Chapter 19: Chapter 19
"It is not possible, Jazzie. You know that Stacey will scold the both of us," Ken said.
"Please. Just three days," I pleaded as I pulled his arm.
Maybe he already checked out.
We are here in the staff's room where we can rest or relax.
"What is the problem that you don't want to accept your duty now?" he frowned curiously.
I stopped and looked away. I had been begging Ken for almost ten minutes to take care of the room which was given to me by our supervisor.
"I am just not feeling well so I need to rest for few days," I excused myself.
"Well, you do seem okay, I guess" Ken immediately said then felt my temperature on my forehead.
I began to tantrum and clung to his arm like a child. "Please?"
He sighed and combed his hair. "Just for one day, Jazzie. I still can't be tomorrow. We’ll get troubled if Stacey finds this out," he said.
I automatically jumped up and hugged him. "Thank you, thank you."
I'll just submit a sick leave to our head housekeeper. I'm sure it won’t be approved if I let Stacey know.
"Wait a minute, admit it, Jazzie," Ken said seriously and pulled me away from him.
I was nervous with his serious stare.
Is my actions too obvious?
"There's a ghost in that room, isn't there? So you’re acting like this!"
My lips parted to what Ken had said. I quickly closed it and started laughing.
"Ah, o-oo," that is all I could answer so he wouldn't be curious anymore.
He clacked while shaking his head. “And you’re believing those? It’s just your imagination," he said then put his arm around my shoulder. "Be grateful, you always got my back."
"What are you doing?!" a shrill cry of a familiar voice from the door.
Ken quickly pulled himself away from me and scratched his nape facing the flaming Stacey.
"Just having fun, Ma'am," he said.
Stacey didn't answer and just looked at me sharply. "Clean up rooms 16, 26 and 36!" she growled and then took the keycards of the said room from her pocket.
She roughly handed it to me and then turned her back on us. I rubbed my forehead and then looked at Ken who was now frowning as he watched the woman walk away.
"Just a little more and I am going to think that your ex-lover is an underling of Satan. All the room number she has given me has six in it," I muttered.
There he couldn't help but laugh then tapped me on the shoulder. "Think about it now." He let out a loud laugh and took a keycard from me. "Let me help you in some suite. After all, it is my fault why she blew fire on you
I rolled my eyes and went to my housekeeping trolley. "You know, court her again before she gets menopause. You won't be able to have children with her," I said with a grin.
"It's okay as long as the two of us are together," Ken replied.
I smiled lifelessly as I arranged the tools I was going to use. "That's also what I said before. But there are also times when you have to separate because you will eventually get tired with each other," I whispered.
"Are you saying anything, Jazzie?" asked Ken.
I glanced at him and smiled. "Nothing, I said stay strong to both of you then."
"Why does your greeting seem to come out from your nose? Do you have bitter gourd for lunch now?"
I leered at him and started pushing the trolley. "You’re like gay," I said then came out of the lounge.
"Hey! Jazzie, this also erects!" I heard Ken shout.
I just laughed and shrugged off. "Azy’s eggplant also stands up, you know," I said and bit my lower lip as I remembered my former manager's flirtiness.
I’ll admit, sometimes I miss modelling too. The attention, admiration and courage I get from there. But every time I think of that, my desire to give my son a peaceful life prevails more.
Erom may have recognized someone as his father now but I know that once I return to the old world I live in, they will question everything in my life.
I’m also scared that things about Erom will reach to Valjerome. He is a mafia boss. One command from him to kill whoever he wants to be killed will happen in an instant. I didn’t want to risk my son’s life especially that I knew he didn’t want to have children with me.
I’m just thankful that after a year of silence in the modelling industry, my name has immediately forgotten. I don't know why but I also heard from Azy that Valjerome stopped the spread of any statement. Maybe because he will also be questioned since we were trending in different news before.
I was walking down the hallway when I was stunned by the familiar voice which was only a few meters away from me.
Jaime!
I turned pale and quickly faced the wall, trying to hide myself as I notice him approaching to my direction.
Why didn't I think of that? Most likely Valjerome was also with his staff to protect him.
I pretended wiping the wall once Jaime passed me by. I almost held my breath at that moment¾afraid that he might recognize me even by the strand of my hair.
I sighed very deeply as he walked away from me and went off somewhere. I feel like even my blood flow stopped for a moment due to extreme fear.
I hurriedly went away to the fear that he would come back again. I went to the room where Stacey had ordered me to clean and tremblingly did my job. I had a nervous breakdown for almost ten minutes even though I only saw Jaime.
I sat on the bed for a while and tried to calm myself. I picked up my phone and searched for Chaos' number. I bit my lip and stuck it to my ear when I saw the call dialling in.
One, two, three. In the fourth ring he had already answered that.
"Chaos!" I immediately exclaimed.
"What happened? Why do you seem scared?" he inquired.
"C-Chaos, pick me up. Please..." I cried in frustration.
"Hey, calm down. What happened? Don't worry, I'll pick you up," he said.
"H-He's here. My ex-husband i-is here. I don't know how to get out. I'm scared, Chaos. What if, one of his underling saw me?" I said, frightened.
"Jazzie. Listen. Breathe, okay? You're just overthinking. Calm down, first," he said.
I just bit my lower lip and tried to follow what he said.
"Why are you afraid, Jazzie?" he asked gently.
"He might find out," I answered, calmer than before.
"Look. Erom is my son," he stated. "If he sees you, for sure he won't bother to pay attention to you. He's a mafia boss. If he was looking for you years ago, he can find you in a snap. Do you get my point, Jazzie?"
Slowly, realization hit me. Chaos was right. Even if we meet today, he'll not give a damn. He wouldn't bother to know more about my life because if he had a plan, he would have done it then.
"Calm down, okay? Breathe. As long as he hasn’t seen Erom yet, everything will be fine."
I just nodded even though he could not see it. "Thank you, Chaos," I said sincerely.
"Anything for you, Jazzie. Wait for me, okay? I just have to settle some things here first, then I will pick you up," he said and then turned off the call.
I took a deep breath and stared on the corner of the room. I smiled bitterly and burst out laughing once I thought of everything.
Yeah, he won't give a damn, Jazzie. Not a single freakin 'damn.
