Chapter 56: Chapter 56

Chapter 56

Adam's Pov

Death!

You would have no idea how or when you would die. You can't even guess the date, day, or hour.

Everything you've ever earned or possessed When you die, you lose everything in an instant. Death never knocks; it simply arrives like a bullet.

Artyom never abandoned his adversary; he was the most ruthless alpha in the underworld. The members of the Nightwalker pack opened the door and attacked me.

There were four against me.

When I was surrounded by the most brutal enemies, death was dancing around me. The small battle to survive began in the room. I was avoiding the dagger that could kill me while also protecting Marina while she fought back.

Marina was also attempting to murder them, and she was skilled at killing. I saw her fearless eyes and how willingly she killed everyone.

After his pack members died, Artyom was allowed to flee. Marina's and my eyes met again, and this time the silence was not awkward but rather beneficial.

I chose to cover her before I went insane. I drew the bed sheet from the bed and wrapped it around her while she wore a red, revealing dress.

I'd never had that kind of moment with her before, where we were both alone and couldn't take our gazes away from each other. I never spoke to her, even though she was Xavier's best friend and we had no idea she was Anthony's daughter.

"Why did you return? You sold me, remember?" Marina was overcome with emotion.

"That was a ruse; we had no intention of leaving you here," I explained.

"Did Xavier say that?" She inquired, but I remained silent because I didn't want to hear Xavier's name when I was the only one who could protect her. How could she give Xavier credit for her rescue?

"Let's get out of here," I say without responding.

Marina remained motionless as she tried to control her emotions after feeling betrayed and cheated by Xavier.

"I put my life in danger for his brother, and he sold me to the monster! This is something I would never forgive Xavier," Marina was overcome with emotion.

I felt sympathy for her for the first time—she wasn't the one, but her father Anthony was our adversary. She had done nothing wrong to us, but we all despised her because she was Anthony's daughter.

I felt sorry for her when Xavier took advantage of her. Xavier has complete control over everything he does. Marina sold her to Artyom, even though she was aware of his reputation.

"You proved to yourself that you did not set a trap; we had Levine solely because of you, thank you."

She couldn't get over the fact that I had said those unexpected words to her. I assisted her in her rescue.

She kept staring at me, not because she hated me but because of the strange vibe I was getting from her. She was the enemy's daughter, but I couldn't hate her.

"Let's go," I suggested.

After leaving the room, we both started walking downstairs. The Nightwalker pack members were sharp and smart, and they were good fighters. I tried my best to protect her, but I lost hope when we were both surrounded by the Nightwalker pack.

When you realize all the doors are shut and you are surrounded by death, every moment makes you realize how dangerous and merciless your death will be, and the curiosity and anxiety hit you hard and deeply.

We were both counting down the seconds. That last breath we took was extremely intense, and I was trying hard not to lose my mind.

Suddenly, Xavier and the pack broke into the mansion. The real war had started. Both packs were known for annihilating each other with brutality. survived to stay on top, but things were getting worse. They had guns, while we didn't. We were all wise enough to avoid their bullets.

That battle was pointless because we were fighting to protect the enemy's daughter, which all of the Oak Pack members wanted to rid themselves of. They all wanted to kill her mercilessly, just as her father had killed our families without regard for how much he had harmed our souls.

Kevin was actively protecting Marina, and I had a sudden doubt. Not only was I curious, but we were all curious as to why Kevin was so eager to remove the barrier between the Demonix clan and the Oak pack.

Why was he so trusting of her? Or was he being presented with something soothing by her that we were all unaware of? What if she was lying or setting a trap for us? Why did Kevin send a message through her, and why did she put her life in danger by walking into the Oak pack's den?

Marina, according to Xavier, was using the Oak pack to destroy the Nightwalker pack. Nobody knew whether she had a reason or not. Xavier could be correct or incorrect.

But how and why did Marina become involved in that situation out of nowhere? "Why?" was the main question on my mind; something was going on between Kevin and Marina that we were all unaware of.

Kevin blocked Artyom and beat him to death; we were all fighting when they ran out of bullets. Kevin's enraged gaze was fixed on Artyom in the crowd. when the entire pack was killing each other.

Kevin had Artyom pinned down and was sitting on him, punching him in the face like a punching bag. Artyom's face was swollen, and he couldn't stop his punch because it was too quick. Kevin was about to kill when Artyom slashed a silver dagger into his throat.

The blood was unstoppable, like a waterfall. Kevin's eyes were wide open, even though his body was paralyzed. Artyom threw him away and began repeatedly slamming a dagger into him.

When my gaze shifted to Xavier, who was only standing and watching Kevin die, we all ran to kill Artyom. As Artyom stood up, I was about to punch him with all my might, but before anyone could move or do anything.

Marina smashed a small silver hairpin into the side of Artyom's neck as he turned his head. Artyom couldn't move an inch and couldn't do anything as she pushed the sliver pin further inside his neck.

She was highly skilled in knowledge like that, which was the vein and main point of killing someone. She did not use force but instead killed Artyom with a small weapon that no one had ever thought of.

Nobody realized how dangerous she was until the small silver pin—a weapon—was hidden inside her hair all the time. I noticed satisfaction on her face as she began to grin.

Paralyzed Artyom collapsed helplessly to the ground, shivering in agony. As Artyom lost his breath, the Nightwalker pack members were stunned and thought they had just lost the shelter.

"There's no need to go on!" Xavier said as he walked through the middle.

We were all breathing heavily because we knew they had already lost the battle. They were unable to continue after their leader died.

"Things can improve, and we can put an end to this right now. I am not willing to kill you; I did not come here to fight in the first place, but events took an unexpected turn. I'm giving you one last chance; do you want to fight on and die, or do you want to give up and live?" They decided to call it a day after hearing Xavier's commanding voice.

They all took four steps back, indicating that they were not interested in continuing the battle and that they preferred to live rather than die.

"I already forgive what happened here today; my pack lost Kevin in the process, and you lost your Alpha." Xavier kneeled and closed Kevin's eyes as he removed the pendant of a skull covered in his blood from his neck.

"Next time, follow that Alpha, whose motive is to protect the pack, not to keep them killed for his benefit," Xavier said as he walked away from the area.

Another Oak Pack victory; we always won because Xavier never used his pack to his advantage until now.

But a question arose in our minds: if Xavier knew Marina wanted to use the Oak pack to get rid of the Nightwalker, why did he do what she wanted? Was Xavier doing her a favor, or was it something in his erratic mind?
