Chapter 43: Chapter 43

Pamela was startled. She didn't know her grandma was already downstairs. Oh gosh! How could she not have known she was there until she startled her.

"Nothing, grandma" Pamela forced a smile. She lied and Clarion knew it. But there's nothing she could say to prove her wrong. Before she could ask any more questions about her involvement in the rising again of the Hayden's group, Pamela stood up abruptly.

"I'll be in my room" she declared and without waiting for Clarion's permission, she bowed slightly and went to her room.

Clarion squinted. She's known Pamela for a few years already and can depict her mood. She's not in a good mood and she's not willing to share her feelings with her.

Clarion shrugged. She might be having some hard challenges to sort out. She's a business consultant and definitely should know what to do and when to involve her and Tarvan.

Freya had waited for Freddie to return home. She thought he would return after a few days and hence, she wasn't bothered about it. But now, it appeared he was not coming back.

Will he just leave and not return? Was he so offended at Emma's actions that he left without looking back? She missed him greatly.

Emma no longer has the time to be with her. She's always busy with work and Rowland. She does all the house chores and her back ache.

If Freddie had been with her, he would have kept her company and ease her of the present loneliness. But where on earth is he now?

Suddenly, she heard a car honk. She looked out through the window and saw that Emma had arrived. She beamed with a smile. Her daughter was back early and they would be happy

But soon, she saw Rowland step out of the car from the driver's side. The two lovers walked towards the house. Freya frowned. This Rowland, doesn't he have a home of himself?

For goodness sake, where was he living before he met Emma again and schemed along with them to send Lucas from the house?

Why can't he just go to his house and pay Emma a visit once or twice a week. Why is he living with them and constituting a nuisance?

"... I will ensure that the divorce papers are signed without giving him a dime. I won't give Lucas a chance to get away with his tricky accusation…" Emma was saying when she walked into the sitting room, closely followed by Rowland.

"You don't have to worry about anything. I will ensure he signed the divorce papers" Rowland assured her. He sat down and placed his legs on the glass table.

"Ms Freya, get me a glass of juice" Rowland requested yawning. Not even a word of greeting or a simple Hi to Freya. But he immediately started ordering her around.

"If you need a glass of juice, go get it yourself. I am not your errand woman!" Freya snapped at him. His audacity, how dare he order her around?

Has his shamelessness gone beyond its boundaries that he had forgotten that she's Emma's mother? This house belongs to her daughter and in extension, herself. If he doesn't want her to send him away like Lucas and Freddie, he should know his limit.

"Why would I go and get a glass of juice by myself? What's your use in this house? If you can't serve my baby and I as our maid, then you are as good as being thrown out like a flea" Rowland yelled at her.

"Are you crazy or something, how dare you say I should be your maid. Do you want me to throw you out like I did to Lucas?" Freya bellowed.

"Emma, tell this nuisance to shut the shithole she called a mouth, otherwise, I will throw her out of this house through the windows" Rowland threatened.

Freya was going to lash at him with her tongue when Emma stepped in "Mum, you are so unbearable. How can you not bring a glass of juice for Rowland?

Are you trying to get him upset? If he calls you a maid, he is right. There isn't anything wrong in his words. Why are you making a mountain out of a molehill?"

Freya was speechless. Emma was taking Rowland's side against her? How can her own daughter do that and not scold this useless gigolo she calls a boyfriend?"

"Are you serious, Emma?" Freya asked.

"Just shut the crap and get Rowland and I two glasses of juice. Don't let me frown at you. Bring us the juice and prepare us a sumptuous meal"

Freya felt as if her head was heavy on her neck. Emma is talking so rashly to her simply because Rowland was seated? If Freddie was there, would they both be able to talk her down so cheaply?

She walked with heavy footsteps towards the refrigerator. Is this going to be the thing she would face if Rowland remained in the house?

What will she do now, to get rid of the bastard? She had never failed and in this war with Rowland, she isn't going to fail either.

He had just drawn the battle line by turning her daughter against her. She would accept his challenge meekly and strike him hard like a rattlesnake, sending her venom into his memory that he would never forget the name Freya Grayson!

Lucas was with his lawyer. He told him how Emma's lawyer had brought a divorce paper to him. He had refused to sign it. And said he would sue her for deceitfully stealing his properties.

He explained how he was denied entrance into his own office. He was still Emma's husband but she brought her a man whore into their home and even had the effrontery to deny him access into the house.

When his lawyer heard Lucas' words and the evidence he had on his phone against Emma, the lawyer said he would have them summoned to the court.

Lucas was satisfied with his lawyer's words. He was also glad that when the security went in to call Emma when he went there and wasn't allowed to get in, he got the idea to record the whole scenario and it appeared, that was enough evidence to accuse Emma of infidelity and divorce her, getting his entire properties back.

The court hearing would come up as soon as possible, his lawyer had assured him. And that made him happy. On his way home, he felt the ease and satisfaction like he's never felt before.

Himself, Freddie and Greg were like a family now. Greg was kind enough to give him a shelter over his head and a comfortable place to lay his head for a night's rest.

He must ensure he finds Pamela the next day. He already knows where to find her. It's time he goes to right his wrongs. He needed to apologise to her.

But Lucas didn't have a chance to get home before he was attacked by some hoodlums. They had trailed him from his lawyer's Chambers and at a lonely alley leading to Greg's house he was attacked.

Lucas was battered that he passed out. It was only through the help of some passerby that rushed him to the hospital, that he was saved. He was examined and it was discovered that he had two broken ribs and a mild internal bleeding.

Next morning, Clarion was surprised to come downstairs and meet Leah Hayden seated with her legs crossed, waiting for her.
