...
Two gunshots clamoured as I felt the pain in my body.
"Mommy/Jazzie!" my son and ex-husband called in unison.
I just smiled sparingly and slowly closed my eyes.
This time ... I was able to protect both of you.
