Chapter 55: Chapter 55
Jonea got very emotional. She desperately wanted to know what had happened to Miller that day. Still, she was also afraid to hear that fact directly from Hunter's mouth.
"Yes, I want to know what happened to Miller that day," Jonea said, closing her eyes and tilting her head back.
The girl tried to hold back her tears from spilling. While Hunter was still lying with his head on Jonea's thigh. Hunter's position turned his back to Jonea. He didn't know if the girl was holding back tears.
"Jonea, is this your purpose for appearing in our lives?"
Jonea was taken aback by Hunter's sudden and unexpected question.
"Do you think that we were the ones who harmed Miller?" Hunter's voice was slightly hoarse.
Jonea was utterly silenced by Hunter's question. She wanted so badly to say yes, but Jonea realized she had no proof. She couldn't reveal the evidence she collected to Hunter, or his cover would be blown.
Jonea didn't know what answer to Hunter's question anymore. Meanwhile, Hunter has not answered his curiosity about what happened to Miller that day.
"Is that why you decided to take the scholarship and follow your brother to transfer to our school?"
Jonea was still silent. While Hunter closed his eyes while clenching his fists tightly without Jonea's knowledge. The young man tried to hold back the feelings raging in his chest.
Hunter had no idea he would end up in a theme park in such a state–having a heart-to-heart talk with a strange girl he had never hated.
'My goal in approaching Jonea and making her comfortable was to discover the reasons and motives for this girl coming into our lives. But now I'm stuck here with her. And for some reason, my heart flutters so much every time I meet and think about it. I've never felt anything like this before. I even got carried away. I had forgotten that she and I were on different levels. What exactly has happened to me?'
Hunter clenched his fists tightly to tell himself not to go too far.
"What would you do if that was my true intention?" said Jonea firmly.
Jonea is no longer able to hide her feelings and goals. She's too emotional. She can no longer trust anyone, including her own emotions now.
Jonea has always hated the members of B4, who she always suspected of being the perpetrators of Miller's bullying. But now, even Jonea hopes to get closer and closer to Aland Hamilton.
After hearing that answer, Hunter turned to look at Jonea. This time, he pulled the girl's nape closer to his face. Hunter landed a short, sweet kiss on Jonea's lips.
"Stop teasing me!" Jonea rebelled.
"I knew it," whispered Hunter.
"What do you expect?" Jonea pulled her head back and rubbed her lips with the back of her hand.
Hunter lay back down on Jonea's lap. His body was feverish and shivering. But, secretly, he smiled.
'I knew it was really thrilling.'
Hunter said to Jonea seriously, though she still turned her back on him. "I will not answer your curiosity. But, you have to look and find out the answer yourself. Because no matter what answer I give you, you will never believe it."
"Yeah, Hunter!" Jonea exclaimed in a slightly raised tone. "You want to play puzzles with me? Just tell me whatever you know. I'll try to believe it."
Hunter muttered and muttered incoherently after a long silence. "You want to copy the answers? The exam supervisor will find out later."
"What? Invigilator?" Jonea was surprised by what Hunter said, and then she checked the young man and found that he was fast asleep.
"You have a fever to the point of delirium? Aish! Damn it! So, you were just talking nonsense?"
They were stuck at the amusement park gate guard post until morning. Jonea and Hunter fell asleep until they didn't realize that the amusement park attendant had arrived.
When the officer found the gate unlocked and rushed to open the post door, he shouted very loudly.
"Hey, who are you guys? You want to steal?"
Jonea and Hunter, who were still very sleepy, suddenly jumped up. Hunter even hit under the table because he was so shocked.
"Say!" the officer pointed, brandishing his baton. "What are you doing here? You guys wanna steal, huh? Shut up there. I will report you to the police!"
Jonea had to raise her hands in fright. Hunter tried to stand up while rubbing his lumpy head.
When the amusement park officials called the police, Hunter immediately grabbed Jonea's hand and ran out of the amusement park as fast as he could.
"Hey, you guys!" shouted the park guard. "Do not run away! I will arrest you!"
Hunter laughed and was so happy he took Jonea's hand. They ran along the busy street. They tried to escape from the pursuit of the park rangers.
When they were sure they were free from the chase, Jonea suddenly stopped and didn't want to run anymore. She let go of Hunter's grip.
"Why? Are you exhausted?" Hunter's face looks cheerful and enthusiastic even though they are in trouble.
Jonea was out of breath. "You can run this fast. I think your fever is cured, huh?" quipped the girl. "I just don't want to run anymore. It's already morning, and I have to go back home. My parents must have come back from the countryside."
Jonea turned to head for the nearest bus stop, but Hunter held her back. "Let me take it to your house."
"No need!" Jonea replied curtly. "I can go home alone."
Hunter was still stubborn and held Jonea down.
"Everywhere, after a date, the guy will take his girl home safely."
Jonea almost exploded hearing that. She opened her mouth wide but couldn't get any words out.
"What did you say? Dating? Do you consider this a date?"
"Yes, of course," Hunter answered thoughtfully. "Do you know how many girls want to date a B4? Even to this day, I have always refused their requests. You are the first." Hunter raised his eyebrows while pursing his lips. "You should be proud of that, you know?"
Jonea is completely fed up. "It's up to you what to say. I have to go home right now!" Jonea left Hunter on the side of the road alone. "Don't follow me!" threatens Jonea.
Hunter secretly smiled, watching the girl back away.
Punch!
From the side, a raw punch landed on Hunter's face. He got connected and literally fell to the pavement.
Hunter was very angry and saw who was the culprit. Hunter fell silent. "Aland? Why did you hit my face?"
Aland knelt down and grabbed Hunter's collar. He was about to swing his fist again but failed when he saw Hunter's lips parted, and his eyes looked so confused.
"What have you done to Jonea? Don't try to tease her," Aland hissed.
Hunter confused. "What do you mean, Aland? I'm serious about what I do. I want her to be my mate!" Hunter looked at Aland just as seriously.
Aland's fist was already entirely in the air, but he dropped it, and it only hit empty air.
"Okay, if that's what you want," Aland exclaimed. "From now on, we will do it fairly. I won't let you hurt Jonea, even if it's just a fingernail."
Aland got up and left Hunter with a sullen face.
Hunter massaged his throbbing jaw. And his wound has recovered, and his cracked lips closed again. Hunter's face was back to how it used to be–smooth without gaps.
He saw Aland leave, and Hunter was getting annoyed with himself.
"What have I done? It's not like I planned. Why did Aland get involved?"
When Jonea arrived at her compound, she heard a commotion from the rooftop house across the street. When Jonea turned her head, she saw a group of men dressed in all black dragging Edison with their faces battered.
'Warriors?' thought Jonea. The girl did not believe healthily. Only her instincts took over.
"Hey! What did you guys do to my friend?"
"Who are you, Miss? Do you know this young man?" said one of the men, who was burly and bald. "Stop meddling in our affairs and get out of the way!" the man threatened.
They dragged a battered Ed to the car. Ed could barely keep his eyes open. He smiled at Jonea when he heard the sound and smelled the girl's appearance.
"I'm fine, Jonea. Pretend you've never seen this."
The men dressed all in black started dragging Ed and putting him in a black SUV.
Jonea attracted one of Ed's charming men. The man was irritated because he was disturbed by Jonea's appearance. He shook off Jonea's hand. However, Jonea punched the man in the face, causing a broken nose bone cracking sound.
"What are you going to do to my friend? Let him go!" she shouted.
"Little slut," the man hissed. "If you want your friend to be free, pay off his debts to us, sis!"
The SUV drove at high speed, leaving Jonea alone on the side of the road from her house. The girl panicked. She must seek help and save Ed.
Jonea took her scooter and chased after the SUV that brought Ed.
