Chapter 44: Chapter 44

Rather than answer him, Pamela started sobbing aloud. She couldn't control her emotions. She couldn't calm herself down and answer.

Lucas heard her sobbing aloud and was dazed. What's happening? Pamela is sobbing? "Are you alright, Pam?" He asked.

He sometimes shortens her name and calls her by the first three letters. But Pamela hung up, not wanting to trouble anyone with her predicament.

Lucas tried calling her back but Pamela wouldn't answer her phone. He then called Alice. Seeing the one who was calling was Lucas, Alice felt her belly sweet.

But when she answered the phone, Lucas' worried tone asked her a question immediately "Have you heard from Pamela today or called her?" He asked, not bothering to say hello first.

"No. I just returned from a night call. What happened? You can't reach her?" Alice replied, becoming uneasy as well.

"I called her to inform her of the lunch we three will be having. But she was sobbing profusely. Something wasn't right and she hung up on me.

I tried several times to call her back but she wouldn't answer her phone. I'm worried about her right now, Alice," Lucas declared.

"I'll track her whereabouts and let you know" Alice informed and hung up. Five minutes later, Alice called Lucas, "she's in the premises of City Hospital"

"I'll meet her there" Lucas announced, standing up and shutting his laptop. "I'll come along and keep track of her movement" Alice declared and hung up.

Pamela wind up the glasses of her car and remained inside, sobbing. She was downcast. What is she going to do now?

One thing is certain, she cannot keep this pregnancy. If Louis is with her, he would be so happy despite it being unplanned.

He would raise her high and swirled her around. She can imagine how playful and sweet Louis can be. But now, she's alone again, alone with his child breathing inside of her.

Abortion!

That's the only thing she can imagine at the moment. She can't think of anything else. An abortion is the only answer she's got to walk out of her present despondency.

It wasn't long, Lucas arrived at the City hospital and drove to the parking lot. He sighted Pamela's car and sighed. Alighting from the car he locked his car just as Alice drove into the hospital as well.

She saw Lucas going towards Pamela's car and quickly parked her car and came over. Lucas was tapping on the car glass but Pamela refused to wind down or deactivate the automatic lock.

Alice came over and tapped the car from the other end. Pamela looked from her left to her right and saw both of her friends.

These two always find a way to locate her whereabouts. She deactivated the automatic lock and the two friends standing out opened the car almost at the same time.

Alice got in and sat at the copilot seat. Pamela rests her head on the back rest. Her face was red and puffy already.

"Pamela" Lucas called her name, holding her face and making her look at him. He couldn't get in but stood outside beside her.

"What is wrong with you? Why have you been sobbing?" Lucas asked. He glared at her, wondering if anything was wrong with her health to be in the hospital in the first place.

Pamela looked away and sniffled. She shook her head and said nothing. She cleaned her tears.

Alice saw the laboratory report on the car dashboard and it attracted her. Without seeking Pamela's permission she took the report and glanced at it.

Her countenance changed as she glanced at Pamela with sympathy. No wonder she is sobbing. No wonder she took the only option she knew of relieving her troubled mind.

"I know why she's been sobbing, Lucas. This is the reason" Alice declared, raising the Laboratory report for Lucas to glance at.

Leah Hayden had been calling Miranda Alvan but she wouldn't answer. She had left countless missed calls on her phone but Miranda wouldn't respond.

She gave up and was contemplating on how to go over to Louis' Mansion to see her when Miranda Alvan called her back.

"I'm sorry I couldn't answer my phone when you called. I was with Louis and I don't want him to suspect anything," Miranda Alvan explained, walking over to the balcony, away from where Louis could eavesdrop on her conversation.

"Alright" Leah believed her. She lowered her voice and looked back and around her, ensuring none of the servants were nearby.

"Why are you calling me? Any updates?" Miranda asked, feeling impatient. She is really not interested in talking to Leah henceforth.

If the woman discovers how far she had gone with her son, she would bite her lips and cut short her future plans of being by Louis' side.

"I want you to draw your attention to something important. I hired you for a deal, a purpose and I don't want you to cross the lines and go outside of it. Deal is deal, don't breach it" Leah snorted.

Miranda squinted. Why is Leah telling her this? Is she already suspecting something? A woman that can sell her son's happiness without thinking twice might have eyes in the house, watching her.

"Yes, of course. Why are you saying all these, Mrs Hayden?" Miranda probed.

"Reports reaching me are that you are having affairs with Louis. Is that true? Are you exploiting him sexually simply because he cannot remember the past?" Leah questioned.

There was a dead silence from the other end.
