Chapter 183: Chapter 183
Chapter 183 Arrogant Managers
Of course, the supervisor had no idea that the person he reprimanded was the young master of Gold Group and the grandson of Morgan Gracie.
"Martin, stop it!" Joanna Dierser, the little girl who was next to him tugged at the corner of Martin James's clothes.
Martin James thought about it for a moment and he stopped from saying more.
The truth was Martin James would usually punish an arrogant person just like that supervisor. He would definitely go up against him and gave him two big slaps in the face. He would teach him how to speak properly.
However, Martin James was supposed to be a cleaner at that time. If Martin James loses the job or reveals his identity, then the task given to him would fail.
So Martin James chose to put up with the arrogant supervisor.
"Well, now that I had assigned you the job, the two of you should be jointly responsible for cleaning the hallway on the fourth floor. You should also maintain the cleanliness of the offices. Everything should be dust-free, from floor lines to the glass windows. The specific instructions are in your work manual," the supervisor said impatiently.
After the supervisor was finished assigning them the tasks, the two officially began to work.
The main purpose of Martin James's work at that time was to obtain criminal evidence.
However, during his first day, his main task was to be familiar with the situation of the company.
On his way out of the office, a man in a cleaner's clothes happened to meet Martin James.
"You two are new here, aren't you?" The man looked at Martin James carelessly.
"Yes, we just got here today," Martin James nodded.
"My name is Archer Nelly. You can call me Archer, and I've been cleaning here for half a year. Since you're new here, you should treat me as your senior. If there's anything you don't understand, you can ask me anything."
The man said, holding out his hand.
"Well, if there's anything I don't understand, I'll ask you," Martin James smiled and shook his hand.
"By the way, you two are in charge of cleaning on the fourth floor, right?" Archer Nelly asked.
"Yes, is there a problem?" Martin James asked.
"Then you have to be careful because the fourth floor is full of managers. If you are not careful then you will be scolded. My colleague who was in charge of cleaning on the fourth floor could not bear it, so he resigned," Archer Nelly shook his head and sighed.
At that point, Page Wallis came out of the office.
"What are you chatting here? You don't have any work, do you?" Page Wallis reprimanded with a straight face.
"Brother, I'll talk to you next time," Archer Nelly quickly said before he turned and went to the area where he worked.
On the fourth floor.
Martin James and Joanna Dierser were both working. Martin James was mopping the hallway at the moment.
Suddenly there was a loud thud near them.
Just then, the bucket filled with dirty water was suddenly knocked over.
Martin James turned around and he saw that a man in a leather shoe and suit had stumbled and he accidentally kicked the bucket over.
"Damn it! How do you stinky cleaners do things? What are you doing with the bucket here? I almost got my leather shoes wet!" The man in the suit yelled at Martin James with an angry face.
Martin James smiled coldly, "Sir, you were not looking at the way as you walk. Why are you blaming me? It's ridiculous that you blamed me for slipping. Do you also blame the earth for being unattractive?"
"Don't talk to me like that, kid. You're the first one to talk to me like that in the company! Do you know who I am? I'm the financial manager of the company, and as soon as I say a word about this, then you'll be out of here!" The man in the suit said angrily.
"The financial manager has to be reasonable, right?" Martin James sneered.
"OK, I'll call your supervisor right away. I'll see if he dares to reason with me," the man in the suit said angrily.
At that time, Joanna Dierser, who was cleaning the glass next to Martin James, ran towards him.
"Sir, this is his first day at work. Please forgive him," Joanna Dierser said.
"I would have forgiven him if he apologized to me right away. He should kneel down in front of me and wipe the water off my shoes!" The financial manager said proudly.
Suddenly, there was a chill in Martin James's eyes.
Even if he was not the third generation of old rich and even if he looked like a poor boy at the moment, Martin James could not afford to deal with the manager's bullying. Martin James had thought of throwing the mop to that financial manager. Maybe, the worst thing that would happen after that was losing his cleaning job.
However, Martin James hesitated. It would be too early to leave that cleaning job. Martin James had been entrusted a task by his grandfather, and he had to keep that job no matter what.
That task could also be regarded as a little test for him. If he couldn't stand that little difficulty then how could he achieve great things in the future?
When Martin James thought of disappointing his grandfather, he clenched his teeth and said, "Sir, I apologize for getting your shoes wet. I'm really sorry."
Martin James promised to himself that he would be patient for a while. When his task was completed then he would naturally reveal his true identity. And when that time comes, he would deal with those arrogant employees in the company. He believed that kindness should be repaid with kindness, while arrogance deserved vengeance.
"It's not enough for you to apologize to me, you must shine my shoes! I want you to wipe the dirt with your clothes!" The financial manager said as he stared at Martin James defiantly.
"You ---." Martin James's face changed.
"What? Can't you do it? If you can't do it then you should get out of here!" The financial manager yelled.
"Let me do it, sir!" Joanna Dierser quickly said as he squatted down. She hurriedly wiped the water off the financial manager's shoes using the bottom part of her uniform.
"Joanna!" Martin James tried to stop her, but Joanna Dierser had quickly wiped the water off the financial manager's shoes.
"Manager, I cleaned it for him. I hope you can forgive him," Joanna Dierser said as she got up.
After taking a closer look at Joanna Dierser, the financial manager suddenly showed an evil smile. There was a smirk at the corners of his mouth and there was a devilish gleam in his eyes.
The finance manager was very angry with Martin James that he didn't notice Joanna Dierser's appearance. But at that time, he could clearly see how beautiful she was.
"You're new here, aren't you? I've never seen you in the company before. What's your name? You are such a pure-looking girl," the financial manager said. He couldn't take his eyes off Joanna Dierser.
"My name is Joanna Dierser, sir." Joanna Dierser answered timidly as she bowed her head.
"Miss Dierser, are you interested in being my secretary?" The financial manager asked with a smile.
"Well, I'm not competent to be a secretary," Joanna Dierser declined.
"It doesn't matter. I have a secretary. You are only responsible for bringing me coffee and water. I will only need you to massage my back and squeeze my shoulder, from time to time. It's much easier for you to do that, compared to cleaning the whole fourth floor. Also, the salary is much higher," the financial manager said with a smile.
"Manager, I'm really not fit to do that," Joanna Dierser said as she hurriedly waved her hand.
"Well, I hope you think about it. I'll come back to you in two days. I'm sure you'll change your mind when you suffer in this cleaning position for two more days," the financial manager said.
After that, the financial manager looked at Martin James, with disdain and said, "For Miss Dierser's sake, I won't argue with you today. If you mess with me next time, I will definitely make your life a living hell!"
After finishing his sentence, the financial manager turned and he went straight to his office.
Martin James finally understood why his colleague Archer Nelly said that he had to be careful when he worked at the fourth floor. Archer Nelly was right, the managers there were unexpectedly arrogant.
After the financial manager left, Martin James turned to Joanna Dierser and said, "Joanna, thank you for helping me. You are very kind to me," Martin James said as he smiled at Joanna Dierser.
It was the first day that he met Joanna Dierser, yet when he was in trouble with the manager, the woman immediately helped him.
"It's all right. We are colleagues, so we should help each other," Joanna Dierser replied as she smiled back at Martin James.
After a pause, Joanna Dierser said seriously, "Martin, you mustn't argue with the managers and supervisors in the future. They are all big shots here while we are small people who can't afford to provoke them."
"I understand," Martin James nodded.
Martin James decided that from that time, he should just keep a low profile. Besides, he was there to collect evidence. He should just focus on the main reason why he was there.
Martin James secretly swore to himself that no matter what happened, he had to do the task well. He couldn't afford to screw up the task assigned by his grandfather.
"By the way, Joanna, when the financial manager had asked you to be his secretary, I could sense at a glance that he was planning to do something awful. You must not be fooled by him, or you will definitely lose yourself," Martin James said.
It was obvious that the financial manager asked Joanna Dierser to be his secretary because he thought Joanna Dierser was pure and beautiful. He might want to use her for his own advantage.
A simple girl like Joanna Dierser was innocent. Martin James did not want her to be ruined by that arrogant financial manager.
Joanna Dierser blushed and nodded. It was obvious that Joanna Dierser only realized at that time that she was clueless to what the manager was asking before.
Martin James looked at her and he murmured, "Don't worry, scum like him will be punished one day."
At first glance, it was obvious to Martin James that the financial manager was spoiled to his guts.
When Martin James's task ended, he would reveal his true and he would make sure that the manager would be removed from the Gold group.
