Chapter 17: Chapter 17
An hour later, Pamela was wheeled out of the theatre. Louis Hayden was still waiting to be certain that the procedure was done.
Immediately he saw Pamela come out, he felt this sympathy for her. She definitely must have gone through something similar to have the insemination.
And now, she experienced something similar to having it removed from her belly. This was happening because of her insincerity.
She shouldn't have lied to him back then. She told him she wasn't pregnant and the insemination failed. It would have been easier back then than the present.
Since they are officially divorced, he would think of ways to pay her back for the inconveniences she might have gone through because of him.
Then Pamela was declared fine and could go home and rest. "You need to take some time off work, Ms and rest. That's what you need right now to recover well.
Besides, don't forget to take your medicines…" the doctor advised and gave her a prescription.
Pamela nodded and walked out on Louis and the doctor. She didn't want to say anything. She just started walking slowly with a heavy heart and shattered emotions.
Louis paid the bills and went out, with the hope of meeting Pamela in the car, but she wasn't there. He asked the chauffeur and the latter said he saw young madam walking through the gate.
He got in and ordered the chauffeur to drive. They needed to catch up with her before she got into a commercial transport.
When they walked a little away from the hospital gate, they saw Pamela walking slowly. Her grief was obviously seen from her movement.
The chauffeur drove to stand in front of her and Louis stepped out. He went to Pamela and asked "Why didn't you get in the car? You shouldn't be stressing yourself now"
He grabbed her wrist and the latter pulled her hand off his grip. "How dare you have the conscience to still show your inhuman face before me?
Today, I lost fate in fatherhood. Today I realised that fatherhood isn't destined for every human of the male species. And I also realised that you are not human.
You had a chance to live again. You were shown love and good wishes in the days you lay unconscious in your bed. But when you woke up, your beastly heart overshadowed your reasoning.
May you desire for love all your life. May you have wishes that would never come true. But I will fight back Louis Hayden. I will wait until I am strong and I will get revenge.
I will learn to be vengeful, if it is just towards you. I will never forget and I will never forgive you. Don't forget that one day, you would see what should have been yours, and you will have no right to it…"Pamela's eyes were red. Her complexion flushed with redness.
For the first time in Louis' life, he felt words were piercing at him. Can words really have a sharp edge that could cut through someone's heart, letting guilt gush out like a fountain.
He looked away. He couldn't look at her eyes. He saw pain and cheating in those eyes. He had cheated on her. He knew it. He knew and agreed that he had no right to force her for an abortion.
Pamela kept walking away, leaving him behind. Louis recovered his wits a little and went after her again "I will take you home first and you'll rest. After that, you can make whatever decision you felt like and I will support you on that"
Pamela paused her steps and closed her eyes. Take her home? "Take me home? Do I still have a home with you after signing those papers a while ago?
My life has intertwined with a lot of people. But I haven't seen any of them so demon hearted like you. Go your way, and remember, we never met" Pamela declared.
Louis didn't try to stop her again. He got back into his car and drove off. From that moment, he knew the clock of his life had begun to tick.
….WHEN THE CLOCK TICKS……
THE STORY HAS JUST BEGUN!!!
The next morning, Louis got out of bed wearily. He couldn't get to sleep. Pamela's words kept rehearsing itself in his mind.
He waited for her to return the previous evening and she didn't. He had never dialled her cell phone number, but he did. It was switched off.
He called Mr Greg her foster uncle and he told him Ms Pamela wasn't in the Hayden's Mansion. Where had she been?
He tried to close his eyes but would quickly open them. He saw Pamela's teary eyes. Her words were taunting him and her tears were scaring him as well.
He ended up staying awake almost the entire night. He needed to find her. She's probably in her parents house nursing the wound he had inflicted on her.
He just wants to get some relief from this taunting memory that Pamela had gifted him with. After his breakfast,he would ensure he assigned his men to search for her.
He had a bath and when he came downstairs, he was surprised to find his parents walk-in through the door. He squinted, why are they in his Villa so early without informing him?
"How are you son?" Ellis called out. He smiled. "Good to see you dad" Louis chimed, walking towards his parents.
"How are you Louis?" Leah asked, smiling and looking behind Louis. She obviously was looking out for Pamela. She became uneasy then. Didn't see her.
"Good morning mum" Louis walked to his mother, giving her a hug. Someone he felt uncomfortable with his parents visiting so early in the morning.
Had Pamela called them and possibly reported the incident of the previous day? He knew they would be unhappy with him, but he needed to do it in the right way.
"Where is Pamela?" Leah asked. She couldn't hide her curiosity anymore. Ellis also looked towards the dinning and didn't see Pamela.
Louis' hands were in his pants pocket. He felt the same flood of guilt like the previous evening and it got him hard, that somehow, he felt a little scared.
When Louis didn't answer immediately, Leah glanced at her husband and their eyes locked. Something isn't right. Why is Louis feeling uncomfortable with their question?
"Where is your wife?" Ellis asked. This time his voice was stern. He had the habit of persuading and coaxing Louis when he was a child. But as he grew older, he didn't use that method anymore.
If he wants his son to listen to him and in situations like this, to answer his questions directly, his tone must change. Though he is a grown man now, he will forever remain his son.
"First, she's not my wife anymore. And to your question, I don't know where she is?" Louis replied. He looked away. He doesn't want to meet his parent's gaze.
He can imagine his mother's ghostly stare and his father's disappointing glare. That's exactly how Leah was. She was shocked at Louis' words.
Has he divorced her? She was still his wife when she came for the ultrasound the previous day. In less than 24 hours, he said she was not his wife.
"What do you mean she's not your wife? Did you force a divorce on her?" Ellis asked in a hoarse voice. He wasn't in any way better than his wife.
"I needed to end the marriage. I'm sorry I didn't seek your consent before doing it. She lied to me. She was in this marriage for gain, just like I predicted.
I can't remain in this marriage, it sulks and I feel suffocated in it. I can't imagine that a beautiful woman like her will agree to be married to a man who is not in love with her and even was in a coma.
She wants my money, my name and share in the affluence that comes with it. I can't keep her as my wife hence I demanded for a divorce and she agreed.."Louis explained.
His parents were speechless. When did Louis become so narrow minded? He divorced her simply because he thought she was in it for gain.
If Pamela had an opportunity to escape being married to him, she certainly would have done it. But she didn't. She chooses to accept the arranged marriage and here he is, thinking in the negative.
Well, that would be better for them. Since he wasn't aware of the pregnancy, they would bring Pamela to themselves and let her have the babies.
"So, you sent her packing, right?" Leah asked. She was inwardly grateful that things decided to take this turn. She would be more than happy to have Pamela in the Hayden's Mansion.
"I didn't," Louis answered. He wondered why his parents were more interested in Pamela than an ideal in-law should. He just doesn't understand what's so peculiar about her.
"But you did nothing to stop her, right? You should at least have shown her some care by letting her remain in your Villa till this morning"Ellis queried.
He turned to glance at his wife. But Louis' next words left him tongue tied. "I tried to coax her to come along with me but she refused. As soon as she stepped out of the hospital, she refused to get back home with me.
But let's forget about her. Let's have breakfast if you haven't already had" Louis declared, motioning for his parents to come along.
Leah turned him sharply and stood in front of him, looking up at him as Louis stood towering over his mother.
"Hospital? What did you go to do there?" She asked. She's afraid for the worst. Did Louis find out that she was pregnant?
Louis looked away. He knew his parents would be mad with him. He made her have an abortion which is against her will. This is trampling on her right as a woman.
"Can we just stop talking about Pamela and find something else to talk about?" Louis frowned.
