Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Louis was stamping his feet on the floor. The hospital where Pamela went for an ultrasound called to apologise to her. Perhaps one of them did not serve her well and hence she left angrily.
But they called the phone in Louis' Villa rather than her mobile phone. They felt she would be home and since she was Louis Hayden's wife, there is no reason why they couldn't call the line.
But unfortunately, Pamela was not home but Louis was. He was the one that answered the phone. The receptionist linked the call to the doctor who attended to her.
He without cautiousness apologised and said Louis Hayden should extend his sincere apologies to his wife. But she needs to take care of herself and not hurt her unborn babies.
Louis squinted. Unborn babies? She had twins in her belly and lied to him that she wasn't pregnant, that she was having her period a few weeks ago?
Oh gosh. This is too much. How dare she lie to him? He would do the worst and make her regret lying to him.
He had the divorce papers already. He wanted to give her to sign the next morning during breakfast. But now, he wouldn't be waiting any longer.
Louis appreciated the doctor and hung up. This is it. She was with him for a reason and it's crystal clear that she's an opportunist and wants to ride on the wings of his success.
He would wait for her to return. No matter how long she stayed out, she would eventually come home to rest for the night. That is when he would get hold of her.
Just as he predicted, Pamela came home in the evening. She met Louis Hayden in the sitting room seated with his legs crossed.
The atmosphere seemed tense. Pamela wondered how frosty his Aura was that evening. Was he upset or angry with anyone?
Anyways, she said hi and walked towards the guestroom. "Stop there" Louis ordered. Pamela sighed softly. Not again. She's not in any way ready to receive scolding and a tongue lashing from him.
She paused and turned back to face him. "Where are you coming from?" Louis asked, glancing at her with a raised brow.
"I hung out with friends. But why are you interested in knowing anyways?" Pamela asked, looking at him directly with blinking an eyelid.
Louis chuckled softly. Liar. She is a perfect liar. Hang out with friends and not in the hospital. He already knows she was going to lie so it doesn't come like a surprise to him.
"Nothing" Louis declared standing up and picking the paper, walking closer to her, he stretched it out to her, "sign it"
Pamela squinted. Without being told, she knew what he was asking her to sign. It couldn't be anything more than a divorce papers.
She hesitated a bit and eventually collected it. This marriage would be over and like promised, she knew Louis' parents would readily accept her and nurture her and her unborn babies.
When she glanced at it, she discovered that he had already signed. It remained her signature for the divorce to take effect. She saw that he promised to compensate her with 10 million dollars.
Louis was staring at her. She doesn't know the worst fate that would follow immediately after she signed the papers. The ten million dollars should be enough for her to fix her miserable life.
Such people attached themselves to the rich class like a tick. She should take the money and fix her life however she wants. That is the best he can offer her for being his wife for a month and a few days.
But he was surprised when Pamela took the pen and crossed out the compensation. He squinted. What does she mean? Does she want to request for something better?
Then she signed. She handed the paper back to him and look at him directly "Thank you for the freedom"
Louis was speechless. Just like that? She wouldn't even say anything to him or throw a tantrum? Oh yes, he knows what she was going to do next, trap him with the babies in her belly.
The thoughts of the fact that Pamela was pregnant and lied about it to him. And her willingness to sign the papers without being interested in his compensation meant she had a bigger plan on her sleeve made Louis Hayden's countenance glowed with fury.
"You think you are smart and want to blackmail me with those sets of distractions in your belly. You lied to me that you are not pregnant and yet went to the hospital for an ultrasound?
I knew you were up to something, your plans are obviously glaring. You can fool my parents and tell them lies without them detecting it, but not me.
I am Louis Hayden and I know your type. I won't give you a chance to birth those things in your belly and come back to blackmail me later…"Louis thundered and Pamela shivered.
He knew about it? She thought he was never going to know and hence felt her heart relaxed. She wasn't his wife anymore and she can choose to keep the pregnancy or not.
Before she could get a chance of defence, Louis pulled her by the wrist, dragging her along. Pamela struggled to free herself off his grip, but she couldn't.
She felt her ankles sprain but she didn't care about it then. She was breathing heavily and knew his force on her was hurting her.
Louis yanked her roughly into the car and Pamela quickly held her belly, hitting her elbow on the seat. She started sobbing immediately.
This act of Louis Hayden was ruthless. He is mean to a woman. If for nothing, but she was his ex wife and the woman who carries his seed in her belly.
Louis got in the car as well and shut the door. This whole nonsense must stop once and for all. He would accompany her for the abortion and ensure that it was done before letting her go.
"How can you treat a woman like this? This is too much and you are hurting me with your unruly temperament. You can't behave like this to me?" Pamela yelled at him.
She felt the pain on her ankle but she ignored it. What mattered to her was escaping from Louis Hayden's heartlessness.
"Who says, when some random cheap woman who has no reputation decides to go against my desires and be pregnant with a child that I have no interest in.
You have reduced me to an idiot, incapable of making his own decisions. I will have you abort that pregnancy once and for all"Louis seethed.
"This was not my decision alone, your.."Pamela was explaining when Louis interrupted her. "No more words from you otherwise, you will experience my ruthlessness!" He warned.
Pamela started sobbing. She was sobbing quietly but loud enough to attract sympathy from Louis. But the latter has a heart made of stone.
He didn't as much as spare her a glance nor give a damn about her sobs. He treated her like air and shut his mind away from her.
When they arrived at the hospital, Pamela knew her babies' fate was going to be determined by Louis Hayden in a few minutes.
She decided to resolve to plead. "Please Louis don't hurt these babies. I will stay away from you, very far away from where you will ever see me.
I will never disclose the identity of their father to anyone let alone the babies. Give me this chance to be a mother. This babies in my belly is the only thing that has ever been so real to me in my entire life.
This is the only thing that will bring me happiness in this life. Don't take this happiness away from me. Please, I promise to stay away from you forever.
Remember they are yours as well. They are yours as much as they are mine. Our babies, our flesh and blood…"Pamela was pleading.
"Enough! I don't want to hear another word from you. I don't want babies that aren't conceived out of love and intimate pleasure making. Get it?" Louis yelled at her and alighted.
He held the door and ordered "Get out". Pamela glanced at him with teary eyes. But Louis didn't bulge or blink an eye but was glaring at her with hostility.
With shaky hands and a painful ankle, Pamela gently stepped out of the car. She was feeling pain in her lower abdomen already and bent slightly leaping and walking behind Louis Hayden.
She's never seen a man like this. Is he human or a robotic machine that has no feelings or empathy? Why does she have to encounter a man like him after all she's been through these twenty one years of her life.
She got a seat at the reception and sat down. Louis eyed her and went to speak to the doctor. Next, she saw Louis signing some documents.
She knew it must be a consent form. He was signing a document to terminate the life of his own kids. That is the height of wickedness.
Even the terrifying and most foolish animal wouldn't hurt its little ones. But a man would do that to his own unborn babies. He is not a good man.
Next a nurse brought a wheelchair and asked Pamela to sit on it, wheeling her into the theatre. She looked back to glance at Louis for the last time before shutting the door and saw him looked away quickly, averting her gaze.
Louis Hayden felt a flood of guilt rushed upon his conscience. He felt goosebumps rise on his skin. What he was doing was wrong.
He has no right to suppress her and make her undergo a process she doesn't want to go through. Besides, those unborn babies belong to him as much as they belong to Pamela.
When Leah arrived back home, she went straight to find Ellis where he has always been; his study.
Leah Hayden went and gave her husband a featherlight kiss on his chin. Ellis smiled and welcomed her. He said he felt uneasy how she hurried out of the house.
Leah Hayden smiled. She said she needed to go to the hospital. It's about Pamela and the babies in her belly.
She told her husband about the ultrasound result and Ellis was happy. He really was going to have so many grandchildren at once?
But when Leah told him her instructions to Pamela, Ellis suggested that they take her away from Louis' Villa. She could stay in their Mansion or better still, take her to another country for vacation.
They agreed and Leah promised to visit Louis' Villa the next morning:
