Chapter 30: Chapter 30

Audrey didn't think Lucas will help her and it involves her past. He thinks the worst of her already. She didn't want to feel everything. His insult and utmost disrespect aren't something she can contend with.

" Just do your job and leave the arrogant boss out of it. " She said furiously

" Think about it. How is your wound? Sorry, I came late. Your friend was very worried about you. " He said then she recalled him calling her. She woke up due to his incessant calling.

" Is he still there?

" No. The gunshots were a serious one. I can't imagine you escaped with just a scratch. "

" You must have done a background check on me detective. I'm clean. I know how to take care of myself but certainly not from a drug lord. So please get that federal protection" she urged.

" Is it that deep? You can be admitted if it is. I'll have my boys guard you" he offered

" No thanks" she blatantly refused. If he's a drug Lord then she can't escape him.

" C'mon let's go. " He said leading her out. He knew she wasn't ready to spill yet but she would when she notice how dangerous is ks for her.

He dropped her at the hotel and drove off. She entered and saw Lola and Ava waiting for her.

She hugged them tightly. Glad they're back.

" I missed you girls"

" We missed you too. Now tell me why aren't you living in your house? Asked Lola

"We had a VVIP and there's more going on. We'll have to talk later. I'm very tired " she stated leading them to her suite.

She slept for a long time. Lola and Ava were already gone. She sighed. Picked her bag and took some pills. Her doorbell rang and she checked it through the CCTV footage and saw a worried David.

She didn't want him to see her weak and drowsy so she ignored him and slept off again.

Lucas was worried someone was after her life. She was driving like someone was pursuing her. He wanted to know more. He asked Bobb to check why she went to the hospital and with influence, he was told she had a gunshot wound at her back. He panicked.

He picked his car keys to leave but Genevieve intervened

" General, I'll look after her. You have work to do. Leave the manager to me. You're friends, right? Or is she a family friend?

" Don't ask. Check on her. " He ordered restlessly

" She's probably fine. She seemed experienced in the field. I'll take care of her" she assured him.

He agreed and she went to the hotel to see her but was denied audience by her. she had to wait till she leaves the room but she didn't. Effortlessly she told Lucas about it and how drove down to the hotel himself.

He knocked but she didn't open the door then he banged the door hard disturbing her sleep. She checked the CCTV footage and saw it was him. She wondered what he wants and acted normal. She opened the door yawning

" Mr. Hamilton, why are you here? Miss Genevieve, do you have any issues? She asked in oblivion

" May I? You walked out on me earlier. I want to talk" he started pushing her out of the door moth. She lost balance base on her injured back hitting it on the wall. She winced in pain praying he didn't open her wound.

" I'm not in the mood to talk to you. We've said what needed to be said. So leave" she requested sitting on the sofa to prevent falling despite her weakness she acted strong. Lucas knew she was in pain but was upset she was concealing it. It's normal to seek help.

" what's wrong Audrey? You don't look well" he stated sitting close to her

" I'm fine. You can go. You're not welcome here" she said standing up from the sofa to another chair

Her words vexed him. He stood up glared at her and left banging the door loudly. She quickly bolts the door and checked her wound. It wasn't open thank God.

Genevieve noticed her nervousness while she bolts the door.

" Should I talk to her?

" She can go to hell for all I care " he yelled trailing off.

He was trying to be caring and she shot him off. Who does she think she is. Almighty him came specifically for her and she rudely told him to get out. This is the last time he's doing such a thing for anyone. She's just a punny woman for christ's sake He concluded.
