Chapter 31: Chapter 31

Headquarters. After the encounter against members of the venomus, police took Grayson straight to the chief’s office. Don Arthur quickly got there. Meanwhile, Kendall intends to avoid the grandfather. When he arrived at the headquarters, he went straight to the interrogation room.

Kendall faces one of the educated leaders of the latter group. It was sitting in a chair with its handcuffed hands behind it. Noah was standing outside the room and formally watching the questioning through a one way mirror window.

Kendall repeatedly walks straight in front of the suspect while questioning. The face is brave. Speak strongly. And with irritating eyes.

"What's your name?"

"Mario Librada."

"How old are you?"

"Twenty-eight."

"Where are you from?"

"Negros occidental."

"Do you have a wife?"

"There is."

"Son?"

"Two."

"What is the name of the syndicate you belong to?"

The man did not answer. Just look at it on the floor.

"When have you been a member of the syndicate?"

The man still did not answer. The girl's jaws began to growl.

"What is your purpose with Grayson Hoffman?"

Kendall waited for a moment for an answer but the person being asked remained silent. Gradually, he collapsed. He even gave her a few more questions about the syndicate but she still didn’t find an answer until she could no longer hold back. He approached and without hesitation punched it in the face.

"WHEN YOU ARE ASKED, ANSWER!"

The man's mouth bled with the force of the blow. He spat and looked at the policewoman with a smile. "Even if you pinch my tongue. You won't get any information from me."

Kendall punched the man again. He shook it and pointed at the grinning but trembling face. "Who says we'll just squeeze your tongue ?! If we have to bury you alive we will. There's no place to pity us for criminals like you!"

The suspect retaliated with his glaring stares. "Don't worry. It's not like you caught some of us. It's all over. We have a lot of tentacles. And our group doesn't allow that to happen without retaliating against the aggrieved members."

His anger intensified at what he heard. His already hot blood finally boiled. He kicks the threatening man. "Aggrieved? You're the one who wants to say you're aggrieved!" He pulled out a gun and pointed it at the kidnapper. "Don't threaten us! Because I'll make sure sooner or later when you don't learn to speak, even before your colleagues do what you're saying in return, there's no more air going down your throat."

Noah entered the interrogation room. It could no longer bear not to wean the irritated woman. "That's enough Inspector Whitlock. Don't waste too much energy. There are many more days to come for us to torture those stubborn criminals."

Kendall was taken aback by the young man's rebuke. He returned the gun to the jacket. He turned his back on the kidnapper and walked out of the room. "You'll take care of that person, Inspector Green. Maybe even if he hasn't set foot in jail yet, I'll kill him."

"Ah by the way Inspector Whitlock, the Chief is calling you to his office," Noah said.

Kendall stopped and looked at the colleague. He was suddenly nervous. He knew that Grayson and Don Arthur might still be in the chief's office. "I?" at the same time he taught himself.

"Yes."

------

Several times Kendall hesitated to turn the door knob of Chief Spencer's office. Despite his recovering courage, he still couldn’t deny to himself that he was afraid to face Grayson.

He let out a deep sigh and slowly opened the door. The grandfather sitting in front of the boss's desk exposed himself to him.

"Oh, Inspector Whitlock is here," the chief said.

Don Arthur's smile greeted him and shyly he returned it with a smile.

"Yes chief. You're calling me," he said formally in a humble tone.

He approached the boss's desk and secretly glanced at Grayson. The man was leaning back comfortably in the chair. It sits a little early with one thigh swaying. Its facial expression was blank. He no longer sees it with any anger or fear of what happened. It plays with the wearing watch as if nothing had happened and everything was just normal. Only one thing is different ... it doesn’t look at him.

Chief Spencer spoke. "Inspector Whitlock, I already told Don Arthur and Grayson Hoffman the whole story. They already understand why you were able to disguise. They accepted everything so you don't have to worry."

Nodding, Kendall temporarily removed the attention from Grayson. He listened seriously to what the officer had to say.

"... all you have to do now inspector is continue to keep an eye on Grayson Hoffman."

He was surprised to hear. And even though Don Arthur was in front of him, he couldn't help but ask the chief in a complaining tone. "Chief, did I think my job was done?"

"We haven't talked about finishing your assignment. It's not over yet inspector until we totally shut down the venomus. As of now you still have to protect Grayson. Don Arthur is asking for temporary assistance from us and the above. Grayson's case helped us a lot so they deserved to be protected. And as of now, Don Arthur and those above want you to still do it. "

Kendall was stunned. He wanted to protest and argue with the officer but he could not because of the presence of the old businessman. He was embarrassed to face his request.

"I told you grandpa that I don't need a bodyguard. I can protect myself. I'm used to these kidnapping threats my whole life," Grayson said casually without still looking at Kendall.

It stood once piled on top of the car key table. "I'm tired. I want to go home now. Let's just meet at grandpa's house."

Grayson turned around without even saying goodbye to the two cops. It walked out the door without saying anything else. Kendall's gaze chased after it.

"What else are you doing Inspector Whitlock? Follow Grayson!" command of Chief Spencer.

Kendall was confused as to what to do. He still does not agree with what the boss said. They need to talk about it carefully first.

"Hailey ... I mean inspector I'm begging ... please continue protecting Grayson," Don Arthur pleaded with a pleading face.

Suddenly his mood softened. She couldn't stand the pleading look of the old man. He could do nothing but chase the man who had just come out. He caught up with her about to get into the car.

"Grayson!"

Grayson was stunned to hear the familiar voice. He temporarily wondered whether or not the person who called his name would turn around. He was forced to look behind her. He saw the serious face of the policewoman. He looked at it from head to toe with a look of asking ‘who are you?’.

The woman approached him and held out her palm.

"I have the key."

He did not answer. The reaction was blank as he exchanged glances ahead. The woman spontaneously took the key in her hand. He did not object. He quietly complied with its wishes and moved to the other door. Arriving inside the vehicle no one spoke. He knew the neighbor was feeling him. He didn't want to look at it so he just kept his eyes straight on the road.

More than thirty minutes later he broke the silence without taking his eyes off the road.

"What's your name?"

"Kendall."

He was silent again for a few minutes.

"How old are you?"

"Twenty three."

There was again a long silence.

"How old are you a policewoman?"

"Three years."

Grayson never asked again. He revived the temporarily turned off cellphone. Moments later his phone started ringing.

"Hello, Chester."

"Bro! Are you okay? I just watched you in the news!"

"I'm fine don't worry ..."

"That's good. Hey Bro! I saw Hailey in the TV too. Is she fine too?"

He took a deep breath. "Chester, let's not talk about her. She's not with me anymore."

"Why? Do you two have a problem?"

"Let's talk again next time. I want to take a rest bro."

"Okay. Bye. Take a rest! Be careful!"

"Thanks.Bye ..."

After talking to their friends, the phone rang again. Cady calls. He did not answer it. He turned off the sound of the cellphone and ignored the girlfriend’s consecutive calls.

Arriving home Grayson was still not looking at the companion. Nor does it show any anger on the face. Kendall, on the other hand, is waiting for any reprimand. He was ready to accept all the hurtful words that would be heard. But the man remained silent until they reached the door of their respective rooms.

The thought floated that Grayson closed his room. For a few moments he stood dumbfounded near the door. Gradually his lips and hands trembled until his eyesight slowly deepened. He approached a table and angrily tore away all those sitting on it.

"AAAAA!"

His face began to heat up. Gradually the forced rebellion of the will disappears. He picked up every object he could find one by one and threw it on the floor with all his might. He breaks everything that can be broken. He tore all tearable. Throws away everything that can be thrown away.

"AAAAA!"

When he had nothing to pick up, he punched the wall. He only stopped when he felt the pain in his fists. Stunned he approached the bed and weakly sat on it. After all the anger was poured out, the chest pain gradually took over. It was as if something sharp was repeatedly cutting into his heart. He couldn't breathe much at the depth of the pain that was drawing in his chest.

He could not accept everything he found out. He was just dreaming. It is not true that in an instant he lost the Hailey he had learned to love. His heart almost sank when he fell for the woman only to find out in the end that it was all just a big pretense. He got a smirk on his face. He let the tears drip before he wanted to go away until he gradually started to cry. This is probably the most painful deception ever committed against him.
