Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Leah Hayden was dazed at the glittering appearance of the woman. She was looking really younger than her age. Her smile hadn't changed a bit. Maybe it's the make-up or just natural, her face didn't have the wrinkles of a woman in her early seventies.

Within a few seconds, Leah had scanned her dressing. It's indeed expensive and exquisite. The Johnson's always had a smell of wealth.

"Aunt Clarion!" Leah finally found her voice. Ellis and Louis had also turned to glance at the woman. The younger wondered at the magnificent royal attire their host had on.

His mother didn't give him proper information on the type of guest they were meeting. They are royals and he could perceive how highly respected they are.

Clarion descended the stairs and walked towards Leah. The latter also took some strides and the two women met Midway. They just hugged each other warmly and it seemed they were not willing to let go.

Ellis and Tarvan walked to each other, shaking hands like men and smiling. They were talking to each other like they were an old friend who just happened to lose contact for a few years.

Louis pinched the bridge between his temple. Oh gosh! Why did his mother not let him have his evening to himself? What's the use of coming with them when he stood alone like a stranger.

As if reading his thoughts, Tarvan said "My daughter isn't here, perhaps you both might be shaking hands too" he said in a husky voice.

The three men now chuckled heartily. The chuckle from the men made the women let each other go. Leah's eyes had become teary and Clarion was trying her best to hold back the tears, she sniffled and smiled, covering up her inner sadness.

Leah was Alice's bestie. She had always been welcome to their home with her friends. But she married a few years earlier and Alice ended up the way she did.

How she wished her daughter was alive. It would have been amazing to see them retain that flavour of their friendship as they grew older into great mum and soon to be grandma.

"How have you been Aunt?" Leah finally found her voice. She wiped the tears on her eyelashes away and smiled. This is Alice's super mum.

They both love each other so much. Alice couldn't do a thing without thinking about her mother. And the mother, she rested Alice like a jewel of an estimable price that she really was to them.

But the cold hands of death took Alice away from her. How was she able to cope without her all these years?

"I've been struggling to be fine,Leah. It hasn't been easy without her"Clarion declared. Her tears were so shameless that it decided to betray her by cascading down her cheeks.

Clarion's words attracted the men and Tarvan's smile gradually faded. He knew Clarion would sob. She can't help it when she sees those who are very familiar and close to their late daughter.

"Enough of the tears Au..n.t" Leah reprimanded, sniffling, cleaning the tears off Clarion's face with her index fingers.

She was sobbing as well and telling someone else not to. The men shook their heads. Women are a special creature whose makeup is highly complicated.

Louis squinted. Why sobbing? His mother sobbing again. Haven't they come for dinner? Why this whole drama?

Clarion shook her head and the next minute, she turned, glancing at the men standing close by and smiled.

She held Leah's hand and walked towards them "Nice to meet you again, Ellis. The first and the only time I've met you was at your wedding. You looked so charming and cute that I almost couldn't say who is prettier among you both" she teased, glancing at Leah.

Leah smiled shyly. Ellis had always been a handsome man. Her son Louis took after him every bit.

"And he is still so handsome like he was back then"Tarvan chipped in. He was also there that year. The two of them were good together and he really looked forward to his daughter Alice, getting married to such a great guy. But he never got that chance.

"Thank you Mr Tarvan, we men don't only look cute on our wedding, but we always look good" Ellis chimed and Clarion chuckled aloud.

She glanced at the young man standing by Ellis' side "He is your son,Ellis. He looked like you except for his eyes. Those eyes were strictly Leah's" she complimented.

"Thank you Ms Clarion. And definitely, he should look like me" Ellis chimed, glancing briefly at Louis, who had a faint smile on his face.

"Nice meeting you ma'am" Louis said, bowing slightly. His voice was hoarse. Clarion liked him immediately. But she felt a little uncomfortable with him. He bears a great degree of resemblance with her grandsons.

But she waved the thoughts off. People can look alike despite not being related. This might just be a case of such.

She shook hands with the younger man, beaming with a smile. She likes him. She felt like creating a chemistry between her granddaughter and him, that's if he's still single.

"You're married?"Clarion asked, making it sound like she was getting to know him. But in her heart, she wished his answer would be no.

"I'm single," Louis replied. If only Pamela was there, he would have mended the relationship and left the singles club.

"Wow... that's amazing. I feel like arranging a blind date between you and my daughter"Clarion teased.

"And that would be a great idea, Aunt" Leah chimed. She didn't know that Clarion later had another daughter. Thank goodness, she isn't left destitute in this life.

Glancing at Leah, Clarion became serious "then as mothers, we could arrange a date for them both. How about that"she asked.

"Agreed" Leah Hayden declared, raising a thump and glancing at Louis from her split vision. She doesn't know if her son wasn't a man enough.

If that insemination hadn't been successful, she would have concluded that he was impotent. He never had a girlfriend. At least, not anyone that she knows.

She doubts if he's ever had sex. And now that they hadn't seen or heard from Pamela in years, it only means Louis had to try to get involved with another woman.

If that woman was going to be her dear Alice's sister, it was just perfect. She saw Louis had turned on a white eye.

"You have my support on that" Ellis declared. If Leah supports the idea, it only means he was in too.

"And me too," Tarvan chipped in.

Louis Hayden smiled quietly. The four adults had already agreed on a blind date for him and a woman he hadn't met yet. He hoped that meeting ever come.

He could skip schedules for any meetings as much as he can but not on a blind date. He doesn't have this thing for women. And the woman that is capable of making him fall for her, can only be his ex wife, Pamela.

"It's agreed on," Clarion declared and everyone smiled. They all looked at Louis and the latter just chuckled shyly. They don't know yet, who they are making an agreement over.

Clarion offered them a seat and told them that there's one person who would join them for dinner.

"My daughter will join us soon. She's almost done with a conference call when I came downstairs. And maybe you don't know, she's the CEO of the newest company in town" Clarion declared arrogantly.

She has to say good things about her, especially her personality to get Hayden's clamour to meet her, especially the young master Louis Hayden.

"She's the CEO of the P and D4 group. She's pretty and elegant. You would like her when you meet her. A single mom of quadruplets.." Clarion decided to be transparent enough.

When Leah heard quadruplets, she felt her heart beat very fast. She glanced at Ellis and the latter locked eyes with her. Leah smiled but her eyes had become teary.

Just then, Clarion looked at the stairs and saw her elegant daughter, dressed like a princess. She was glad that her appearance was capable of making a man go on his knees immediately to propose Marriage to her.

She's proud of Pamela. Louis Hayden will trip over her and be eager for the blind date. "Here comes my daughter," Clarion announced.
