Chapter 185: Chapter 185
Chapter 185 The Good Executive
As soon as Martin James heard that she was the director, he immediately came forward and said, "Director, I didn't go missing just to play. I just went to buy coffee for the general manager."
"Really?" Delia Margery said as she looked at Martin James.
"Miss Margery, don't listen to this kid's nonsense. I think he's just making up a story!" Page Wallis said.
"Director, if you want to find out whether what I said was true or false, you can ask the secretary of the general manager. You can also look at footage of the camera and watch when I exited the company," Martin James said.
"Okay, I'll call the surveillance officer," Delia Margery said as she took out her cell phone.
"Miss Margery, he's just a new cleaner, and he shouldn't bother you with his non-sense," Page Wallis said with a dry smile.
Delia Margery frowned, "Page, this might be a small thing for you. But I know that for the other employees, it's a big deal for them. Do you understand what I mean?"
"Yes, I got it!" Page Wallis could only smile and nod.
When Martin James heard Delia Margery's words, he looked a little surprised.
It seemed that now all the executives on QG branch were assholes. There were still a few of them who could tell what's right from wrong.
Delia Margery soon called the surveillance officer and she asked where Martin James had gone earlier.
After she hung up the phone, she turned to Page Wallis and said, "Page, the surveillance officer told me that the cleaner had bought coffee and sent it to the general manager's office. He was saying the truth. In that way, you have indeed wronged him."
Page Wallis was suddenly stunned and his facial expression changed.
"Page, you had judged the staff without even investigating. This is a mistake. You should learn more from now on. Besides, you should not embarrass other people," Delia Margery said.
"Yes, Miss Margery," Page Wallis smiled and nodded.
Delia Margery looked at Martin James, and said faintly, "The matter had been investigated. It's all right. You can go back to work."
Martin James thanked her with a smile, "Thank you, Miss Margery."
Delia Margery was so beautiful and in Martin James's mind, he wanted to make a good impression on her.
Page Wallis's face darkened instantly after Delia Margery left.
"Boy, you are lucky that Miss Margery was here to help you," Page Wallis stared at Martin James coldly.
Then Page Wallis turned around and said in a cold voice, "But you had made me unhappy. I hope you don't go against me next time, or you'll understand the consequences of offending me!"
After that, Page Wallis had left angrily.
There was a chill in Martin James's eyes as Page Wallis left.
"Don't worry, it won't be long before I let you know the consequences of offending me," Martin James murmured.
"Hello!"
Just then, someone spoke from the back of Martin James.
Martin James turned around and he found that it was the senior cleaner that he met that morning.
It was Archer Nelly, the veteran cleaner.
"Come on, I'll take you to the lookout!" Archer Nelly said.
Martin James didn't understand what Archer Nelly meant, but he still went with him.
The two came to the window of a utility room on the fourth floor.
"Brother, do you have a cigarette?" Archer Nelly asked as he rubbed his fingers.
"Yes," Martin James pulled out a bag of cigarettes from his pocket.
That was the cigarette that Martin James had bought that morning.
Martin James took out one cigarette and he handed it to Archer Nelly.
"Oh, this is even a good-quality cigarette. Looks like you're good at dealing with people!" Archer Nelly smiled as he took the cigarette.
"Now that you have given me a cigarette, let me explain it to you why Page Wallis was a greedy master. I will also tell you why and new employees were deliberately troubled by him."
After taking a puff of his cigarette, Archer Nelly continued, "If you want to avoid getting into trouble with him, the solution is actually very simple. If you send him some good cigarettes and alcohol, you can solve the problem."
"Oh? Do I need to do such a thing?" Martin James frowned.
How could that little Page Wallis be so bossy?
As the young master of Gold Group, Martin James was deeply angry.
Even if that's the case, it would be impossible to ask Martin James to send him alcohol and tobacco.
"By the way, who was that Miss Margery?" Martin James couldn't help but ask.
"Can I have another cigarette?" Archer Nelly said as he rubbed his fingers.
"Well, it's all yours," Martin James said as he handed the whole pack of cigarettes directly to Archer Nelly.
"You're giving it all to me? Well, then thank you very much!" Archer Nelly happily accepted the whole pack of cigarettes.
"Miss Margery's whole name is Delia Margery. She was the director of our company. She is not only great beauty, but she was also a smart woman!" Archer Nelly said.
Then, Archer Nelly looked at Martin James, with a smile and said, "Why? You are interested in Miss Margery, aren't you? She's a white swan, she's not someone who will give toads like us a chance. You'd better keep that admiration to yourself. Besides, she has a boyfriend."
"I am not thinking about it. I just think she's nice," Martin James explained.
By that time Archer Nelly had finished smoking.
"Okay for the sake of this bag of cigarettes that you gave me, you can ask me if you have any questions in the future. Now I have to go back to work," Archer Nelly said before he turned and walked out.
After that, Martin James remembered that he would lend Joanna Dierser 5000 dollars.
After their work in the afternoon, Martin James had asked Joanna Dierser to give him her address. Then he went to the bank to withdraw 5000 dollars before he went to Joanna Dierser's house.
Joanna Dierser's family lived in an old neighborhood.
Martin James knocked on the door of Joanna Dierser's house.
"Coming!" The sound of Joanna Dierser came from the house. As soon as she reached the door, she immediately opened it.
"Martin, there you are!" Joanna Dierser smiled at Martin James.
Martin James slips the money into Joanna Dierser's finger and said, "Here are the five thousand dollars that I promise to lend you."
"Martin, you even bothered to send it over. I don't know how to thank you," Joanna Dierser nodded and smiled.
"It's all right. Now that I had delivered you the money, I'll go ahead first," Martin James said and he was ready to leave.
"Wait a minute!" Joanna Dierser grabbed Martin James's arms.
"You might now have eaten yet. It just so happens that I have prepared some meals. Why don't you come in and let's eat together," Joanna Dierser said with a smile.
"All right," Martin James answered.
When he entered the door, Martin James found out that except for Joanna Dierser, there were also middle-aged women, and a young man on the table. The middle-aged woman seemed to be Joanna Dierser's mother.
"Martin, this is my mother and this is my brother," Joanna Dierser introduced her family to Martin James one by one.
"Hello!" Martin James said politely.
Joanna Dierser's brother came forward to shake hands with Martin James, "Your name is Martin, right? My name is Allen Dierser and I also work in the QG branch of Gold Group."
"Oh? You work in the QG branch too? What are you doing there?" Martin James asked in surprise.
"I'm a security guard!" Allen Dierser said.
After a pause, Allen Dierser continued, "By the way, Martin, how about we have a chat before we eat dinner?"
"Allen, what are you going to say to him?" Joanna Dierser glared at Allen Dierser.
"It's all right, Joanna," Martin James smiled and he waved his hands.
Martin James followed Allen Dierser to his room.
When they entered the room, Allen Dierser patted Martin James on the shoulder.
"Martin, first of all, I want to thank you for lending money to our family. After my sister and I received our wages, we will pay you back as soon as possible."
Then, Allen Dierser took a turn, "But you'd better not to think about Joanna."
"What do you mean?" Martin James was stupefied.
"Didn't you get it? You're just a janitor, and you certainly don't have much money in your pocket. You've only known Joanna for a day, yet you are willing to lend her so much money. Didn't it mean that you're trying to win Joanna's heart?" Allen Dierser said.
"That's not the reason why I lend her that money. You're thinking too much," Martin James showed a wry smile.
Martin James's reason for lending Joanna Dierser the money was very simple. Martin James used to be a poor child and he knew how it felt to be short of money.
Whenever he saw a poor person just like Joanna Dierser who was caught in trouble because of money, Martin James instinctively wanted to help them.
But then Joanna Dierser's brother had judged him for helping his sister. What was wrong with him?
Martin James felt helpless.
"Whether you are saying the truth or not, I don't want you to think about Joanna, okay? With that kind of appearance, she should find a supervisor or manager. Cleaners are not good enough for Joanna," Allen Dierser said.
What Allen Dierser said clearly meant that he thought that Martin James did not deserve his sister Joanna Dierser.
"Okay, I see what you meant," Martin James smiled without explaining much.
"It's good to know that you understand. Come on, let's eat!" When Allen Dierser had finished his words, he went out and Martin James followed him.
They sat down in front of the dining table.
"What did Allen said to you, Martin?" Joanna Dierser asked Martin James in a low voice.
It is obvious that Allen Dierser was glaring at Martin James, which was hinting at Martin James to not talk.
"Well, nothing. We just had a casual conversation," Martin James smiled.
