Chapter 57: Chapter 57

Valjerome's men couldn't do anything when the van took me. They couldn't shoot just because I was already in the car.

"We already have her," said one of the passengers while holding a phone.

I’m sure Chaos is the one he’s talking to. I just sighed quietly and then leaned back in the chair. I didn’t fight back or make any mess. Aside from the fact that I don’t have the energy for that, I know it’s useless if I make a scene. In the first place, I chose this.

I feel the observation of the men I am with. They are watching me as if I can still do something at these times. I mentally shook my head and forced a smile.

There is only one thing I can do now, that is to let Valjerome know my location.

I bit my lower lip when I felt my phone vibrated on my thigh. It was hidden and I made sure no one would notice. By these times, I knew Valjerome already knew I had joined the opponents. Maybe he’s also the reason my phone vibrates. Even if I can't answer his call, the phone I'm carrying will help him track my location.

I remained wary of my actions. I marked in my mind every turn we made. Even the duration of our trip, I remember as well.

Thirty minutes have passed and the van finally stopped in front of an old building. Guards were scattered as they were holding high-calibre guns. I still want to laugh because what I see in the shows is true. I thought Chaos's underlings would take me to a mansion.

My invisible smile faded slowly when an idea sank in my mind.

A trap.

I looked around. Again I remembered that almost all of Valjerome’s people were not in the mansion, including him. At those times I knew they had rushed to the opponents, but...what is this?

No fight.

No chaos.

My chest throbbed in great fright and nervousness. The idea that Chaos had tricked them into going somewhere else kept popping into my mind.

One of Chaos' guards pushed me when I got stuck onto my feet. There I refocused my attention on what was happening. Some of the men I am with started walking so I could do nothing but quietly follow. My eyes were simply watching everything we passed by. I climbed a few more floors before I finally saw Chaos sitting in a regular chair, on the other side of him was the familiar face of his parents.

I gritted my teeth and fisted my hands.

All along, they have been fooling us.

At this moment, I could now fully understand why Chaos' parents dislike me or my child. I couldn’t help but let out a sarcastic laugh.

"You planned it well, Chaos. You betrayed me, big time," there was a slight disappointment despite the disgust at my tone.

He didn't speak. Chaos just stared at me then stood up slowly from his seat.

"It was all your ex-husband's fault, Jazzie," he said.

I scoffed. "Why? Did Valjerome shoot your sibling?" sarcastically, I asked.

I groaned when a gunshot rang out. At the same time the pain in my shoulder worsened. I glanced at the person who did it, the head of their family, Mr. Hevion.

"Do not disrespect my son's death," he threatened as the gun he was holding remained pointed in my direction.

I froze and tried to control the anger that was building in my chest. Instead of focusing on him, I just faced Chaos again.

"Where is my son?" I asked coldly.

He licked his lower lip and started to walk forward. The two of us were only a few feet away when he stopped.

"Do you really think I will follow the agreement?" he mocked.

I forced a smile as I stared at him. "I know you won't abide by the agreement, but...I trusted. I trusted that even for Erom...you wouldn't involve him in this."

Chaos jaw clenched. "Why would I?" he faked a laugh. "He's not my child," he stated.

I couldn't move after he said those words. Even though it is true that he is not the real father of my child, it still hurts me to accept what he said. He was there when Erom's growing. He was there all the time—being a father figure to my child.

"P-Papa ..."

I quickly looked at the source of the familiar voice. My heart seemed to pound as I watched my son stare at Chaos. Even though he is far from me, I could see tears forming in the corners of his eyes.

"Papa," he repeated, there was an evident hope in his voice. "Papa...l-let's go home, papa."

His lips were quivering. At this moment, my heart broke for my child.

Chaos's gaze turned to him slowly. He looked at my son without any emotion and then turned to the guard beside Erom.

"Tie him," he ordered.

I could clearly see how Erom's shoulder dropped at the same time as he bowed his head. The silent crying of my son also did not escape my sight.

"Chaos, please... have mercy on my child," I faintly pleaded.

His eyes went back to me. "Tie that one too," he said.

"Chaos, please!" I begged again as his men went through my side.

They put me next to my son and then made us sit in a chair before tying us onto it.

"Erom, baby, are you okay? Don't worry everything will be fine. I-It's just...a joke. Yes, son. It's all just a joke," I comforted my son who remained bent forward.

A lone tear escape my eyes when he didn't even bother to lift his head for me.

"Attach the bomb to the child."

I stopped breathing when I heard the old Hevion's command. Tremblingly, I turned my head in their direction.

He looked directly at me. I could see the anger and hatred in his eyes.

"Please..." I whispered hoarsely as tears fell on my cheeks. "Please...not on my child. Just put it on me, instead. Please."

"Please?" Chaos' father laughed sarcastically and stood up from his seat.

He walked over to me and then violently grabbed my jaw. Although I wanted to complain, I avoided making any noise so as not to scare my child.

"Did your stup*d husband listen when my daughter begged for his little attention?" full of the old man's grunt. "What's with you, huh? Why is that bullsh*t Mafia boss so mad at you? Is it because of your body?" He then scanned me from head to toe.

"Because of that animal, I lost a child. He pretended to be an honest man, yet he's just like his father. Useless cheaters!" the old man shouted with full of anger.

He gave me another strong slap and then grabbed my jaw again to raise my face to him.

“All of you who are important to him, I will kill you all. I will make his life miserable," he declared.

I just closed my eyes and cried when he violently released my jaw. He walked away again and went to the side of his wife. I don’t know if I’m going to be thankful that my son stayed leaning forward or scared because he wasn’t even moving an inch.

"Chaos! Chaos, please!" I chanted when their men started to attach the bomb onto my innocent child. "Chaos! Have mercy, please!" I groaned pleading as I struggled in the my seat.

He didn't pay any attention to me. Instead he just took out the phone and then put it in a phone holder.

"Give us a good show, Jazzie. This is just the last time he'll see you and your son," he said coldly.

No...no... Val, save our child, please.
