Chapter 106: Chapter 106

I had trouble falling asleep. Despite spending hours gazing at the ceiling, I haven't yet felt drowsy. In the end, I simply made the decision to leave the room and prepare a milk in the kitchen.

"You are still awake."

I looked up at Daddy when he spoke. He had just entered the kitchen and was holding a tumbler. I smiled at him and raised my glass.

"I will just drink it," I replied politely.

He smiled back at me then went to the fridge. "We're in the same house but I don't see you often anymore." He laughed softly. "How's work?"

"I am sorry, I was just busy trying to get make up for the kids. It's okay, Dad. There's no problem with the company." I avoided sulking when I remembered Agustine.

He is the only problem.

Dad came to me after refilling his tumbler. He stared at me for a moment as if he was looking for something in my face.

"You look stressed. Is it about Mr. Revelar?" he teased.

I could not stop myself from rolling my eyes. "Dad," I said making him laugh.

"Is he annoying you?" he was curious and simply drank from what he was holding.

Because he is the one who opened the topic about him. Maybe it's time to ask the things that are bothering me. I gently faced Daddy and gave him a surprised look.

"I heard he's still meeting you. How come that you two are okay? I mean, aren't you mad at him?"

"Hmmm." He acted thinking. "Yes, I am." He even nodded to support the answer.

He put the tumbler down on the bar counter for a moment and then faced me. Just like before, he looked at my face.

"When he first met me after you left, I even punched him," he added.

My eyes immediately widened. He just laughed at my reaction and took his drink again.

"I am mad at him because he hurt you, but then, I also realized that he's already suffering his karma. The kids," he explained.

I snorted and drank the milk I was holding. "Is that karma?" I whispered, just enough for him to hear.

Maybe it's even better for him that he does not know anything about children.

He merely seeks revenge, after all.

He smiled at me and gently patted my shoulder. "You still don't know a lot, Khrystal. Not that I am siding with him, though I admit that I am looking forward to seeing you two get along."

I snorted. Even wondering why Daddy's spoken words were like that, I couldn't help but be led by an objection. Not because I don't want to but because it's impossible.

"Do you still love him?"

"D-Dad." I was caught off guard by his question.

He just raised an eyebrow at me. "What? It is just a simple question." He shrugged.

"You know he has another family," I insisted.

He snorted quickly. "That's not connected to my question, Khrystal."

I don't know if he was teasing or joking in his tone. In the end it was just a pain I did.

"You used to be able to answer immediately, what are you looking like tha—"

"Daddy!" I blurted out, eyes widening slightly.

I also got red cheeks because of the way he was moving me.

His laughter resounded throughout the entire kitchen. "I am just asking, okay?"

"I-I do not. It’s been too long," I stated.

I don't understand if my answer is for him or for me.

"Hmmm, okay."

I glared at him. "Is there something you are not telling me, Daddy?"

"Well, let's just say I know something. But I'm not in a position to intervene or take the lead in telling you. Just like I know about the children, I am not in a position to tell him."

I immediately fell silent when the conversation about the children was brought up. I swallowed hard and stared at my cup. I heaved a deep breath after.

"I will tell him tomorrow," I whispered softly and glanced at Dad.

I did not see him panic even though there was a little wonder in his eyes. Slowly, his lips formed a smile, then he tapped my shoulder again.

"That's my daughter," he uttered and gave me a look of leaving.

I just nodded and watched him turn his back. When Daddy disappeared from my presence, something he said came back to my mind.

There's more I don't know?

I smiled bitterly.

"I don't want to know if that will destroy me even more."

The next day, my children and I were equally silent in the car. I can see the nervousness on their faces and I understand that because I too feel that way at this time. My heart almost burst out of my chest due to its intense pounding as the distance between us and the company decreased. The steering wheel of the car was almost wet because of the sweat on my hands.

"Are you okay, my babies?" I asked—though it was obvious that they are not comfortable at this moment—as I looked at them through the rear mirror.

Gia tried to smile and nodded, while Gio bit his bottom lip. Unlike his twin, he has a hard time pretending.

"Grandmama is here," said Mom who was in the middle of them and then hugged them.

"A-Are we almost there?" Gio's slang term (in tagalog).

I gave him a smile. "Yes, son. We will be in the company for about two minutes."

He did not speak after that. He just bent down and secretly played with his fingers. Gia, on the other hand, was once again looking outside the window of the car.

I sighed before turning my attention to the road. This is a big day for us. For my kids. Even if it's uncertain, I can't help but wish that everything goes well.

Please, don't destroy my kids' heart, Agustine.

If he really doesn't like children and can't accept them, I hope he doesn't say that or make my children feel it in front of me. Even if it's bad to pretend or lie, I'd rather do that than see them hurt badly.

I bit my lower lip as I looked at the company. I saw Mom whispering to the kids in the rear mirror, maybe she said we're here. They immediately sat up straight, as if even breathing they didn't know how to do. At least I can see in their eyes the longing for their father.

"We're here," I informed after parking my car.

I want to applaud myself because I was able to speak well.

"Ahmm. Let's go now?" I tried to smile at my kids.

They smiled back, Gio was about to nod when he was stopped in his tracks. It's like his eyes were fixed on something. Gia is the same.

When I traced their sight. My heart sank immediately. I immediately wished I could turn back time, I wish . . . I did not bring them with me today.

Once again, Agustine was with his family. He was standing outside his car while talking to his fiancee in front of him, holding their daughter in his left hand.

"Mom, can we go home instead?" It was Gia's shattered voice.
