Chapter 138: Chapter 138

She placed her hand on her chest. No, Louis shouldn't have gone out of place to do that to his mom. Motherhood cannot be replaced by anything else in the world.

Aunt Leah might have crossed every limit and gone over her boundaries with her actions and coalition with Miranda Alvan, but nothing can deny the fact that she loves her son very much.

She might be protecting her son from a supposed toxic woman like she claimed, but her love for Louis is unparalleled and it's second to none.

She's not in support of this. A man can always get several women and can choose to get a replacement for any of his women but where can a replacement be found for a mother?

Mothers are unique. Real, loving mothers cannot be bought with gold or silver. Amazing and great mothers are jewels of an inestimable price.

And one of such great mothers is Leah Hayden to her son. Back then when she just met her, when she pleaded with her to be a surrogate mother, she saw love and purity in her dealings towards her.

She once defended her from Emma's tongue lashing. She urged her to stand up and defend herself. That woman was sweet and amazing back then.

She doesn't deserve such harsh treatment from her only child. That's too much for her mistake. Everything was a mistake. She didn't expect her partner in the plot to betray her.

"You are wrong to treat Aunt that way, Louis. She loves you dearly, more than anything in this life. You shouldn't have gone that far" Pamela reprimanded him.

"That's the least I can do, Pamela. Should I have shot a bullet into her skull, choked her or suffocated her. Blackmail or go physical with her?

That is the least and best punishment for what she did. That's the only way I can appease my broken heart for everything I made you go through" Louis explained.

"No. I disagree with you. You can just walk away and stay off for some time. When you become calm, you return and find a way to forge ahead with life" Pamela rebuffed.

"What are you saying Pamela? Have you forgotten what she did?" Louis asked, wondering how soon Pamela could have forgotten what his Mom and himself did to her.

Women are soft hearted. Only a few of them act like women of steel. A larger percentage of them can forgive anything. And Pamela must definitely have fallen into such a category.

"Of course I do," Pamela replied. And so what, is that why he would give her such cruel treatment?

"She ruined our relationship. Split us apart. Brought a scavenger who perpetually never gets sexually satisfied to be by my side. What about your hair she pulled out?

What about the emotional trauma I put you through? What about my son, Ethan who never felt the warmth of his father while he was in the belly whereas I kept thrusting into another woman carrying another man's child…" Louis was recounting the whole ordeal when Pamela interrupted him.

"I know all of that. But she became powerless against Miranda Alvan. Think about that. You should go back and apologise to her and get things straightened out" Pamela gave a verdict.

Louis chuckled softly. This woman must definitely be joking. He should go and apologise to his mom after what she'd done to them? Shouldn't she be the one to apologise to them?

"Then what about us? She should apologise to us instead. Look at us, we can't be together with our kids. Doesn't that matter to you at all?" Louis demanded.

He in particular, he can't imagine himself being like that. His Mom was the reason they suspended their wedding that morning. Now, she wants him to go and apologise to her?

"You should do that first. Things will eventually fall into place. But do the first thing first" Pamela insisted.

Louis perceived a ray of hope in Pamela's words. Perhaps things can return to what they used to be. A day will eventually come when he will hold her in his arms again and call her his woman.

"I will think it through. But I will only do it if you promise to join us for a cocktail party tomorrow at the Hayden's cooperation conference hall" Louis placed a condition.

After thinking it through, Pamela replied "Alright. I will join you. Send a reminder an hour before the time" she requested.

"Sure" Louis responded. He is happy. This is great. That evening was definitely amazing, eventually. Fred Meyer almost ruined it but he was able to get her to listen to his words.

Whether through a phone conversation or a face to face conversation. What is most important to him at that moment was that she listened and heard his side of the story.

"Good night" Pamela said and rather than reply to her in the same words as hers, he said "I love you very much, Pamela" and hung up.

Pamela brought the phone closer to her chest. She smiled. Her eyes went moist. She understands some things now. This is entirely not Louis' fault.

He still loves her alone. He went that far with his mother? No wonder the woman came to apologise to her and blacked out when she saw her friend Alice Johnson or better still, Sister Susana.

She loves him as she'd always been. Louis is hers to claim. He's divorced. He regretted his marriage to that devil and now, just like her, he is single again.

That makes it even. They are both on the same page now. So they can see more often and perhaps they can eventually bond together again.

Louis couldn't curtail the excitement in him. This is a green sign. There's a chance for him. He might take her away from Fred Meyer. She might later choose to go with him and leave that mistake of a boyfriend she's got.

He also had committed an everlasting mistake by getting involved with Miranda Alvan. But he has corrected his mistake. He hopes she does the same and fling that fellow called Fred, away.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. A new dawn is approaching. But once she agrees to be back with him, he would be getting married as quickly as she agrees.

He would have to seal her to himself forever. He won't be taking any more chances like he did in the past. If he hadn't listened to her and postponed their union, perhaps none of this mess would have ever happened.

For the first time since Louis Hayden recovered his memory, he was eager to go to bed so as to wake up early enough and await the time of the party.

In his happy mood and excitement, Louis smiled to his sleep.

The next morning, when Pamela came downstairs for breakfast, she saw everyone seated except sister Susana and her grandma.

"Where is my grandmother, and also sister Susana?" Pamela asked, passing a quick glance at Alyana and the blabbing Ethan.

"They both took off to Middletown City early this morning" Alyana responded respectfully.
