Chapter 37: Chapter 37

Romeo was lost.

Miranda Alvan is such a loose woman? She wants to have affairs with him in exchange for support?

She is with Louis and she's also willing to be with him, knowing that Louis is his boss? Is that how desperate she is?

But he let the surprised expression pass away quickly. He sighed and asked "You know I am married, right?"

"Yes. I know you have a wife and two kids. But I am not asking you to marry me or be my boyfriend or fiance. That's what I want from Louis alone.

All I am saying is that I am willing to spend a night with you. Take me as much as you can and in exchange, stay with me. Support me to be Louis' woman, period" Miranda explained the logic.

Romeo nodded as if he understood what she said. He was furious and broken within. Is this the kind of woman Leah Hayden brought to her son's side?

What kind of mother is she? And what kind of a woman is Miranda Alvan? Shameless and have no sense of decency?

"I have never done it before. How can I convince my wife when I am not at home?" Romeo asked, playing along.

"That's the least of your worries. Tell her you are with Louis' Hayden to help him with some of his works since he couldn't remember many of them. By morning, return home and took her shopping. That settles it" Miranda explained.

She drew closer to Romeo and wanted to kiss him but he moved away. "Wait, I haven't really agreed. But we can't say much now" Romeo declared.

"Tonight. I will be waiting for you" Miranda Alvan declared.

"No, I'll do the booking. I want a place where no one would recognise me as Louis' assistant" Romeo offered.

Stupid woman. He would deal with her so that she wouldn't forget him in a hurry.

"That is okay too. 9pm will be fine" Miranda Alvan declared and winked an eye. She allowed her eyes to linger to a certain part of his body and blew kisses.

Romeo sank into the sofa after Miranda Alvan left. This is more complex than he had thought. Has it gotten to this point in her desperation?

Lucas and the two women had dinner. It was fun-filled. He took them from there to the movies. He sat between the two women, and ate popcorn.

It was getting late and he offered to drop them off at home. After agreeing, they decided to drop Pamela off first and then drive Alice to her place.

Lucas bought chicken legs and ice cream for the Quadruplets and gave them to Pamela. He acted like a father who got something for his kids on his way home.

"You're going to be an amazing father, Lucas," Pamela complimented. He was meticulous and caring. How was Emma so stupid to lose her chances of being with him forever?

"I hope so, someday. Thanks anyways" Lucas appreciated. He slid behind the steering and offered Alice a cup of Vanilla ice cream.

"Thank you Lucas" Alice appreciated. This guy is sweet. She glared at him from the rear mirror and their eyes locked. A gush of adrenaline ran down her spine.

Lucas saw her shyly, looked away and then glanced at Pamela. Her eyes met with hers and Pamela smiled. It's amazing. These two might eventually be having something for each other.

"What about Pamela's?" Alice asked. Pamela wanted to tell her she doesn't like ice cream with a vanilla flavour when Lucas beat her to it.

"Pamela doesn't like vanilla ice cream. I got her yoghurt with a mild sugar content" he said and chuckled.

"Yes, it's here in the package along with that of the kids" Pamela showed her.

"Oh, you seem to know a lot about Pamela," Alice mumbled. Lucas' paused. He closed his eyes and was quiet for a while.

"Did I say something wrong?" Alice asked. She saw the sudden quietness that accompanied her last sentence. Pamela smiled but Lucas was quiet.

"Nothing Hun" Pamela replied, tapping her hand gently.

"I wasn't expecting such a sensitive question," Lucas declared. He glanced at Alice again from the rear mirror and smiled "You're an amazing woman to be with" he added, brushing off the guilt she now feels

Alice smiled and started scooping the ice cream to her mouth. It's hard to believe that she's a doctor. She's friendly and sweet to be with.

Lucas started the ignition and drove towards Pamela's Mansion. He contemplated Alice's question. It's true, she's right.

He knows a lot about Pamela. Probably more than Louis. Her temper is the only thing that keeps changing. She might flare up like lightning and the next moment, she would be calm like an ocean.

This would have been the best time for Louis to get to know her better but then, nature is playing with their emotions for each other.

When they arrived at Pamela's Mansion, she alighted and said thanks to Lucas and Alice. She hopes to hang out with them next time.

Alice waved at her and said she would check on her that night through a call and the next morning respectively.

"Come over to the front" Lucas said and Alice did. They said goodnight to Pamela as Lucas drove off.

Pamela stood until they were out of the gate before sighing. She has this feeling about Alice and Lucas. She observed some unnoticed glances from each of them.

She turned and walked towards the door. A sudden loneliness swept over her. Louis is gone out of her life temporarily. She hopes this amnesia disappears so he can come back to her.

As they left, Alice scooped a spoon of ice cream and turned quickly, shoving it into Lucas' mouth.

The latter was not expecting it. He was shocked when she forced it into his mouth. He swallowed and chuckled. "Thank you" he said, glancing at her briefly.

"How long have you been Pamela's friend?" Alice asked, taking a scoop of ice cream into her mouth and turning herself to glance at Lucas.

"Well… let's say over eight years now. We had a past but I married her sister" Lucas replied.

Alice's hand suddenly paused. They had a past but he married her sister. Isn't his statement a paradox?
