Chapter 18: Chapter 18
"Erom," I softly woke up my son.
He let out a whimper and then slowly opened his little eyes. I automatically greeted him with a smile.
"Get up, son. We will get ready for school," I said while massaging his hair.
Erom is five years old so he is currently attending Kindergarten.
My son raised his hands in the air. "Hug, Mommy," he said.
I chuckled and pinched his tiny nose. "My baby is so sweet as always,” I said then I bent down to hug him.
"Good morning, my most beautiful mom," he greeted.
My heart melted at the simple appraisal of my son. I have always been receiving good criticisms from people who admire me, but it really hits different when it comes from your child.
I broke our hug and looked at him. "Hmm. What does my prince need?"
He giggled and rose up from the bed. He hugged me again and squeezed himself into my body.
"Can I come with you tomorrow, Mom? Promise, I will behave," he swore.
I just smiled and kissed him on the head. "Don't you want to hang out in your Dad's office?" usisa ko.
Weekends are coming. Usually, when he doesn’t have classes, Chaos takes him to the office.
Erom distanced himself. "I heard Papa will be busy tomorrow. They have..." He trailed off and acted thinking.
I laughed softly when he scratched his head so hard that he probably couldn’t pronounce or remember what he wanted to say.
"Is it a conference meeting, dear?" I continued.
He nodded quickly in succession.
I sighed and caressed his hair. "But Mommy will surely be busy tomorrow. Is it okay for you to stay in the staff's room when I’m cleaning?"
"It is okay Mom. I can play with Tito Ken when you are away," he answered.
I smiled. I could not help but admire my son’s ability to comprehend despite his young age.
"Let's go? You might be late for school," I said and then stood up.
He nodded and started preparing himself. I bit my lower lip as he deliberately made his bed, even though it's not that polished, I can say that he did very well.
"Let’s go, Mommy," he said then pulled me lightly by the hand.
I chuckled and shook my head with disbelief. Wondering why my son was growing too fast.
Just like my normal daily routine; I bathed him; fed him; dressed him and so on. I'm glad you did, although it's tiring at some times.
"Don't fight at school, okay?" I order while Erom puts on his bag.
"I'm a good boy, Mommy. I don’t fight," he said.
"That's my son," Chaos voice butted in.
I looked at the door where he was standing as he smiled watching the two of us.
"Papa!" Erom shouted joyfully then ran towards Chaos.
Chaos immediately bent down to carry my son. "Hey, buddy. Are you ready for school?" he asked
My son nodded and then turned to look at me. "Will you come with us to school, Mommy?"
I looked at my watch before answering. "It's still early. Okay, I'll come," I replied to him.
Erom applauded happily. Chaos and I just laughed at him.
"I will take you also to work after," Chaos said to me.
I just nodded and took my bag from the couch. "Come on. I might get late for work," I said and walked over to them.
We left my condo together. Chaos remained carrying Erom until we got in his car.
"I'll take Erom tomorrow," I told Chaos as we were in the middle of our trip.
He turned his gaze to me for a moment and then returned to the road. "Is it okay? I mean, aren't you busy?" he asked for assurance.
"When did I become not busy?" I laughingly said.
I heard him smirked. "I told you, work in my company instead," he uttered.
I glared at him and peeked at Erom in the back of the car. "I'm okay with a simple life," I swore.
Chaos sighed, but didn't bother to speak anymore. He knew that I was determined to live this simple life, far from any trouble.
Far from him.
I was out of myself when I held my neck. My eyes were widened when I noticed my missing necklace. I immediately went and peeked at the car carpet, hoping to find it there.
"What's wrong?" Chaos asked.
I glanced at him. "My necklace, it is missing," I answered.
His forehead furrowed, "Which necklace?"
I did not answer right away. I just closed my eyes tightly and leaned back in my chair.
"The one I bought last year," I lied and looked out the window.
Why am I still wearing it anyway?
"Maybe you just left it at home," Chaos uttered.
I turned to him and then faked a smile. "I hope so."
It took us 20 minutes to reach my son's school. Chaos and I accompanied Erom to his room. We happily bid goodbye before we left him.
"THANK YOU, Chaos," I said as I got out of his car.
I am now in front of the building where I work.
"You are always thanking me," he said with a trace of annoyance.
I chuckled as I stayed outside his car. "Because I am really thankful to you," I sincerely said.
He scoffed and leaned against his seat. "We're family, Jazzie. It is my obligation to take care of my son and his mother."
I genuinely smiled at him. "That's why I am so grateful, Chaos. You treated us like a real family even though you don't have to."
"Erom is my son, period," he emphasized.
I just smiled and nodded. "Yeah, he's your son," I stated.
He stared at me then a playful smile appeared on his lips. "Should we make a daughter later?" he mocked.
My face turned red to what he said. "You are really crazy, Chaos!" I just shrove and then finally walked away from his car.
He just laughed as he watched me.
"Go to work, you just lack in talking," I said then finally closed his car.
He blew the horn three times then he started his car. I watched him disappear from my sight before I entered the company.
My forehead knotted when I noticed the other staff busily cleaning and arranging several things. They seem to be preparing for someone to come.
"Who is it this time?" I talked to myself as I continued walking.
"Jazzie!" my supervisor called when she saw me.
I quickly approached her. "Yes ma'am?" my asked politely
She pulled out a keycard and handed it over to me. "We have an important guest today. From now on, you’ll be the one cleaning the suite. Don't make mistakes, okay?" she widened his eyes at me.
Although I wanted to grimace, I restrained myself. "Noted, Ma'am," I responded despite of my desire to complain.
Whenever there is an important guest at the hotel, she always picked me up to serve for them. It's fun because they give a big amount of tip but at the same time it's scary because they might not like my job. Maybe that's what Stacey really wants to happen, so she always assigns me to VIP guests.
"Wait? This is the suite I cleaned yesterday," I couldn't help to talk when I noticed the keycard number.
"Why? Is there a problem?" Stacey said stuiverly.
I looked down immediately and shook my head. "Nothing, Ma'am. I'm just wondering why the guest did not take the big suite," I explained gently.
"You know, Jazzie. No matter what they take, we don't care about that anymore. Just make sure you're doing your work correctly!”
I secretly winced at her annoyed tone. I am not tampering with anything.
“Alright then, go to that suite and check it!" she exclaimed as she drove me away.
"Ahmm. Can I ask? Who is our VIP guest?" I asked hesitantly.
She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "Even if I tell you, you won't know each other either. But fine, since your compulsive, I'll tell you. He is only the CEO of the most famous construction company here in the Philippines," she said with a lot of admiration on her face.
My heart immediately pounded in nervousness the moment I heard the kind of company the guest was running.
Maybe it’s not him, is it?
"Mr. Valjerome Montevardo."
