Chapter 26: Chapter 26
The response hit Pamela hard. Scrap her hair to baldness? As in not a single hair on her scalp?
She nodded and said with moist eyes "please go ahead" A lone tear dropped down her eyes and she cleaned it off.
The Trichologist nodded and gave her a form to sign on. Pamela did and she called a male assistant of hers to do the scrapping.
Sitting before the mirror, Pamela watched until her once beautiful long hair dropped to the floor. She looked different. She felt she had a face that didn't belong to her.
Looking at the stranger that stare back at her from the mirror, she mumbled "Louis, I wouldn't mind losing an eye as well if only I can get to be with you again"
"Sorry I didn't get you" The Trichologist asked. She heard her clients mutter some words and cannot make anything out of it.
"I was only talking to this stranger that is staring back at me" Pamela replied and the Trichologist sighed.
Soon Pamela was done with the treatment. Some ointment was recommended alongside some drugs.
Pamela made some orders and different wigs were displayed. She chose the one that suits her well. The one that captivated her was a blonde wig and she went for it.
"I hope one of these days, we can have tea together?" The Trichologist asked, smiling back at the woman staring at her from the mirror.
"I hope so," Pamela replied. She looked at herself in the mirror. Now, the resemblance is near to who she used to be except that her long dark hair is gone and it's replaced with a shorter blond.
"Can we exchange cards?" The Trichologist asked, and Pamela nodded and they exchanged cards. Pamela glanced at the card in her hand and saw her name to be Alice.
She saw the name and smiled. She smiled for the first time in a few days. She glanced at the Trichologist and said "I look forward to having tea with you"
"Same here, Miss Pamela," Alice said.
Ellis was restless. In the absence of Louis, he took over the Presiding of the company. They were optimistic, Louis would come around soon.
That evening, Pamela called Alice. She asked if they could meet up. Alice said okay. She would get dressed and meet up with her.
Pamela sent her the address to a private room in a hotel. She got there ahead of Alice and waited.
Soon Alice walked in dressed in jeans and a shirt. She wore a wig and looked different from the woman Pamela had met when she went to have her scalp treated.
"Glad you made it. Welcome" Pamela said, offering her a seat and pouring wine for them both.
"Thank you miss Pamela" Alice declared and smiled. Pamela also forced a smile and raised her glass of wine to her lips.
Soon, the two ladies talked and Pamela told her the reason she wanted to see her. Alice nodded and the meeting ended.
Early the next morning, it was Alice's call that awakened Pamela "President Hayden is awake!"
At the same time, Ellis and Leah were notified that Louis was awake. Quickly they got out of bed and headed to the hospital.
Leah was shivering within her. Louis was really going to be mad with her when she arrived at the hospital. She's the reason why he went into a coma.
What will his reaction be when he realised that she wouldn't let Pamela into the ward to see him nor that she fired Romeo.
Anyways, she would apologise to him. But Ellis didn't know a thing about what happened. He was only told that Louis collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.
He asked if Pamela is aware that her fiancé was hospitalised and Leah said Pamela is aware but she said she's too busy to be available by his side.
That made Ellis disappointed in Pamela. He didn't ask after her again. He was going to contend with Pamela. What kind of a woman is she?
Leah was having mixed feelings. Excited and happy to see her son awake but also scared of what his actions might be.
Pamela got out of bed and pulled a plain gown on. Finally Louis is awake. Leah wouldn't be able to stop her from seeing him now.
It's been a week, exactly a week without Louis. She got downstairs with her car keys and stepped into her car. She zooms in the direction to the hospital racing and stepping on the turtle than she usually does.
"Louis" Leah Hayden's shaky voice called, going over to hug her son. He looked expressionless and sat up with his back supported by the pillows.
Leah held Louis' upper body in a warm embrace. "I was scared, baby. I wouldn't be able to take it if anything happens to you. I was so scared" she stuttered, kissing Louis' temple like he was a little guy.
"How are you son?" Ellis asked, walking closer and caressing his hair. Ellis and Leah love Louis their son more than anything in this life. And their love for him was visibly expressed.
"I'm fine now, dad. How long have I been unconscious?" Louis asked, looking at the drip still fixed in his arm.
"A week Hun," Leah replied.
Suddenly the door pushed open and Pamela walked in, panting and smiling broadly. She was happy seeing Louis awake indeed and she couldn't bring herself to say anything for a few seconds.
Louis' eyes turned dark. Who is this woman, and why would she barge into a private ward without being permitted. What kind of mentality do people have?
"Are you crazy to barge into a private ward like this, besides who the hell are you?" Louis thundered. He glared at the lousy woman and snorted.
Pamela looked behind her, still smiling. She also looked around, no one else was in the room besides herself and his parents.
"My love," Pamela said, walking closer.
Louis' facial expression changed as he ordered "stop there!" He growled and looked at his dad "Who is this crazy lousy woman?"
