Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Chapter 38

Sansa's Pov

"This is none of your concern," I said in anger.

Why was Bella taunting me, and why did she suddenly become angry with me?

"I made an offer, and you declined. Perhaps you couldn't find a way out because you thought you were very smart, which blinded you to the most obvious solution, so you wandered around and got angry to satisfy yourself and forget your failure." I teased her.

"Shut up; you know nothing about me," Angry Bella yelled.

"That's right, you should keep quiet when you don't know anything!" I replied.

"If you want to leave him, leave him; why hide?"

"Why would I tell you?" I responded

"Do you still adore him? Or you married him solely for his billionaire status." Bella crossed the line.

Her sharp words tortured me, and I was powerless to reveal why I had been brought here against my will. She was putting my patience to the test.

"Who are you to discuss my private matters?" Her words triggered me.

"Because I am concerned about you, which binds us together." Bella mocked me and revealed that she had overheard my and Vera's conversation, which I had been keeping from her.

Bella turned. I was speechless as I watched her walk away, not knowing what she expected from me. She was sharp, smart, and occasionally mean.

She didn't ask why I wanted to run away, but she knew that I wanted to escape; why did she reveal that she had also been trying to escape for years? Why did she tell me when I was the Alpha's bride?

I was entangled in my thoughts—did Bella know Xavier and I wasn't married? She was hiding secrets, which I could tell, but not revealing them.

Or was Bella testing me by knowing I was hiding my conversation with Vera from her? Or was she just trying to bother me?

Bella's words were as sharp as knives, and they worked to cut my heart into pieces while I was fighting my battle silently. The dark clouds I was hiding within me were ready to rain down on my eyes. I resisted.

I went back inside the treehouse to find Hina, who looked uneasy in my presence.

"I apologize for causing trouble, Lady Sansa," Hina said hesitantly.

"Who did it to you?" I sat on the bed beside her while looking at the scar on her wrist.

Hina didn't say anything while holding a storm within her eyes that I could see.

"Don't be afraid," I advised.

She remained silent. held the secret within.

"OK, you can tell me whenever you're ready," I said softly, eager to know, but she was not ready to speak.

I noticed she was staring at the scar on my wrist that Vera had given me the day before.

I didn't notice the blood on my leg until she put her hand on my injured knee. I was still bleeding from the impact of the stone.

While whispering her spell, she moved her long, thin fingers slowly. With the scar, the pain subsided and my wound healed.

"Why don't you heal yourself if you can heal me?"

"I don't want to," she said quietly.

"Why?"

"Let her feel the pain; whenever she takes over my body, she feels the same amount of pain that I do." Her hatred for Vera was palpable.

"Is she unable to heal you? I mean, isn't this her body as well?" I was perplexed.

"She knew how stubborn I am, so there are many things she can't control until I allow them."

I became aware of the scar around her collarbone. Her dress was foul-smelling.

I walked over to the small wardrobe and found a male t-shirt and some comfy pajamas, which I offered to her.

"You can change your dress," I suggested.

When I turned away but continued to speak to her, she took the dress and began changing.

"Why don't you return to the mountain?"

I did not receive a response from her. I was looking at her in the mirror near the table. As she removed her red, bloody gown, her back was covered in fresh scars.

I turned back at her; Hina lowered her head to avoid eye contact and didn't say anything, after changing the dress.

"Are you being mistreated there?"

Hina was not responding and appeared anxious.

"Why do you want to stay down here?" I inquired.

"All I know is that I can't go back. Please don't let them take me; you are Alpha's bride; you can do whatever you want, please." Hina gripped my hand. Hina begged desperately.

"I'll see what I can do," I said, giving her false hope as my only option.

I decided not to draw attention to myself or alert any of them to my presence; the more I remained invisible, the more chances I had to flee, I reasoned.

"Why did you come back to save me that night?" She inquired softly.

"Because you reminded me of myself. I wanted to be that person whom I needed in my desperate times."

She was staring at me, indicating that she did not frighten me anymore.

"Thank you," she said gratefully.

She didn't want to go back because something was going on on the mountain. I was curious about her background.

But what made Vera claim that one of the pack members had harmed her? Hina's response could have cleared everything up, but she remained silent.

The trauma she had been through was greater than the justice at the time. She needed some time to reveal the source of her pain. I was eager to learn the reason and the deal Vera had with me.

The sun was kissing the sky goodbye. When the music of the tree danced to the rhythm of the cold breeze, the birds were singing. The sky was clouded over. I was returning to the mansion.

Things were complicated, and I had no choice but to believe Vera when she said she could get me out of there. She was my final hope.

I had a mission, and I needed to find someone who could harm Hina. What advantage did that person gain by harming her? What could be the reason for harming a young girl?

The first question was whether that person could be female or male.

Vera assigned me a difficult task to complete.

I was observing everything and finding nothing to question. They all appeared to be pure souls rather than criminals. I believe there was an evil lurking behind the crowd.

I heard them talking that Xavier went to find his brother Levine

My attention was drawn to Edward as he walked inside the dungeon, away from their gaze. I was intrigued by the vampire who attempted to kill me.

Xavier took Marina with him on the mission to save his brother, leaving Felix behind. I wanted to go see Felix and ask him why he had attacked me. Xavier did not clarify; instead, he twisted words. He was the most perplexing man I'd ever met.

Edward was Xavier's important beta, and he had to know everything, but he wouldn't tell me. Since Xavier's departure, Edward has been keeping a closer eye on the dungeon than me.

My unsatisfied curiosity was causing me stress, and I couldn't handle it. I was going insane; deciding who to trust and who not to trust was the most difficult task for me at the time.

Bella's words had already demotivated me, but not trusting her words was providing some motivation to find a way out.
