Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Louis turned himself and stood before the mirror, combing his hair. He was already dressed; he needed to attend a few things before having a management meeting with the senior employees of the Hayden's cooperation.

"Grandma" Pamela chimed immediately she answered the phone. But her smile soon disappeared when she heard her grandma's voice go low.

"Are you alright, grandma?" Pamela asked in a shaking worried tone. Louis paused and turned to glance at her.

"What! Great grandfather?" Pamela exclaimed. She glanced at Louis and the latter saw her eyes gone red. Her complexion was ashen and immediately tears fell off her eyes.

"...the royal burial will be taking place in two days' time, and it will be with your grandfather's coronation. You must be there as the next heiress to the throne.

And don't forget what your grandfather said, you are to bring your husband along, otherwise the crowning of the next heir might elude you…" Clarion explained.

"Great grandfather…" Pamela started sobbing. She slowly brought her hand down and placed the phone on the bed. Her tears were just running down her cheeks.

Louis went to her and brought her to sit on the edge of the bed. He didn't ask her any questions; he could guess that her great grandfather was dead.

That explains the feeling she was having. It's because something bad had happened to her great grandfather. He loves her very much and practically would call her the only beauty he's got in his old age.

"Great grandfather is dead?" He asked. He cold Pamela to an embrace and gently stroke her back, consoling her.

Pamela couldn't find her voice to answer Louis immediately. She least expected that her great grandfather would pass away at such a time; she thought he would wait for her to return first.

He loves her very much. Everyone in the Royal palace loves her and her grandparents didn't love her less either. She sobbed silently, when the reality of the conditions she needed to meet before she could return to the royal family dawned on her, she sobbed the more.

Louis glared at her. Why is Pamela sobbing so hard and bitterly. Is not like her great grandfather is a young man, there would definitely be a time he would pass away.

Why is she sobbing as if her life was going to be choked out of her. "Pamela, my condolences. You have to be strong and not let the news of his passing away sway you so much.

Rather than sobbing so much, if I were you, I'd make preparations towards travelling. You need to be strong and go over to meet your grandparents, they need you at this period of their lives" Louis advised.

Pamela stood up, she sniffled and cleaned her tears. She went to get a suitcase when she realised that most of her clothes were in her Mansion, not Louis' Mansion.

"I'll get back to my Mansion, I need to get a few of my things before contemplating on travelling to Middletown City or not" she said, as a matter of fact.

Louis squinted. Why won't she go to Middletown City? Is there a problem that her great grandfather's death cannot overshadow?

"Is there a problem or anything capable of hindering you from going to stand by your family at this critical time? You can take one of my jets and go, if you so wish" Louis suggested.

Pamela sniffled. How can she tell him that he's the only saviour she depends on before she could return to her family in Middletown City?

She's not an opportunist, and she doesn't want to become one. They've got back together, and it's just too soon for them to be married again.

She has no one to ask for help. Lucas was totally out of it. The only one she loves and would love to present to her family was Louis, but should she tell him now or not?

Louis was helpless. He turned Pamela to face him and looked at her red eyes and Puffy face. Her Nose was already sour and she appeared to be confused.

"Do you want me to come with me?" Louis asked and Pamela's face showed a trace of excitement. She slowly nodded and held his hands, thinking how to begin.

Louis glanced at her face and their intertwined hands. She wants to say something else, but why can't she just go straight forward to tell him whatever she wants?

"Say whatever you want to say, I'm listening," Louis said. He had completely forgotten about his work. His place at that moment is by Pamela's side and not in Hayden's cooperation.

"I want to make a request, please don't say no. My return to the Royal family depends on your response" Pamela said, holding his hand tightly and sniffled. She tried to force a smile but it was difficult for her.

"Just say it" Louis declared and Pamela nodded. She sighed softly and looked straight into Louis' face.

"Let's be married again!" She declared.
