Despite Patty's Love and devotion to her. She needed rest. The Hamiltons too lounged in a hotel as it was dark. Luke remained in her room sitting by her side.

" Luke, you look tired. We'll take care of her. While don't you sit this one out" said Will worriedly

" I'm fine. I'll change my clothes instead" he said huskily standing up. His four friends were devastated to see him like that.

" Lola, you girls need a place to stay. C'mon. Luke will stay with her " said Roman reaching for Lola. She nodded and followed him. Ava went too reluctantly.

Victor had retired for the day looking after her mother with Vanessa.

He returned from the bathroom to see Will and Peter waiting for him.

" Better," they said in unison though his hair was wet.

" It's not your fault. She'll wake up okay? They tried to be positive as his eyes were fixed on her face.

" I hope so" he whispered hoarsely.

They stayed for some time and left as the hospital rules were against a crowded room. Luke held her hand.

He didn't want to apologize to a sleeping person anymore. He wanted to say it to her. He kissed her forehead and hands resting his head on the bed.

The sound of the beeping machine was audible as at three at night. She opened her eyes looking around. She felt a weight on her hand and turned her head to see Lucas holding onto it. Drop tear dropped from her eyes.

Luke wasn't sleeping, he hasn't slept for almost three days. His instincts kept telling him to look up which he did. He looked at her teary eyes that were focused on him.

" Audrey! You're awake. Thank God" he kissed her hands wiping her tears. She tried to say something but he couldn't hear her because of the breathing mask.

" Hold on. I'll get the doctors" he said about to leave when they entered: the neurologist, cardiologist, and internal medicine team.

They checked her vitals and were satisfied removing the oxygen mask. Luke stood by watching them examine her. They asked her several questions to check her brain and were satisfied too then she was told to lift her legs which she couldn't. She panicked as Lucas ran to her side.

" What's wrong? Hey look at me" he tried calming her down as the vitals machines were beeping. Her blood pressure was rising. The nurses reported it to them

" Doc, she's having a panic disorder. She might have a cardiac arrest" she announced as they began to resuscitate her, they tried to reverse the dropping blood pressure to stabilize her heartbeat.

Luke was in tears seeing her shaking and jerking continuously. He ran his hands through his hair pushing the doctor out of the way as she wasn't responding to them

" Audrey, please listen. don't leave me. Whatever it is we'll sort it out. I swear it. I'll never abandon you or let you go through it alone. I'm here for you. I love you, Audrey, remember you saying you'll get old with me. I want to but I can't without you. Don't leave me. You've no idea how much I missed you for the past months. I don't want you to be a fading memory. I want to grow old with you. " He sniffles as the doctor stabilized her wondering how he did it.

Her vitals returned to normal. The doctors sighed in relief shaking each other.

" The worst is over Mr. Hamilton, regarding her legs. She'll have to undergo physiotherapy and I assure you. She'll recover."

" Does love still exist? If yes I just witnessed a miracle" said the neurologist proudly

" Thank you all for your help. Forgive my rudeness. She means everything to me. Thank you. I promise to come back with a proper appreciation" he stated as they smiled

" Thank you, sir. We'll commence her treatment for the legs right away" said the dean of the hospital.

They put up different fluids for her then left. Luke sat down looking at her sleeping face. He touched her cheeks as she opened her eyes.

" Am I a cripple now? She asked barely audible.

" Of course not. With time you'll recover " he coaxed caressing her hair

" Luke, I can't feel my legs. Dying is better than this. Why didn't I die instead? Why did you save me? What use am I to anyone if I can't walk? She exclaimed harshly as Luke held onto her hands

" We need you here Audrey. I need you. I know I sound like a jerk. But I love you so much, Audrey. I can't bear to lose you too after losing my brother. I couldn't let you die on me. " He started wiping her tears

" You said I'm a whore Luke. You Said I didn't deserve you. Why am I here a cripple? Goddamn, you shouldn't have saved me. Leave me alone. Get out" she demanded almost yelling

" I'm not leaving you. I'll not leave you again. " He stated as she turned her head from him.

" What use am I to you like this? What use am I to anyone? My life is messed up. " She wept

" Stop crying or it'll trigger something.. you had a major operation. Do it for me and your mom " he coaxed stroking her hair

" Hmmm" she hummed closing her eyes silently

" We'll sort it out together. You'll walk again and I'll be there for you in every way. Don't you want to grow old together with me anymore? I want to grow old with you. I miss you Audrey" he coaxed kissing her forehead

" Not like this Luke. I don't want to be a helpless dependant cripple" she snapped moving her hands abruptly

" You can move your hands. You'll move your legs too. Give it some time" he stated as she ignored him pretending to be sleeping. He smiled looking at her.

Audrey didn't want to acknowledge her condition. How could she live without walking maybe luke is saying all this because he pities her. How did he find her anyway? It's not fair. She can't be a dependant. She hated it. She was brought out of her thought with a kiss on her lips which sent tingles to her spine. She held the urge to kiss him back as his kiss lingered for some time. He moved to kiss her nose then her eyes and cheeks.

" I love you so much, Audrey. I'll accept you for whosoever you are. Forgive my hypocrisy before. I was confused and adamant. I was scared too. Scared Adrian might use it against my family. I didn't stop loving you Audrey, I didn't see you as a slut. I wasn't expecting such a secret. If I knew it was something like that, I wouldn't have asked. Because you meant so much to me. Don't be mad at me. I'll do anything to make it up to you" he coerced guessing she wasn't sleeping. She trembled when he kissed her.

Audrey didn't say anything. Is he going to continue their relationship in her condition? Maybe they have different mindsets.

Lucas called Bobby to inform everyone that she was awake. Within the next seconds, the room was crowded. Patty was happy to hear it.

She was the first to get there. She entered the room to see Audrey's eyes closed. Sitting by her side, she touched her cheeks which woke her up. The rest people entered hastily. Ava and Lola sat by her too.

" This is a miracle," they said in unison. Audrey opened her eyes to see her mother tearing down. She tried sitting up, Luke assisted her as she hugged her mother.

" Mom!! I've missed you" she sniffled holding her tightly

" I'm so sorry Audrey. I'm sorry. I love you. I was in grief. Please forgive me" she apologized. Audrey broke the hug wiping her tears

" Mom, I'm not mad at you. I understand. Now that I'm a woman, I understand. I hold no grudges against you " She said smiling as she looked up to see everyone in the room.

" Lola, Ava, Victor, oh God granny. Mrs. Fiona, Sir Hugh. Mrs. Stella. Guys. Vanessa. Bobby " she mentioned looking at Luke.

" I feel honored by your presence. Did I die? She asked Luke as they chuckled

" Yep. You got everyone worried. Luke especially. He hasn't eaten for days now" said Nate grinning

" We're so happy to see you, my dear," said granny throwing her a kiss

" Did I die, mom? She asked as Patty shook her head

" No my dear. This is a miracle"

" Luke, you said there's a complication. What's it? Asked Hugh as luke sighed. Audrey looked at him and then at her legs

" I can't move my legs. I can feel it but I can't move it. " She muttered anger visible in her voice as if saying what's the need for waking up

" There is a treatment for it. I have a Bone specialist. You don't have to worry my dear" said Hugh assuring her

" Yeah. Thanks for being there for me, everyone. I appreciate it. Thank you. " She stated. It was obvious she wasn't happy.

" We'll always be there for you. I know with physiotherapy you'll be fine" said Lola not liking her tone

" Like this? Well, if that's what you all want I'll do it. No harm in trying right? She said staring at luke who knew she was angry because he saved her.

Her callous tone turns the room into decorum as they could imagine how disappointed she was at herself.

" Have you eaten? What will you like to eat? Asked Fiona

" Anything is fine Mom, I don't crave for anything," she said trying to scoot for her mom to sit properly but couldn't. Luke went to help her but she yanked his hands off.

Everyone gazed at each other guessing she's mad at him. Or maybe she's pissed at her condition. Hugh tapped Luke.

" I'm just a lame person now. " She chuckled

" I guess I'll get used to it" she glared at Luke as he sighed.

They didn't know what to say or how to console her anymore. They just watched her rant and rant and rant glaring at Luke most of the time if only looks could kill.
