Chapter 137: Chapter 137
Louis had his chauffeur drop her off. Pamela wouldn't give him a response. She had simply taken her purse, hung it on her elbow and walked out.
He didn't stop her. He didn't try to pressure her. He was quiet. He let her go. It's her decision to either be with him or go for Fred Meyer.
But one thing is certain, he would not be able to forgive himself and his Mom if he loses Pamela to another man. She'd been hurt, yes but he's also ready to bound up her broken heart.
When Pamela arrived home , her mother and grandmother had gone to bed. She went to check the kids. They were all asleep.
She went to Ethan and carried him in her arms. How good will it be for them all to be together. If Louis hadn't slipped a ring through Miranda's finger, things would have long been straightened out between them as soon as he recovers his memory.
How can she be the second best in a man's life? She has kids with him. If others were conceived by surrogacy, what about Ethan. He was made out of love.
She cannot love anyone else besides him. She loves Louis. If she's to make a choice between him and Fred, it's obvious who she will go with.
How can she leave the man she loves and be with Fred? A man she now has five kids with. That's impossible. Even without the kids, she's interested only in Louis.
After cuddling Ethan for a while, she went back to her room. She saw Louis' missed calls. She returned the call.
Louis felt butterflies in his belly. Pamela returned his call, it only meant she's gradually growing a soft spot for him. At last, he's gaining access into her heart.
"Thanks for honouring my invitation today" Louis said, smiling. He hopes she will talk with him more often henceforth.
"You're welcome. Are you home now?" Pamela asked. Is Miranda Alvan still with him or did he go through with his divorce with her?
"Yep. I came home directly from the garden. I wish we could meet more often henceforth. Can we do it?" Louis asked.
They were calling via an audio call. Louis wished it was a video call so he could see her facial expression after saying his last sentence.
"I don't think it would be convenient that way. Doing so once in a while is alright, Louis" Pamela replied, sitting on her bed and bringing out Louis' picture that has perpetually been placed under her pillow.
She caressed his face and let her index finger linger on his lips. So cute. Heaven knows how many times she had secretly caressed his face through the picture and often ended up dozing off with it in her hands.
"Why is it because of your boyfriend Fred?" Louis asked, a hint of jealousy in his tone. And without spelling it out, he was very uncomfortable with what that bastard surnamed Meyer said earlier that day.
"No, it's not about him, it's about your whore that cheap wife of yours" Pamela snapped at him. It's her turn to express jealousy in her tone.
There was a long silence that followed. Louis sensed the jealousy in her tone and knew that her feelings towards him were similar to how he was feeling towards her. The feeling is mutual.
"That's one of the things I wanted us to talk about. Miranda and I are divorced" Louis blurted. Saying those words to Pamela makes him feel better now.
There was another long silence between them. Pamela smiled broadly. She felt happy and triumphant. Finally, the imbecile has been pushed off
That's what she wants and that's what happened. She boasted of owing Louis to the ends of time as if there won't be a chance for him to recover his memory and discover her lies and deception.
She can't wait to set her eyes on her and throw her tongue out to her in mockery. A butterfly that describes herself as a bird.
But then she remembered something. Quickly, she asked "What about her daughter?"
"She's not mine. Isabella is her ex-husband's daughter and I already gave her to her father" Louis responded. How can he be so empty headed back then to be making love to a woman who is pregnant with another man's baby?
He gave himself wholly into that relationship and married her because she was pregnant. But it's all lies and deception. Jubilating over deception and yet his own child was being carried by his mother without his presence around him.
"I know. I've always known that you are not responsible for Miranda Alvan's baby. I was still pregnant when she already had her baby.
I had thought you got her pregnant until I heard she delivered before me. Though it seemed preterm, but then, that baby was still more mature than mine.
But I choose not to say anything because you are both married. I don't want to interfere with your marriage, with your home and with your lives. I just wanted to mind my business," Pamela stuttered.
"You should have at least said something. Besides I have no home anywhere else besides being by your side. You're my woman and my heart beats for only you" Louis cautioned.
"So you divorced her because she lied to deceive you?" Pamela asked. There are two important reasons here. It is either because she lied to him or perhaps he realised her cunning way of transferring another man's child to him.
"No, I divorced her because she's not the woman I love. She's not my fiancée and she meant nothing to me.
And I sent her to jail because she poisoned me for several months, making my recovery retarded thereby securing her pseudo place as my woman…"Louis explained.
Pamela sighed softly. So that's it. This is how anxious Miranda was to remain by Louis' side that she took such drastic measures?
She suspected that something was amiss. It wasn't supposed to be so long before recovering. That's why she went ahead and did some research and even booked a session with a foreigner.
She was actually poisoning him? Poor Louis. He had to be subjected to such harsh treatment from his supposed wife.
It's all Leah Hayden's fault. If she hadn't thrown her son out at the feet of a crazy tigress, it wouldn't have been able to devour him. A certain part of her felt softened.
If she hadn't poisoned him, he possibly wouldn't have stayed so long before ending up marrying her. She plotted it and it worked out for her.
"Did your mom know about it? Did she know that the woman she found for you was destroying you?" Pamela asked. Since she started the game, she should know when the game went twisted and things took a different turn and dimension.
"Yes. She knows. When she realised that we were having sex and she was pregnant, I learnt she confronted Miranda Alvan as to why she went against the deal.
She was meant to stay by my side and portrayed herself as my fiancée and nothing more. But I fell to her seduction and when Leah Hayden learnt it, Miranda Alvan was not remorseful.
On the contrary, Miranda Alvan threatened her that if she doesn't play deaf and blind to her relationship with me, she would cause me permanent brain damage. When Leah Hayden heard that, she was scared.
She couldn't bear to see her son's state of mind go like a zombie. Hence she played along while nursing her wounds secretly and obviously in tears like I was told" Louis explained.
Pamela believed him. She remembered one time Miranda Alvan said something like taking advantage of Leah Hayden's deal and Louis.
She went against the deal and dealt Leah Hayden a deadly blow of betrayal. That's what happens to people like Leah. In an attempt to send her away, she brought in a plague and a devourer.
Everything is making sense now. Louis was a victim of it all. It wasn't only her. He was taken advantage of and the resultant effect of it was her, being hurt.
But then, why was he calling his mom by her name? "Why were you using your mom's first and last name to address her, what's wrong with you calling her Mom?" Pamela inquired.
"She's not my mom anymore" Louis replied simply. After what she's done to his love life, the least he can do is to sever ties with her.
Pamela doesn't understand what that sentence meant. What does he mean by saying Mrs Leah Hayden is not his mother anymore?.
"What do you mean, I don't understand?" Pamela asked, eager for a proper explanation of his last statement.
"I severed ties with her and I disowned her after I realised what she did to you and splitting us apart" Louis explained.
Pamela jumped out of bed in a bewildered state. What did Louis just say? Severed ties with his Mom because of her?
