Chapter 36: Chapter 36
Valjerome let out a cold laugh. "Erom is my son," he corrected.
Chaos smirked and smiled playfully. "Last time I checked, he's my son."
"You two, enough," I immediately sighed then shielded Chaos.
I will admit that I was nervous about the situation. Valjerome and I may have been separated for a few years but I know him. He's a mafia boss. In just a snap, he could kill if he wanted to and that was the last thing I wanted to happen right now.
"Valjerome, let us leave," I said emotionlessly.
He looked at me, giving me back the emotionless stare. "I have three more days to be with you, Jazzie," he said.
I clenched my jaw. "With my son, Valjerome. Not with me," I emphasized.
He licked his lower lip. "Still, you're not going anywhere. You and my son." He glared at Chaos who's standing behind me.
"What else do you want? You've been with and touched Erom. That's enough, whether a week is complete or not, we're still going and leave."
"You won't leave until you forgive me."
I gapped and then laughed sarcastically. "Is this what we're going to talk about again, Valjerome?" annoyingly I said. "Then fine! If that's what you want, I forgive you. Now, let us go."
I saw him clenching his jaw. "Do you really want to go with that man?" He pointed the man behind my back.
With my emotionless eyes, I stared at Valjerome. "Yes. He's my fiance and also the father of my child. Why would I not?" I asked back.
He fought my eyes. "Then leave our child to me. I will bring him back after three days.”
I fisted my hands. I shrugged my shoulders in rage boiling in my system.
How dare him to tell that in front of me?
My attention just shifted to Chaos when he walked over to my side and held my hand.
"Let me handle this," he assured.
Both Chaos and I turned at Valjerome when we heard cocking of a gun. I was rooted in place when I saw Valjerome aiming the gun at Chaos.
"Let her go," he threatened emphatically, his jaw tightening and the expression on his face is dark.
But instead of obeying, Chaos held my hand tighter. "I will only listen to her," he uttered.
I swallowed and could not speak when I saw the Valjerome’s stare getting sharper.
"C-Chaos," I whispered.
He instantly looked at me and smiled. "It's okay. We will go home," he swore.
I shrieked when a gunshot echoed.
"Chaos!" my eyes widened when I saw his shoulder bleeding
He moaned softly but remained standing and did not sway by Valjerome’s intimidation. He glanced at him and gave a sarcastic laugh.
"Chaos!" I wept.
"Don't touch me. Go on, kill me," he challenged my ex-husband.
"Chaos, what are you doing?!" I cried frustratingly as I pulled his other arm. "Stop it!" I shouted and looked at Valjerome.
"What else do you want, Valjerome?! How long are you going to torture me?!" I couldn’t help but vent my resentment.
"I'm not torturing you, Jazzie. You're torturing me!"
"Because you deserve it!" I yelled as I tried to control my tears. "After what happened between the two of us, after what I went through, what do you expect? To treat you well?! To forgive you easily?! My child is gone, Valjerome!"
He could not answer back.
"I let you get close to Erom even though I don't want to. I let you despite of my fear that you would hurt him because somehow I trusted the care you show for him. But please, that's all I can give. That's all I can do. That's all I can bear with."
He shook his head and weakly lowered his gun.
"I have my reasons, Jazzie..." he said hoarsely as his eyes turned red as he started crying.
"Reason that even if I have heard it, I would not ever accept it,” I coldly swore.
I saw the pain in his eyes.
"Do you think that I didn't think you had a reason, Valjerome? During the times we were separated, I always wondered what your reason was. Aren't you ready to be a father yet? Can't you really accept me? Do you love someone? It all comes to my mind over and over again. I thought too much what was the reason, the pain, the fear that caused the death of my other child.
I let my tears flow as I tried to smile despite the pain I was feeling.
"Now tell me, Valjerome. Can your reason erase all the pain I am feeling?"
A lone tear escape from his eyes. I saw the movement of his throat but he never tried to speak anymore.
"PAPA!"
We were all stunned when we heard Erom’s voice. He was running towards our direction. His happy face from seeing Chaos gradually became anxious when he saw his arm bleeding.
"Papa, you're bleeding!" he uttered when he's finally in front of Chaos.
Chaos tried to smile at him but Erom's eyes immediately went to Valjerome. Slowly, his attention went to the gun he was holding.
"Y-You hurt my Papa?" my son asked unbelievably.
Valjerome went back to his senses. He quickly gave his gun to Jaime and kneeled in front of my child.
"Hey." He tried to hold Erom but he quickly walked away and then hugged Chaos' leg.
"You're bad! I thought you're a good guy but you're bad!" Erom shouted and cried at the same time.
I gulped and could not immediately move on what was happening. I saw the pain in Valjerome's eyes grew bigger as I stared at my son who was mad at him.
"Baby..." he murmured."D-don't get mad at me, please," he muttered constantly.
"No! You're bad! That is maybe the reason why Mommy isn't talking to you because you're really bad!"
It was like my heart was squeezing as I saw them both. I may be angry with Valjerome but seeing him being hated by my son, I can’t help but be hurt for him.
Valjerome tried to approach and comfort Erom but he repeatedly pushed him away.
"Get away from me! You're bad! Mommy's right, I shouldn't be talking to a stranger!"
From there, Valjerome was frozen. He seemed to have completely lost his strength and gave up.
"Papa," Erom said as he looked up at Chaos. "Let's go home, Papa. I don't want to be here anymore."
Chaos slowly bent down and picked up my crying child. He caressed Erom's back as soon as he hugged his neck to cry on him.
"Don’t cry. Let's go home," he consoled then looked at me. "Go on, get your things inside."
"I'll ask Manang to send it," Valjerome said weakly. Remained on the ground and leaning down.
Slowly, he lifted his head and looked at me with his bloodshot eyes. "Take him away," he said weakly, the pain is evident in his voice.
Valjerome stood up slowly, stared at my son for a moment and without warning turned his back on us.
"I hope this is enough to pay for everything I've done to you..." I heard him whisper before he could finally get away.
