Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Louis stormed out of the office almost colliding with anyone who dared to stand in his way. Pamela is back, he kept repeating the words.

He got out of the elevator and got in his car. He ordered the chauffeur to drive as fast as he could. He didn't hang up, he was talking to Romeo and at that moment, the latter had walked his way to where Pamela's car queued.

He tried to get Pamela to wind down the window but the latter refused. Two bodyguards in the car behind stepped out and told Romeo to step aside.

That was when he knew the situation was more complicated than he thought. A bodyguard? That means reaching her would be difficult.

Just as Louis Hayden got to the spot where the traffic was heavy, the cars started moving and there was nothing he could do. The Lamborghini Sian moved.

Romeo got into his car to trail the car ahead when the traffic light turned red. The Lamborghini had passed and he watched the car walking in the distance.

He glared at the plate number but it was sealed. How did Pamela end up in such an expensive car?

Only two of such cars are in the entire continent. One in the Royal family in Middletown City and the second one, he couldn't really say.

"I lost her boss," Romeo announced.

Louis Hayden could not fathom what Romeo told him. He definitely must be mistaken. He had probably seen someone who looked like her.

If he gets his description very well, she appears fragile and sophisticated. Riding in such an expensive car? He hadn't seen anyone ride in the car in Oak City, not even him, the billionaire dude.

But he must find out who that woman in that car was. At least if it's not Pamela, and the person bears a striking semblance with her, he would want to know more.

But Romeo was certain. He was as sure as his name that it was Pamela. He even said she wind up her glass when he called her.

Once the conference was over, his next assignment was to go after Pamela. If he has to travel out of the City, he would do just that.

The day of the conference arrived. Many attendees from far cities and countries attended but those who couldn't make it, watched it on a zoom.

The hall was decorated on a top notch. Those attending were men and women in high hierarchy, mostly owners of large businesses and companies.

Everyone arrived and their seats had their name tagged on it. Louis Hayden, a man highly respected in Oak city and neighbouring cities and countries arrived.

When he arrived, he was offered a seat right in the second row. He was a little excited. This will give him an edge over others as he would be able to see perfectly whatever is going on at the podium.

But the moment he sat down, he felt uneasy again. He had that feeling from the moment he stepped out of bed that morning. But sitting in the grand hall of the newest company, whose name is still unveiled, the uneasiness became unbearable.

He looked at his both sides and saw some guests had also arrived. Some came with their spouses and others like himself, came alone.

The zoom was on as the other analyst gave their talk. But the longer Louis was seated, the more uneasy he felt. He felt like poking at some point.

Soon, they all went for lunch. The cafeteria was situated within the premises. Everyone was impressed. The new company, yet to be commissioned, was so large.

Besides the grand hall that could accommodate ten thousand attendees at a time, the cafeteria was as large as that with different sections.

The furnishing of the hall was grand but when they saw the dimension the cafeteria took, they were left spellbound. How on earth can so much money be sunk down by just these two edifices?

They can imagine what the office complex would look like. These two structures were already such an imposing edifice that they had a rough image of what the real company structure would look like.

The waiters and waitresses were well suited. Smartly dressed while doing their jobs, they took orders and within a few minutes, everyone was having their lunch.

Once the lunch is over, the convener would give her speech and it would come to an end. Whoever will, can stay back to have a cocktail party that evening. It's not part of the conference, but is organised for only those who would be willing to attend.

Louis Hayden was having this uneasiness at its peak and decided to excuse himself while others were having lunch. He walked out and slipped into his car just as Pamela walked out of her Lamborghini, and headed into the Hall.

Louis needed to chill off. He decided to go to his office. He needed to rest a while. He couldn't get to the end of the conference.

But his presence was already registered and everyone had seen him. He would meet the convener one of these days and get familiarised with her.

That evening, Leah had just returned from a socialite gathering of women when her cell phone rang.

She didn't quite remember the name displayed nor did she recognize the number. She answered it all the same "Hello…" Leah said into the phone.

"Hello this is Clarion Johnson…" Clarion introduced herself. When the two women finished talking that evening, Leah would have jumped like she used to do when she was younger.

"Ellis, we've been invited to a dinner tomorrow, an old family friend is in town and wants to meet us" Leah Hayden chimed. She was so excited that she couldn't help but hold her husband's arm.

Ellis quickly thought about his activities for the day and agreed to the dinner. Leah decided to call Louis to come along. He was yet to know this family friend of hers.

She would introduce him to them. She took her phone and sent a message to Louis Dinner tomorrow at 7pm with a friend.

At last, she was going to meet this family again. When Louis saw the message he was uncomfortable with it.

His mother again. If she has dinner with a friend, why ask him to come along? He has his own schedule and is not waiting to be held by the wrist by his mother again.

He doesn't know if he can make it. But if he can't, he would send her a message an hour later. He's been treading gently with his mother after that incident.

She still hasn't been able to forgive him. Every year, she kept reminding him that those babies would have been a year, two years and so so year now.

When he returned to his Villa, his assistant called him and said the new company had been unveiled. It's name is simple P and D4 group.

Louis Hayden squinted. What a name for a company. Only its owner knows what those abbreviations stood for. P and D4? Whatever, he would try and get in touch with her.

It's her, he heard. She's a business consultant and a great administrator. She owned a head office in Middletown and has only moved to Oak City to plant its branch.

That company would definitely be a rival company of his own. And somehow, he felt his cooperation would have a hard time remaining on top.

It's best if he extends a hand of friendship to her first. So that if he can't beat her, he would strive to be on par with her. He would have his employees sit up and work hard to move the Hayden cooperation forward.

That night, Lucas and Emma were at each other's neck.
