Chapter 59: Chapter 59
When Louis Hayden strode into the police superintendent office, as expected, Pamela was there, with her lawyer. Two officers were there, the police chief and a woman police officer.
"Thank you for honouring our invitation, Mr Hayden," Police chief Ambrose said, standing up and stretching his hand for a handshake.
"Thank you," Louis Hayden replied. He shook hands with him and did the same to the female officer and then glancing at Pamela's lawyer, he shook hands with him.
He stretched his hand to Pamela and the latter ignored his outstretched hand and looked away. A sight that is embarrassing to Louis Hayden.
He withdrew his hand and took a seat. Pamela just lost a winning point to him. She doesn't realise that she just created an impression before everyone seated.
He had deliberately offered her his hand, as a friendly gesture. But she missed his target and he won her. They are yet to commence the discussion but he was already winning.
Pamela's lawyer glanced at her and felt unsatisfied. Why didn't she accept his friendly gesture? She was wrong not to play along.
Pamela hissed between gritted teeth. He was putting on an act and she's not ready to play along with his tone. He had taken her kids forcefully and she wants them back, that's all.
"I'm glad you made it here within the shortest time…" the police chief began. He glanced at Louis and the latter was expressionless. Hence, he continued:
"The management of Best Brain Academy called to inform us that you came to take some kids away. This is not right, considering the fact that they don't know and you refused to sign the necessary documents.." the officer declared.
"I didn't come to take some kids, I only went there to get my children. And I didn't sign those documents, yeah because I didn't feel like wasting my signature" Louis Hayden arrogantly declared.
"Why didn't you at least seek the consent of the kids' mother before going to get them?" The police officer asked and Louis Hayden replied "that's because she didn't seek my consent before enrolling my kids in that school"
There was a few seconds of silence. Nobody said anything. The officers exchanged glances and Pamela's lawyer adjusted his glasses. Thinking how best to ask Louis a question.
"Do I need to seek your consent before doing what I feel is right for my kids?" Pamela blurted. She turned and glared at Louis in fury.
"Yes, you should have sought my consent because I am the father of your kids. And besides, why are you being offensive if I also decided to do what is right for them, huh, tell me Pamela?" Louis snapped at her.
"Because I am still the mother of the kids" she retorted "and I am still the father of the kids as well" Louis snapped at her arrogantly.
The argument was going to get heated when the police officers intervened. They pleaded with both of them to be calm. They should talk amicably and not fight over their children.
Pamela was unhappy. She tried to be calm. If it were back then when she had the power of her royalty and had the financial backbone of the P and D4 group, she would have fought with Louis Hayden to the end.
Pamela's lawyer coughed slightly. He wants them to go straight to the point and not stall for time unnecessarily.
"Mr Hayden, once again, I appreciate you for being here. This issue can be solved amicably and you both can return to your various activities for the day.
My client, Miss Johnson wants you to return her kids back. She wants to own the custody of the children and you are free to check on them every month.
She said she had told you that before. You both are adults and parents. You know these misunderstandings aren't good for the children. I respect you a lot and I know you would do just that and keep your children and their mother happy" He concluded and glanced at Louis.
Louis Hayden chuckled softly. This lawyer is good at oratory and persuasion. He really expects him to give up his children to Pamela again with the false reason of making her happy?
His kids would be happy. He really wants Pamela to be happy too but cannot blow away the only opportunity of being with his kids. That is not going to happen.
"I cannot give her custody of the children again. Once a month is not enough for a father to get to know and be acquainted with his children and vice versa.
And if you think one day in a month is okay, the kids remain with me and she visits them once in a month. After all, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.." Louis replied, raising his wristwatch and glanced briefly at the time.
He stood up and declared "I'm sorry I have to leave. If you don't get me to talk to, talk to any of my lawyers" and turned around, strolling out of the police station.
" Louis, Louis" Pamela was furious and stood up hastily to go after him but her lawyer held her wrist and told her to sit down.
"There's no use going after him. You can't win against him that way" he said. He told her they needed to adopt another method.
Or better still, she can let him be with the kids for a while except the kids insist that they want to be with her.
Pamela asked if they could get a chance to ask the kids and her lawyer said they would find a way. That way, Pamela and her lawyer thanked the police officers for their time and left.
Pamela returned home and broke down in tears. She started sobbing. The entire Mansion was empty except for her and the servants working with her.
The liveliness was not there. The childish giggling and the laughter was no longer. Their voices, arguments and sometimes those sibling rivalry they usually exhibit was no longer there.
How was she going to live without her boys? Will there be an end with her tussle with Louis Hayden? She had hurt him and refused to let him get anywhere close to her kids and later she regretted that act.
She started sobbing. She went into her room and let her tears pour. Her grannies were with her but left because of her stubbornness. Now, the only people who mattered to her in this life, her kids had also been taken away from her.
She had thought Louis Hayden had left her with the kids and completely forgotten about them. But she didn't realise he had been trailing their movements until Dora said it that morning.
She needs those kids. Her life is incomplete without them. Louis Hayden could have kidnapped her and had her locked up rather than separating her from her children.
Those children are the most important thing in her life and the only real relatives she had ever had. Her Foster parents were fake and easily auctioned her out to get a lot of money from the Hayden's family.
Her maternal grandparents could readily abandon her without turning back to glance at her simply because she made a mistake.
But these children, through thin and thick, they would always remain and be true to her. Now, losing custody of the children seemed to her as if she had lost a part of her life and existence.
That evening, Louis Hayden got back to his Mansion. He actually kept to his words and came back early enough for him to be with the kids like he promised.
He went for a quick bath and changed into something casual. He came downstairs and found the kids in their mini sitting room.
It's a kiddies sitting room, with its floor specially rugged to avoid injury when they fall. Every of the appliances in that room were heavily insulated.
There are a lot of kiddies games installed on the player. A perfect place for them to chill off while not in their study and not having their siesta.
As soon as Dora saw him, she chimed "Daddy is here" and ran to him, throwing herself in his arms.
Louis lifted her off her feet and swirled her around before kissing her chin. "How are you my love?" he asked, kissing her hair and gently placing her down.
The brothers stood and stared at him. He opened his arms and called "common friends, come to daddy" and smiled broadly.
Only Dora had known him. The few weeks he spent with her at the hospital had left her heart filled with love for him. But the boys, they haven't gotten a chance to be with him or even met him.
Their nannies and bodyguards were standing by, smiling at the boys. Damian was the first that came towards his father and then Daniel followed.
But David stood still, staring at his dad. Is this man their real dad? Where is their mommy? Why did he bring them to his house and not to their mummy's?
Louis lifted the boys one after the other and kissed their cheeks. He then glared at his distant friend. Why was he staying afar and glaring at him expressionless?
This boy was like him. He saw an image of himself in him. He remembered he too was like that when he was still younger, he hardly got closer to someone he wasn't familiar with and even as an adult, he sometimes takes on such an aloof attitude.
"Hi David" Louis called his name and the little boy squinted. He went to him and lifted him up, kissing his temple.
"I am your daddy, David. Get used to me henceforth because we are going to be together, and forever" he declared, caressing his hair.
David nodded. His daddy? He said he is his daddy and he knows his name. Does he know the names of his other siblings?
He sat down on the floor, a sight that surprised the bodyguards and nannies. The boys sat around him but Dora came over and sat on his thighs.
Dora is actually the youngest of the four kids. Louise kissed her chin and started by introducing himself as their daddy.
Pamela was supposed to be doing that, but since she wasn't there to do it, he went ahead and told them they are his kids and would be living with him henceforth.
"Will my mummy be living with us?" Daniel asked. He glanced up at his dad and saw him smiling broadly at him. "Yeah, I hope that soon your mother will move in and start living with us," Louis added.
He sighed softly and murmured "if she really can put her pride aside and value relationship than revenge" Louis said it so quietly that he felt the kids won't hear what he said but David did.
"What do you mean by revenge Mr.. Louis... sorry daddy" he corrected himself. He heard his dad say if his mother would value.. value what.. he didn't hear the word but heard he said something more than revenge.
