Chapter 64: Chapter 64

Audrey couldn't sleep as she dreamt of her mother and father and how Viola treated her. She kept tossing in bed hearing someone saying' she's young, beautiful, and curvy. She'll be good for business but couldn't see his or her face. After years of trying to remember this phrase, it came as a dream. Whose voice was it? She knows her aunt's voice. She woke up panting and drank a cup of water to calm her nerves.

She opened her pc and saw that it has been read but he didn't reply to her. She sneered and sent him more messages. She wanted to call him but stopped. He might be asleep already. Perhaps he doesn't miss her as she misses him. Before she knows it, it was morning already.

It was five in the morning so she woke them up and they headed to the cemetery together where she said goodbye to her parents to focus on ivy. She wanted to know the reason behind her phrase' till date' perhaps someday when she wasn't with illegal weapons though it was registered. She took a photo and left for the seaport. Now that she thinks about it. She was almost a month away from home and work. It was worth the fuss. Anything for her parents. Though she was yet to find out the reason behind her mother's transfer.

Their sail continued though they were attacked while in it, it was easier to toss their body in the Atlantic ocean. All she has to do is find a way to return Lucas's ammunition before he notices it. She prayed she'll arrive in Ukraine by day or morning.

Two weeks was finally completed as they disembark from the ship.

" Sorry girls, it's a good thing you're entrepreneurs," said Audrey sulking she wasn't.

" We all knows the hotel can't fire you," they said in unison hugging her

" Call us if anything happens," said Ava seriously

" I will. Thanks. You've shown me love and care. I can never forget that" she said hugging them tightly

" We love you, Audrey. When the whole world turns against you we won't. You will still have us " said Ava smiling

" This isn't the end of the world. Viola dies and we're free. Nothing to it. You don't have to tell Lucas the truth. We don't owe anyone an explanation. Do you hear me? Said Lola leading her to the car.

She was home after a long time though it was untidy because of the circumstances of her encounter. She cleaned it up and cooked. She ate and smoked too.

The luggage was on the table as she sneered looking at it, another problem. she can as well keep it but no he'll think she's hiding something from him. She picked her car keys and the luggage and drove to Lucas's house. He wasn't around. So she sneaked to the study to drop them excluding the ammo which she exhausted. She was kind enough to return the weapons he should be grateful for.

Jenny noticed Lucas barely go home as he spends most of his time in the office or his mini apartment where he relaxes. She has been trying to make him look her way but failed woefully as he didn't bat an eyelid at her. So she tried her luck today wearing hip panties looking sexy in them.

" Good morning Lucas, I have something to discuss with you," she said standing in front of him making sure to stand in front of his view

" Say it. I'm listening" he said nonchalantly still writing with his head lowered

" It's about the new secretary Vanessa" she paused

" What about her? Is she too lazy? Fire her" he said sternly

" Not really. She wears exposed clothes like this one" she said as he raised his head to see what she was talking about

" Like this", she said using her hands to adjust her top and skirt which was almost covering nothing.

Lucas was staring at her face with disgust. He knows what she's doing. What's new about boobs and thighs? Is she normal he wondered?

"This kind of issue should be handled by the secretary manager, not me. The next time you try a thing like that again, I'll cut those hands off" he threatened. Jenny smiled now he noticed her efforts

" I'm simply showing you what's yours. Luke, do you remember the first day you told me you like me? You were asking me out before that incident. I am supposed to be with you, not that golddigger Audrey. We belong together. " She stated coquettishly and frowned that he was still writing

" I've had a crush on you since we were in grade school. I kept myself for you all these years for you to acknowledge me. for you to return home. Lucas, my love for you is genuine and pure. Lucas, you're the only man that I want. I know Audrey is just a distraction because of her curves and beauty. You'll get tired of her soon, right? Please tell me to wait for you till you sort things out with her she lamented in tears hoping for some sign from him

" You're pathetic Jenny. Begging for love? Get out of my sight stinky bitch" he cursed furiously

" Or did you end things with her? Omg luke you did? I knew she was just a fling" she said excitedly as his phone rang

She watched his face brighten then turn sullen again. He dropped the phone and continued to write.

" I'll be waiting for you, Luke. I can't wait to be your woman" she exclaimed in ecstasy leaving happily.

Lucas stopped writing and sit properly to think. Whether to ignore her or punish her. He couldn't bear to punish her and he couldn't ignore her either. He continued what he has been doing for days since she left. Keeping himself busy. He has achieved so much for the past few days of being punctual and lucrative.

Audrey couldn't wait for him to come home, she decided to pay him a visit in his office. She got to the multi-million building and took an elevator to his office but was stopped by his guards. She opened her phone and showed them a picture of her and Luke holding hands. They curtsied and opened the door for her after all no woman dares to make such a claim. It will be wrong to offend the mischievous boss girlfriend.

She entered and saw him immersed in his work. His eyes were on the book as if he can't see it. He shifted the glasses and continued reading them. She looked at his ever serious face like that of a little boy and chuckle which didn't pass him by but he needed to finish his reading so he ignored her. His secretary informed him already.

" You look younger than your age my love" she muttered but he ignored her still.

She overlooked it and sat in his front chair staring at him working. Then whispered.

" I missed you. Did you miss me? He stopped reading and looked up. Stared at her noticing her weight loss.

" They didn't feed you well? You look skinny" he remarked as she stood, walked to him, and sat down on his desk

" I thought you wanted me to lose some weight. I have" she said coquettishly closer to his ear

" I'm working Audrey. If you're not here to tell me where you have been for the past one month then get out" he snapped

" I went to pay homage to my late parents. It's far away from here. I lost my wallet and ATM card. So I had to work to earn money. I don't have my phone. I lost everything and I sent you messages asking for your help but you didn't reply to me. I assumed you haven't checked it so I gathered the money myself" she lied woefully

" You're lying to me Audrey" he snapped hitting the marble desk hard that she feared his fingers might break

" You know my phone number, Audrey. You could have called. You had your PC with you, you could have called me. When will you start being honest with me? I've tried my best to be good to you but you don't seem to trust me, Audrey. It's not fair " he exclaimed making her guilty. She wished she could tell him everything and damn the consequences.

" I swear it's the truth. I ran out of money. I even lost weight due to it. My love I won't lie to you" she said holding his hands which he yanked off

" I'm not a fool Audrey. I know you're hiding something from me. Why can't you share your problems with me? I share mine with you. If this relationship is going to work you've to come clean. I need to know if I'm dating a serial killer or a secret agent" he said as she realizes the gravity of her lies.

" Luke, there's nothing secretive about me. I went to see my parents. I'm not lying to you. I messaged you on my way there and on my way back. Believe me" she coaxed holding his hands again

" shut your mouth. I'm not a child. You're taking my silence for granted. No more of that. Come to me when you want to come clean. That's the door" he said pointing at it

Audrey didn't know how to convince him anymore as she was feeling guilty for leading him on. Her secret isn't being a serial killer or a secret agent. It's something dirty and embarrassing. Something she's trying to bury.

" Luke, don't do this, please. I don't know what to say anymore. I'm telling the truth. I'm sorry for not informing you before leaving. I didn't want it to seem like I'm leeching off you. I just wanted to do things my way. " She explained

" Don't you do things your way? Did I have you locked up? Even if I did it's because of your dishonesty." He yelled

" It won't happen again I promise. I have learned my lesson. Please look at me" she urged but he didn't.

" I don't want distractions. You can leave. I'm busy. Don't come to my office claiming to be my woman when you don't see yourself as one. Get out" he yelled urging her to leave.

Audrey didn't blame him. She stood up from the table and left blaming her dirty past for the insults.

Lucas stared at her retreating back and clenched his fist hitting it on the desk after she has closed the door though she heard it. He opened his PC and read it. He didn't know what to believe.his instincts or her words. He couldn't believe he could overlook so much. She's indeed hiding something and he's going to find it out.
