Mary screeched her car into the compound and hastily alighted from it and made into her sitting room only to meet Tony and his two bullies sharing a bottle of whisky and pack of cigar from her bar. It was by chance that she didn’t mistake her sitting room for a night club. She pinned at the door, combed around the sitting room with her suspicious stare, to ascertain if more of his boys were perched at some corners of the sitting room.

She breathed hard and stared at Tony and his two boys; she was convinced now that it was only three of them and by her calculation her daughter was still upstairs or might have escaped through the window now. Quietly Tony stared at her while he smiled and sipped at his whisky. The other two boys didn’t care if she was around or not; as they chatted and murmured among themselves.

“Welcome back baby,” Tony said, clapped and started advancing to her. “First I want to appreciate you for the diamond ring. Yes that shit changed my financial life and I can tell you I am not going to be poor again.” He paused to draw from his cigar and later let a puff of smoke . “But you see my dear,” he continued, wealth is not same as love. You can spend all your life without wealth but you can’t spend all your life without love. I am not supposed to stand before you breathing. I was positioned for death, courtesy of you, yes you positioned me for death. You wanted to be sure of the love I have for you and I proved it. Mary ,sweetheart you have confirmed the love I have for you so what stops you from waiting for me all this while I was in coma, uh, knowing quite sure that you put me in coma. I spent six months of my fucking life battling with death, and you have the audacity to kiss a doctor in my presence, uh,” he said and was closer to her now.

He stretched his hand to her face and as he did, she fidgeted yet wasn’t scared to pull her face from his grip.. “You don’t need any prove again?” he asked and then smiled in a mocking way that left Mary to argue about his reason for coming. “No you don’t need any prove,” he said again.

“I never meant to put you in coma. Please forgive me Tony. The era we are in now is a practical era not theory. I just want you to understand that I forgot to return to your house to unchain your hands and feet. I forgot please forgive me, Tony.”

“You did what?” Tony snapped crazily,

“I am sorry for putting you in coma. I never meant to hurt you.” A tear trickled down her cheeks and then another one. Please Tony have mercy upon me for the pain and misery I caused you in this past six months.”

Tony shook his head, and paced up and down the sitting room, and clapped his hands , “It is OK you are forgiven this minute. Come on , come on,” he gestured at Mary to come into his hug as he opened his arms wide open for her.

But she didn’t do his bidding. She almost obeyed him but on second thought , she felt this pang of guilt that hit her in the head, also suspecting that Tony would do something stupid to her . She paused at her spot and would advance to Tony who was still at his smile and wide open arms.

“Come on,” Tony beckoned on her but she shook her head In disapproval. “Are you scared of me now. When you left me naked, chained to die of hunger and thirst was I scared of you?” Tony yelled at the top of his voice and started stroking his hair in anger, “I am alive and because I didn’t die I am going to possess what belongs to me and that is you!”

Mary wanted to keep to herself but she wondered from where came her boldness.

“Not anymore, Tony!” She snapped and molded a huge frown on her face just to let him know that they were standing on a toe now as regards their love and what they felt for each other.

Tony flashed a huge smile at her and smiled briefly at his other two boys who smiled also.

“I am in love with Doctor Frank now. As a matter of fact we will be getting married in few days. He is everything to me. Besides it is because of the love he has for me hat made him to put in his best to save you…!...” she wanted to speak yet further when Tony sneered at her and she flinched.

“Keep shut you pussy! Keep shut!” he sneered. “You promised to love me and gave me a task to do if indeed I could prove my love for you. I never hesitated and I obeyed. What do you all that? I was in love with you before your so called Doctor Frank. For your sake I was in coma. What do you call that?” he paused and gently threw his foot one after the other until he got to Mary and held her on the face. “You belong to me Mary, if I could fight with death over you and defeated him, who is Doctor Frank that I can’t defeat? I want you back. If you have given him your heart , you had better take it back because the owner of the heart is back from the land of the dead.”

“Is not going to be possible anymore, Tony. You are but a lad. You can fall in love with girls of your age bracket. I am far older than you, besides I don’t do sugar boys anymore. About the pain and misery I caused you to forgive me and understand that I never felt a thing for you in the first place. I was only catching clout with you …”

Tony interrupted with a chuckle, “Now you listen up ,pussy, hence forth, I want you to be grazing my bed and never want to Hera that mocker name Frank from you again, else…”

“Else what ?” Eva interrupted from the staircase pointing a gun at Tony…
