Chapter 32: Chapter 32
In the morning, Kendall is preparing for the first day of being his bodyguard ... as Kendall. He was not comfortable with the situation. But there is something he enjoys. He no longer had to come in and pretend to be a student.
When he came out of the room he was surprised by the piled up garbage plastics piled up outside Grayson's room. He saw Manang Cora fixing them.
"What happened Manang?"
"I don't even know. As long as we were called early in the morning to clean up here."
He peeked through the ajar door of the room. The floor was littered with clutter and cracked things. The cleaning assistants are busy here. He was amazed at what he saw and tried to enter. But when he was at the door Grayson appeared in front of him. It gave him a cold stare as he adjusted the dress he was wearing.
"Strangers are not allowed inside my room."
Kendall backed away. He obeyed what he heard. But before he could turn around, he noticed the man's wounded hand as he adjusted his collar. There was a sudden twitch in his chest. Was he able to hurt himself as well because of resentment?
He ate breakfast alone. He took the initiative not to go with his grandfather. While eating he saw Grayson walking to the garage. She immediately finished breakfast and chased the man.
"Aren't you going to have breakfast?"
"I don't have appetite."
Arriving at the garage, the man handed him the car key. She sat in the back and stared at him seriously in the mirror.
"I'm letting you fullfill your job because of grandpa. Don't ever think of other reasons why you're still here at home .... And also from now on, I can't promise that everything will be easy between you and me. "
"I'm not expecting anything from you Grayson. Don't worry, I'm only keeping an eye on you for a while. I'm also doing this because of your grandfather but I'll also be looking for a replacement for me. There are more waiting and suitable jobs for me in the headquarters. "
Grayson didn't answer. He simply motioned for the woman to start the car.
Arriving on campus Kendall was still tailgating the walk to the classroom. Grayson blocked him.
"Where are you going? You're not a student, aren't you?" its sarcastic language.
"I'm just going to Nancy."
"Will you also ask for an apology from one of the people you convinced?"
"No. I just want to talk to him."
Grayson let him pass but he taunted him first. He peeked through the classroom door to see Nancy's place. The student was not there. He waited outside the classroom, thinking it might just be too late.
Halfway through class there was still no Nancy to come. Instead Cady caught up with him while waiting.
"M-Cady?"
It approached him with a wistful smile. It moved away from where he stood.
"Grayson is not answering my call since Saturday ..." he complained.
"I'm sorry Cady. Grayson's brain is just confused right now because of what happened," he said softly while patting the sad woman on the shoulder.
"I know ..." Cady nodded. "I've heard about everything ... I was shocked," he raised his face to look at her. "Thank you for saving Grayson."
He nodded with a miserly smile. He was moved by the woman's gratitude while between him and Grayson the matter was not an issue. Today the pain caused by his pretense is more prevalent.
"You have nothing to thank Cady, that's my job," he said.
"I would like to apologize also for setting you up to my brother. I feel embarassed now."
"I understand that. You don't have to worry," he laughed.
"Also, I'd like to say sorry that I was jealous because of you over Grayson. Now, I understand why my brother told me that it was impossible for what I was thinking to happen."
The smiles on Kendall's face disappeared. He was slightly remorseful at what he heard. She has no other intention of being close to Grayson but to indulge herself in the temporary happiness she feels when she is with him. He had no other motive than to be friends. But did he really abuse the closeness of the two of them? And is it just right for Cady to be jealous of him?
"W-You don't have to be jealous Cady. After the events, even maybe Grayson and I's friendship can't be restored ... I'll leave you here. Class is about to end. I'll be back in the car," he said suddenly. he avoided.
He waited inside the car. He looked at the approaching lover. At first it seemed normal for the two to talk. But soon it seemed to be arguing until Grayson turned his back on the crying woman.
Grayson walked closer to the car. He rode on the back seat and madly closed the door.
"Let's go to my next class."
Kendall wanted to ask him what happened but his tongue backed out because he knew it would only block him.
Grayson had been cold all day with Kendall. There are times when the man looks as if he is alone. As much as possible it doesn’t even look at his bodyguard. And as the sun went down it said where it was going.
"Let's go to racing venue."
"You still have a class ah," Kendall commented in astonishment.
"It's none of your business."
The girl could do nothing but follow the hot -headed man. When it came to the racetrack, the whole gang was already there. They greeted Grayson warmly.
"Whoah! Look who's here? Welcome back Bro! Your period also didn't go ah!" opening of a buddy.
Grayson happily embraced them. The whole gang is once again surrounded by sexy women. Soon someone approached Grayson with a beer.
"Long time no see babe. I miss you," he said softly as he reached for the beer.
Grayson accepted the wine offer. "I miss you too Mariel," he teasingly whispered in the woman's ear. Smiling he turned her small waistband and kissed her deeply on the lips.
"Wooooooh! What a comeback by pretty boy Grayson!" croak of the whole gang.
Kendall was sitting on the hood of their parked car. He no longer approached the men. He just silently watched what was happening.
He saw what Grayson had done. If he gave himself up, at the same time he dragged the man back to the car. But he had to accept whatever it was doing because from the moment he exposed his true identity he had deprived himself of the right to interfere in its life.
Chester noticed Kendall. "Huh! Isn't that Hailey Grayson? I thought you couldn't be with her anymore?" he said.
The whole group turned to where Kendall was. The group waved happily. "HaileyAAAA!" simultaneously call them.
Kendall also returned the smile and waved.
"Stop waving at her guys! She's not Hailey!" Grayson's angry command.
"What do you mean?" Chester asked in astonishment.
"You want to know? Go ask her," Grayson replied smiling. "Ah and by the way, be careful with your actions. Because that person is a policewoman!" he reminded the friend.
The whole group was amazed at what they heard and at the same time they looked at the smiling girl. Everything is swallowed. They used to be afraid of the brave woman and now their fear of what they found out only increased.
------
Don Arthur called Kendall to his office inside the house. After the big incident, they just met and talked again.
"Inspector ..." the old man said to the girl sitting in front of his desk.
"It's just Kendall, Don Arthur."
"Kendall .... I just want to say thank you for protecting Grayson."
"It's not my job, Don Arthur. I'm sorry if I was able to lie to you. I don't want to do this but there's no other way for us to save Grayson and catch the syndicate," Kendall explained shyly.
"I understand everything."
"Thank you."
"Kendall, you know that you're almost like a real granddaughter to me ..."
"I'm also Don Arthur, I treat you like my real grandfather."
"If only my feelings and my requests were important to you."
"Of course. Are you going to ask me something so you called me?"
The old man took a deep breath and looked seriously at the girl's face. "Kendall ... I've requested you to protect Grayson because I know that you care for him ..."
"Don Arthur-"
"I can't entrust him to another policeman except you ..." Don Arthur sighed again. "However, I would have asked you for one more thing and I know it's hard to do but I hope you can still give me ... I know that Grayson is hurting a lot now because of you. As Grayson's grandfather, I know how my grandson feels. I'm not sure yet .... but I'm afraid that Grayson has feelings for you. "
Kendall raised his head at what he heard. He looked at the speaker with a confused face.
"Yes, Kendall. I think Grayson likes you ... a lot."
She swallowed and could not hide the redness on her cheeks. "Don Arthur, you're wrong. Your grandson only thinks of me as a friend."
"I don't think so Kendall," Don Arthur said calmly. "And this is the reason I want to talk to you very seriously ... I would beg you to take Grayson's heart away from you."
Kendall was shocked. He gave the old man a confused look.
"It's not that I don't like you. I like you a lot. I like you as a granddaughter. I like you as a person but ..... I don't want you to be Grayson's woman."
“What do you mean? Why do you need to talk to me about that? "The woman asked confused.
"Kendall, maybe Grayson has already told you about our agreement about his marriage."
"Wow."
"The reason I had that agreement is because I want him to have a family of his own before I leave this world. I don't want him to be left alone. I want him to have a woman who can stay with him forever."
Kendall sneezed. "N-It's not like I'm offering myself, but can I ask why I can't?"
"Kendall, I'm sorry to say this ... I don't want Grayson to be with a woman in the pit on one foot all the time."
Kendall was stunned. He was suddenly offended by what Don Arthur had said but he did not know why. Did it hit his pride as a cop or was it because there was truth to what it said why he didn’t deserve Grayson? He forced a smile and tried to hide the pain that had gripped his chest.
"I-I understand you Don Arthur. Don't worry because first of all, such a thing never entered my mind. I-I only think of your grandson as a friend. If he was even close I'm with Grayson maybe it's just the result of my pretending .... "
"... H-let him know that now that he knows my true identity, I will put limits on myself. S-from now on, my only role with your grandson will be as his guardian and s-he also as I'm watching .... "
"... I-I think that's exactly what will happen because I know that's why Grayson used to accept me because of Hailey's personality. I-I'm not as Kendall. If what you're saying about is true As Grayson feels, that's for Hailey and that person doesn't exist anymore so you don't have to worry. "
Don Arthur was relieved by the words spoken by the speaker. "Thank you Kendall. You are a very understanding child ... thank you."
"I-I know you're doing this because of your love for Grayson ... Do you have anything else to say? I-can I leave now?"
"No more Kendall ... thank you."
Kendall stood up and strained to step on his heavy feet.
"Kendall ... I hope you won't misunderstand me. I like you and I truly see you as my own granddaughter," the old man said.
"I-I know. Thank you."
When he left the room, Kendall immediately leaned against the wall. He touched the chest and massaged it while repeatedly breathing deeply. Everything Don Arthur said was right. Everything he answered was also correct. But why does there seem to be a secret protest in his heart? Why is he still sad despite the truth in Don Arthur’s explanations?
He walked back to his room and while in the hallway he spotted Grayson. He was accompanied by the woman who had just kissed him on the racetrack. He will meet the two.
"Wow Grayson your house is huge. And seriously, how many rooms do you have?"
"A lot. But you know what? I prepared the best room for you."
The two guards passed him as if no one had seen them. Suddenly his ears tingled.
"Grayson!"
The two stopped. The man looked at her and smiled foolishly.
"What is it, woman?"
He wanted to separate these contiguous bodies. He wanted to beat the man. He wanted to twist his hand in the rebellion it was doing. He wants to shout it out! He wanted to obey it again as before! .... But he suddenly remembered the conversation they had just had with Don Arthur.
"Nothing," he said softly.
Grayson turned his back on him. He let the two walk away until he saw them entering one of the rooms.
