Chapter 229: Chapter 229

Chapter229

~Frank is my everything~

Frank dragged his cheeks in smiles wondering why he had been smiling sheepishly before a girl who has never smiled since he walked in through that door for over an hour now.

“This is Frank. He is a medical doctor and works at the Federal Clinic,” Mary introduced, motioning her hand to him, while she spoke to Eva.

Eva’s jaw sagged as she breathed ; feeling weak to be harsh at this man , who seemed to be welcomed into her heart already. Perhaps it could be because of his sensual cute smile that dug dimples into his cheeks whenever those smiles flashed. She had never found it easy with anybody before let alone men, the worst gender she had come to spite so much that she hated seeing them with her eyes. She couldn’t believe she was still cold and helpless, standing and beholding a man that returned home with her mother and may likely spend the night.

“Frank meet my only daughter and child, Eva,” she was as shy as her mother who did the introduction, as she blushed. She was shocked. First time to blush at a male visitor whom she never knew anything about.

Frank pushed out his broad hand for a warm hand shake and Eva didn’t hesitate to reciprocate by switching her hand to his and earned the warm handshake, one she had never had for over a decade now. She couldn’t recall the last time a man shook her hand with her or touched her

“You are welcome doctor frank,” Eva said and thought about sounding humorous perhaps for the first time in her life if she could guess. “You must be the man that has been making mom return home late of recent.”

Everyone burst into a noisy laugh that left their bodies trembling and teeth shining forth.

Choking back laugh, he groaned, “I must commend your good sense of humor.” Frank stared at Mary with eagerness and gratefulness and lost interest in the flute of wine that had been in his grip for a while now.

“Do make yourself comfortable,” Eva replied, pointing at a sofa right behind him.

Mary almost pinched herself at what was playing out before her. Eva being nice to a male visitor? This must be the chosen one; she thought. It had never happened in her life , since she started going out with men and bringing most of them home; the Eva she knew would have cursed him and chased him with a rifle, which she often hid in her room so that her mother wouldn’t take it away from her.

Frank sat down, crossed his legs , still keeping to his smile. I thought she said her daughter was always mad at male visitors; he said in his head.

Eva sat down too, casting her gaze at him. “So tell me what you know about my mom. I believe you guys must have known each other well by now,” she said.

Frank grinned briefly focusing on Eva and not really noticing that Mary was smiling at him right from the bar.

Well your mother is endearing , captivating and interesting to be with just like you,” he said and watched as the smile on her face died as soon as it came. “she is an angel, you don’t want to lose to the heaven’s

Mary’s hand was on her chest while Frank described her with engaging crisp words.

“Mom is that true about you?” Eva asked Mary, tilting her smiling face to her in a way that obviously showed he wasn’t going to be mad at this man or later now or later.

Mary shook her head and dimmed her eyes as Eva asked yet again.

“Are you in love with him?” Eva asked , folded her arms.

They cast their gaze upon Mary, watching , waiting in bated breath for her reply. Mary busied herself with the flute of wine which glued to her lips as she gulped down the red wine ; delaying her reply.

“Waiting, mom.” Eva reminded her with impatience hanging over her and she guessed it was same with Frank. Frank swallowed a dry lump down his throat, inwardly praying that Mary wouldn’t give a negative reply , since she had been behaving strange since he wanted to give her a surprise—introducing hr to his parents. It was obvious she was going to deny his love for her and most maddening that it would be done before her daughter.

She gritted, “Well, Frank has been a nice man to me. A man every woman would want to have to herself,” she stroked her gold blonde long hair, raising her brow at Eva to inform her she was done talking.

“is that all ?” Eva asked , widening her gaze at her mother, dazing her with her bulged eyes that asked her a million questions , “Is that all you could say about a man that claims to love you,” she asked yet further.

Mary bit her lower lip, contemplating and wondered if she was dreaming or not; could this be her daughter; Eva or another. Or did she know Frank from Adam. It was bizarre to see Eva playing a nice card to her male visitors. She was yet to believe her eyes.

She breathed hard, “OK I mean you don’t want me to reveal to you all that I feel for him. He knows what I feel for him, ok. I mustn’t tell you. We know what we share and feel for each other,” she sounded and blushed when Eva shook her head in disapproval.

“I must,” Eva added , “I would want to know if my mom is happy with this cute man well seated by my side or not. Trust me if you are not happy with him, I will walk him out and out of your life and that ends it.”

Frank’s brow furrowed in bewilderment.

Mary shot her stare at Eva, and knew what she was up to now. She didn’t know when her lips moved and said, “He is my everything…”

Something would soon happen that would make her shed tears…
