Chapter 184: Chapter 184
Chapter 184 The General Manager's Office
After a whole morning of working, Martin James had been familiar with the environment of the company, especially the environment on the fourth floor.
In the twinkling of an eye, it was already afternoon.
They were in the corridor on the fourth floor of the company.
"Joanna, if you don't mind, may I ask what your parents do?" Martin James asked Joanna Dierser while they were mopping the floor.
"My mother was laid off a long time ago, and my father is a construction worker. My family mostly depends on my father for financial support," Joanna Dierser replied.
Then, Joanna Dierser took a turn and said in a low tone, "However, my father had an accident at the construction site a few days ago and he broke his leg. Up to this day, he was still in the hospital."
"Well, I'm sorry to hear that. I shouldn't have asked," Martin James apologized.
"It's all right," Joanna Dierser said as she squeezed out a smile.
"By the way, Martin. Do you know where I can get a loan?" Joanna Dierser asked.
"A loan? Why do you want a loan?" Martin James was stupefied.
"Well, after Dad's accident, my family was very short of money. The hospital is asking for money again, but I just started work. It is still too early to ask for my salary, and I don't know where I can get a loan." Joanna Dierser said as she bowed her head.
"You must not be lured with private loans. If you are not careful, you may be trapped," Martin James said in a serious tone.
Many of the private loans are usury. Once a simple little girl like Joanna Dierser fell into the pit, she would definitely be poorer than she was now.
"But I can't think of anything other than a loan," Joanna Dierser timidly said.
"Tell me how much you need. Maybe I can help you figure it out," Martin James said.
"It's a lot of money, I need five thousand dollars," Joanna Dierser said.
"Five thousand dollars? Then I'll lend it to you," Martin James said.
Five thousand dollars was only a small sum of money for Martin James. If that money could help a person then he would naturally lend them, especially if that person deserved it.
"Really? But I can't take such a large sum of money from you," Joanna Dierser hurriedly waved her hand.
"Joanna, I want to lend it to you. I am not giving it to you. Why won't you take it?" Martin James asked with furrowed eyebrows.
Martin James continued, "If you are planning to borrow money from others, then why don't you just borrow it from me? I don't want any interest, and there's no risk. Isn't it a much better option?"
Joanna Dierser thought about it, and she realized that Martin James seemed to have a point.
"Then, as soon as I receive my salary, I'll pay you back," Joanna Dierser said in a serious tone.
"That's good enough!" Martin James smiled and nodded.
Martin James did not need that money at all, and it would even be all right even if she would not pay him back as soon as possible.
However, if Martin James would give it to her directly, then she wouldn't want it. That's why Martin James only lent it to her. Anyway, the result would be the same, because the money would help her.
"Martin, I don't know how to thank you. You've done me a big favor!" Joanna Dierser smiled.
Joanna Dierser was very happy that she could finally settle her father's hospital bills.
"You're welcome. Besides, you helped me when the financial manager bothered me this morning," Martin James smiled.
"Hey, janitor boy!"
Just then, a woman's voice came from behind.
Martin James thought that the woman was calling him, so he turned his head and looked at her.
When he turned his head, he saw a woman in professional clothes and black stockings.
The woman had dressed up enchantingly, and her figure was also very good. She was revealing some skin which made her appear a bit sexy.
"Are you calling me?" Martin James asked as he looked at her.
"Is there anyone else here? Come here quickly!" The woman said and she looked a little impatient.
Although Martin James did not know who she was, Martin James was still a cleaner so he immediately walked up to her.
"Miss, what can I do for you?" Martin James asked as he looked at her.
The woman frowned and she said in a cold voice, "Are you new here? Don't you know who I am? I am the secretary to the general manager. Call me Maxine, do you understand?"
Martin James forced a smile, "Okay Maxine."
"I will not bother to argue with you. I need you to go to the coffee shop across the street and buy a cup of coffee. Remember not to add sugar, because this is for the general manager. If something goes wrong, you will take responsibility! Do you understand?"
The woman kept a straight face as she talked impatiently. She didn't even look at Martin James while she was ordering him around.
Martin James was just a stinky cleaner for her, so she did not even bother to look at him.
"If you are the secretary to the general manager, shouldn't you go and buy his coffee?" Martin James said helplessly.
"Janitor boy, are you questioning me? If I told you to buy that coffee, and then you should do it!" The woman spoke in a commanding tone.
"Well, then you have to give me the money, right?" Martin James said helplessly.
He would never want to be a cleaner if he had a choice because apparently anyone can use order him around.
But in order to complete the task from his grandfather, he could only put up with it.
"Use your money first, buy the coffee and send it to the general manager's office," after that the woman left without saying any more things.
Martin James shook his head and he turned away.
Martin James stared at the figure of the woman leaving and he could not help but shake his head.
Then, Martin James left the company and he went to buy coffee.
Twenty minutes later, Martin James finally bought the coffee and he went straight to the general manager's office.
His grandfather told him that the corruption of the QG branch was mainly rooted from the general manager. Since he was in his office, Martin James could get in touch with the general manager at that very moment.
Martin James was standing outside the general manager's office, "Why are the curtains drawn?"
Martin James looked very confused. It was an afternoon, but the curtains of the general manager's office were drawn and the door was closed.
At that moment, Martin James vaguely heard a sound of wheezing inside.
Martin James leaned over to the window and he looked through the small openings in the curtains.
"Fuck me!"
Martin James saw that the woman who had ordered him to buy coffee was having sex with a fat middle-aged man.
"Damn it! I'm only supposed to buy coffee, and I'm doing this kind of thing here," Martin James said in dismay.
Martin James thought that the general manager must be the worst employee that he would encounter in that company. Why was he doing that kind of thing in the office during working hours?
Martin James walked to the office door and knocked.
A minute later, the door was opened.
It was the secretary who opened the door. Her hair was a little messy and her clothes were not properly buttoned.
"Leave it to me," the secretary said as she took the coffee. After that, the secretary slammed the door shut.
Martin James shook his head and he turned away.
Martin James went back to the fourth floor. He saw that Page Wallis was standing in the hallway with a straight face.
"Come here!" Page Wallis said as soon as he saw Martin James appeared.
"What's the matter, sir?" Martin James said as he walked towards the supervisor.
"Boy, you have a lot of nerve to go missing during work hours!" Page Wallis exclaimed as he put his hands behind his back.
"Supervisor, I only went out because the secretary to the general manager had asked me to buy coffee for the general manager. I just bought the coffee and I immediately went back," Martin James explained.
"Don't make excuses with me here! You're a cleaner. Why would she ask you to buy coffee?"
"Supervisor, if you don't believe me, then you can confront the secretary of the general manager," Martin James said calmly.
"And you dared to talk back at me! How unprofessional! I will be deducting your salary by 300 dollars as your punishment. If this happens next time, then you will be resolutely dismissed, do you understand?" Page Wallis scolded loudly.
"Director, I think you are going too far. How can you be sure that I am not saying the truth? You are giving me punishments but you don't even investigate. Isn't it a bit inappropriate to do especially if you are the supervisor?" Martin James said coldly.
So far, Martin James was very disappointed with the QG branch employees and those managers.
The supervisor Page Wallis was not only so arrogant and bullying employees, but he was also so unreasonable?
Even though Martin James had been putting up with him, it still made Martin James very angry.
He went to buy coffee, and he had used his own money to pay for it. But when he came back, he was scolded for going out and his salary was deducted.
What the fuck was that?
"Oh, are you saying that I'm abusing my duty? You want to lose your work, don't you?" The supervisor said as he grabbed Martin James by the collar.
"What's the matter? It is so noisy!"
A voice had suddenly resounded in the corridor.
Then a woman had caught Martin James's eye.
The woman had long, thick, and wavy blond hair that was casually draped over her shoulders. She had exquisite facial features and deep eyes. She looked very slender, especially with her delicate thighs.
She was a definitely fascinating woman.
Martin James was a little stunned for a moment.
"Page, what's going on? There's a lot of noise here," the woman asked Page Wallis.
"Miss Margery, the newcomer didn't follow the rules and he went missing during work hours. He also dared to talk back at me when I was just teaching him a lesson," Page Wallis explained.
