Chapter 20: Chapter 20

I pushed him with all my might and sobbed thinking I am going to be a monster. He interrupted me with a stare. "Your fever should be gone by now." He said as he walked towards the dressing table. He then took a tissue to wipe his lips . I touched my forehead and it's no longer hot. Yes, fever is gone.

"How did you do that?" I asked him softly while sitting up . I feel so much better to be honest.

"My blood . It healed you." He replied while giving me an annoyed look and I looked down.

"I thought I'd turn into a-"

"A monster?" he cut me off, his voice laced with venom and I felt bad.

"You can turn Only if I wanted to. You can turn into a vampire if you have my consent." He explained while taking off his shirt and I blushed slightly before turning away.

"I didn't know that." I said softly.

"You would've if you had patience to listen. But you didn't bother to listen." He said with a hint of annoyance in his voice making me feel guilty.

It's not like I asked for his help. But it's not fair to be ungrateful. After all he helped me get better.

"Thank you Alex-"

"Don't!" he snapped and the next moment he is in front of me.

"But I-" before I could start, Alex hissed causing me to shut my mouth.

"Get ready for the party tomorrow." He said shortly before walking up to the door.

"What party?" I asked and he turned to glance at me, giving me an annoying look.

"Find it by yourself." He grumbled before leaving the room.

At midnight, as planned I rushed out of my room to meet David. I ran downstairs and my eyes instantly found him . He was waiting for me near the main door, his face tensed up as soon as he noticed me.

"Katy, Alex is not here. I don't think it's safe for you to go out right now." He tried to change my mind the moment I walked up to him . Not again! I shook my head.

"Alex not here? Then it's easy. And you promised David! I was looking forward to it the whole day." I whined like a kid, putting my hands on my hips in frustration . This will work with him. he ruffled up his hair nervously.

" Alex went out. What if you bump into him? And why do you want toeet your parents anyways? Are you planning to run away again because it's impossible-"

"I am not trying to escape David, I just want to see them, that's it." I cut him off, amgry with his allegations. He sighed and I realized that I have to be nice.

"Please, just a night . I will be back early morning. I've been here for two weeks, David." I said slowly as I looked at him.

"Fine, but if something happens to you-"

"David thanks!" I whisper-shouted, cutting him off impatiently . I could see something flash in his eyes before it disappeared.

"Be back before dawn. And be careful," He smiled a little before opening the door. "Everyone's in the dining room. Feeding is about to begin and I'll distract them for as long as I can." He mumbled and I quickly nodded before rushing out of the palace, a cold breeze greeted me as I walked out.

"Should I runaway or go visit my parents?" I wondered as I passed through the gate. I noticed that not many people are around the road I am walking on. Suddenly I am getting scared.

"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea." I mumbled to myself, looking up at the full moon and hugging myself while stopping near a big fence.

"Surprised to see you here, sweetheart." A familiar voice said and I turned around real quick to face Terry, I backed myself against the wall.

"What the hell, Terry? You scare me. What are you doing here?!" I whisper-shouted, looking around checking if anyone noticed his presence yet.

"Why are you always so jumpy?" he teased while walking up to me as I took another step back. Vampire alert.

"I don't trust you!" I blurted out, narrowing my eyes at him as he laughed. I remained silent for a while, contemplating whether I should just go back inside or have a decent conversation with this weirdo. "Take a deep breath first. I am not going to hurt you. " He suggested with a chuckle, walking up to me and I was about to back up when he cupped my face, his eyes looking into mine.

"Relax." He said softly, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips . I couldn't help but shudder at his touch.

"I'm not afraid of you, Terry. I just want some answers." I said while composing myself.

"Go ahead." He said shortly, tilting his head to a side as I walked closer, making sure I kept a safe distance between us. Like I said, I don't trust this guy anymore.

"Who are you? What have you against the ivanov brothers? Why did you give me that bracelet? How did we even meet up that night? Why are you always stalking me?" I started pouring down all my questions and he just nodded his head.

"I already told you my name. I gave you that bracelet because I wanted to protect you. I followed you that night and met up near your tent. You were already drunk." He answered after a while and I walked closer to him, folding my hands across my chest.

"Where was everybody when you gave me that bracelet? How were you not seen?" I asked, feeling a little impatient.

"They weren't around when I saw you. I was cautious enough, Kate." He replied while slipping his hands inside the jeans and pulling out another bracelet that looked very familiar to the one he gave me. The only difference was the black stone.

" Why are you helping me, Terry?" I hugged myself tightly as he put the bracelet back inside.

"I don't have anything against them, I just have some unfinished business with Alexander Ivanov." He stated with so much hatred in his voice.

"Wh-why?" I stammered a little, clearly intimidated by his presence . But he just grinned at me.

"Now I can't spill it out. So, can you trust me now?" he asked while scratching the back of his hair. I simply shook my head.

"Guess you're not as dumb as I thought you'd be." He barely muttered under his breath and my eyes widened at his blunt words.

"Excuse me?" I took another step back and he scratched the back of his hair again.

"Are-are you saying th-that I am a-" before I could finish, he stopped me by placing his index finger on my lips.

"Another time then?" he suggested as he turned around and started running.

"Wait!" I yelled but he didn't stop. With a sigh, I turned around and let out a sigh. What the hell was wrong with that guy? Was he planning to help me or get me in trouble?

I quickly rushed inside the palace and slowly opened the door before walking in.

"Thank god." I breathed, realizing that nobody was around and started heading back to my room. Just as I walked inside my room, i saw a familiar figure standing near my bed and my pulse started racing instantly. My body started to tremble upon seeing Alex's furious expression.

"Where the hell have you been?!" He snapped, running up to me in such a speed, I backed myself against the door.

"I-I just went out for a quick-"

"Who the fuck gave you permission to go out?!" he yelled, placing his hands on either side of me on the door .

"I-I'm sorry-"

"I don't want your fucking apology! I already warned you rina." He spat with anger as I clutched my hands together to stop myself from shaking.

"I promise it was nothing more than a walk, I would never run away again-"

"I think I should pay another visit to your parents." He interrupted, giving me his usual cold glare and I shook my head, my eyes widening the size of saucers.

"I didn't do anything! It was just a walk, if I knew that..." I trailed away, swallowing down the lump in my throat. " Too late" He grabbed my shoulders, roughly pushing me to a side and opening the door. No, not my parents again!

"Alex, stop! I'm sorry!" I cried, running through the hallway before caught up with him. I grabbed his hands, tears already flowing like a river.

"Don't waste your tears!" he spat, swatting his hand away and was about to start walking . But I stepped in front of him, tightly grabbing his black leathered jacket .

"I'll do anything! Please, don't hurt them alex! Don't do it again, you can't do that again, I will never forgive you!" I cried, banging his chest with my fists . I gasped when he grabbed my wrists before slamming me against the wall. I winced in pain when he glared at me, causing me cower in fear.

"What makes you think your forgiveness matter to me?" he asked through gritted teeth, pressing my wrists rather tightly.

"I'll make it up for you, anything! I promise, please- Alex" I started begging again.

"Anything?" his voice turned all soft at my words as he came near me. I nod my head quickly.

"Yes. Please leave my parents alone..." I choked out the words with much difficulty.

"Kiss me, Barbie" He whispered, his lips barely touching mine now and my mouth was hing open at his words.

"Wh-why? Kiss..?"

"Because I know how much you hate it," he said while kissing my cheek then his lips came closer to my earlobe, causing me to freeze. " Also I want you to know how much I enjoy seeing you like this." His words are as disgusting as him.

"Alex, can we?"

"You want me to forgive you or not?" he asked, grabbing my waist before pulling me closer to him. I could only nod. " Then Kiss me." He mumbled, leaning his face closer as I bit my bottom lip, still contemplating whether to kiss him or not. Now is not the time for compromise. I have heard what Alex was capable of , so it was always best to never anger him. "O-okay but promise me that-"

"Screw it." Alex said before grabbing my cheeks and leaning into a rough kiss while pushing me against the wall. I grabbed his shirt collar and was about to push him away when he bit my bottom lip so hard that I gasped in pain. He used this chance to slip his tongue inside and press his body against mine . Just as he deepened the kiss, someone cleared his voice . I instantly pulled away and quickly wiping my lips using the back of my palm in disgust. Alex growl in frustration before turning to face James, who was now walking up to us with a small smirk on his face . I felt a blush creep up on my face before I turned away.

"What is it?" Draven asked and I was about to slip past him but he placed an arm around my waist, holding me in place.

"It's about the Mendez-"

"What about them? What did he do?" Alex asked him not letting him to finish. James ruffled his hair before sighing, the color on his face fading away within seconds.

"I don't know the details either but apparently, they came back to our town in order to find someone," He said while looking at Alex and then back at me, his eyes flickering in doubt and confusion.

"I'm assuming that they already found that person?" Alex asked with no emotion in his voice as James slowly nodded before shifting his gaze back at me .

"They're looking for her." He said softly, while pointing his finger at me . I gasped in shock at his words before I turned to look at Alex who flinched a little.

"I-I don't un-understand-"

"They're looking for you, Katy," James cut me off as he took a step towards me.

"They want you."

Who are they? What did they probably want from me?
