Chapter 54: Chapter 54

Jonea saw Hunter actually fighting the wolves that were attacking her. The girl could only stare in confusion. She had no idea how the wolf figure had suddenly appeared and attacked them.

Even though Hunter looked more dominant and could deal with attacks, even countered with a landslide, Jonea was still worried. She tried to dodge, and a groan was heard behind her.

Two wolves appeared behind Jonea. They growled softly and threateningly. The girl immediately turned around in an alert and ready-to-fight body position.

"Who are you?" said Jonea.

Two black and slightly gray wolves approached. They turned into two young men who looked very foreign. Jonea had never met them at all.

One of the werewolves suddenly strangled Jonea's neck. The girl fought back and kicked him. Another werewolf hit Jonea from behind; she dodged and ducked.

"Hunter!" shouted one of the werewolves who attacked Jonea. "Is this girl your girlfriend? She's pretty tough!"

Hunter, who was focused on fighting, glanced at Jonea. Hunter suddenly lost focus as soon as he realized Jonea was in danger and was being attacked by the two gray-black werewolves. From the side, the gray wolf pounced on him.

Hunter fell to the ground with a torn shoulder and was bleeding.

Jonea was also shocked. She felt Hunter was too stupid to worry about her. Though Jonea is fine and can protect herself.

The first gray wolf that pounced on Hunter turned into a young man with curly hair and gray eyes. The two wolves that attacked Jonea managed to lock the girl's arms behind her back.

Hunter is getting angry. His eyes are bloodshot, and his fangs stick out sharp. He was ready to die for Jonea.

When Hunter was about to attack his opponent, one of the werewolves punched Jonea in the stomach.

"Stop it if you don't want the girl to die!" threatened the gray wolf.

"Sean, your business is only with me!" Hunter growled. "Free the girl. She has nothing to do with our dispute."

The young man named Sean, who first attacked Hunter, smiled sinisterly. He approached Jonea, who was bent over from the punch in the stomach. He grabbed Jonea's hair until her head pulled back.

Hunter, whose shoulder was still bleeding, could only grit his jaw loudly.

"Don't put your filthy hands on her!"

"Wow… well… looks like this girl is precious to you, huh? I've never seen you so desperate just to protect someone. What's more, she's a human?" quipped Sean.

Jonea, whose head was pulled back, endured excruciating pain. She spat at Sean.

The young man got angry and slapped Jonea's face.

Slap!

Jonea's vision blurred. Hunter turns into a wolf and is about to lunge at Sean.

"Stop right there!" threatened Sean. He bared his fangs and was about to tear Jonea's neck. "This girl will die if you step!"

"What do you want, Motherfucker?"

"Not many!" Sean said casually. "After you chased us away to the rogues, you had the balls to show yourself in our territory, Hunter Abraham."

"Your territory?" Hunter shot Sean an angry glint. "You don't own territory. You guys are still lucky I gave you a place in the rogue! My only regret right now is letting you live!"

Paw!

Sean punched Hunter in the jaw. The young man fell down. Hunter tried to sit up but fell back down when Sean pressed Hunter's shoulder wound.

"You used poison?" shouted Hunter.

"Well! The poison will make you weak, and you won't be able to heal quickly! Ha ha ha…."

Hunter's mouth was bleeding. He spat and worked his jaw to recover from the throbbing and stiffness in his muscles.

"That's your only ability?"

Sean was getting angrier. "How dare you look down on me, Hunter. It's useless for you to bluff. You're alone now. Neither your friends nor your warriors. You guys are just a bunch of losers and spoiled children."

Sean kicked Hunter in the head.

"Stop!" she screamed. "You guys are losers. You guys are only brave in groups."

"Bitch!" shouted one of the charming werewolves, Jonea. The young man pushed Jonea's shoulder until she knelt before Sean.

After getting kicked in the head, Hunter began to lose consciousness. His vision blurred.

Sean still needed more. He wanted to kill Hunter right then and there.

Sean started to turn into a wolf. He was ready to rip open the vein in Hunter's neck.

Jonea took the opportunity. She twisted her captor's arm and tucked into his solar plexus. Managed to escape and took a peg from her bag. The girl jumped at Sean, who was trying to attack Hunter and stabbed the gray wolf's body with a stake.

Sean was surprised by the sudden attack. Jonea gripped the bloodstained stake with trembling hands.

"Wake up, Hunter! Wake up!" she shouted.

The three wolves surrounded Jonea and Hunter. Jonea held on to protect the almost unconscious Hunter.

"Don't even try to come closer!" Jonea threatened while swinging a stake at the three wolves.

The three wolves hesitated as they went forward and saw a silver stake. Sean transformed into a young man, and his two other colleagues followed.

"What an interesting girl. We'll definitely get to you sooner or later. This is just a warning for you. Because you dared to set foot in our territory."

Sean's waist was injured by Jonea's silver stake. At a glance, Jonea could see blood seeping from his wound, which didn't recover immediately. Jonea knew the effects of silver on wolves could be very deadly, significantly, when swung at a vital area.

"Let's go!" Sean shouted at his two colleagues. "One day, we will definitely repay all your poor treatment of us. You have exiled us in the rogue."

Jonea actually saw the three werewolves disappear. She sat limp. Jonea dropped the peg, so it clinked against the asphalt, and then crawled over to Hunter.

"Your wound keeps bleeding."

Jonea removed the scarf around her neck and tightly tied Hunter's shoulders to stop the bleeding.

Hunter is entirely helpless. He was lying on the asphalt with a body covered in wounds.

Jonea noticed that the surroundings were completely dark and quiet. No taxis come close. She didn't even have a cell phone. Public telephones are far away. Hunter's cell phone is also damaged during battle.

"How about this? What should I do?"

Something cold pricked Jonea's skin. She looked up and saw the first snowflakes falling that night.

"He could freeze to death in here. The nights are getting colder, and the snow is starting to fall."

Jonea stared at the closed amusement park gate. The girl tries to find help.

"There should be an officer on duty in there, right?"

When Jonea was about to get up to seek help, Hunter suddenly grabbed her hand and brought her back to her knees.

"How are your injuries?"

Hunter, still with his eyes closed and lying on the asphalt, muttering to Jonea. "It's so cold, Jonea. Please do not leave me. I don't want to die of cold and loneliness here."

Jonea was irritated to hear those desperate words. "You're not going to die, you bastard! Wait a moment; I will seek help."

Jonea reluctantly let go of Hunter's hand. She ran to the fun park gate and pushed around, but nothing happened. Jonea looked around and started climbing the gate.

"I could get involved in a case and be jailed for entering this place without permission. But this is an emergency. What can I do, right?"

Jonea jumped over the fun park fence and ran towards the guard post, which turned out to be empty. She looks for the phone and tries to call someone.

When Jonea had picked up the phone and was ready to dial, she fell silent.

"Damn it! I don't even know the cell phone numbers of people I know. Fuck! Fuck!" the girl kept swearing while banging on the table.

Jonea replaced the receiver. As she was about to leave, the corner of her eye caught a row of locks on one of the walls. Jonea took all the keys and headed towards the gate.

Jonea took a long time to try the keys individually, looking for the right one to open the gate. After almost the 15th try, she succeeded. With all her might, Jonea pushed the very heavy iron gate enough to get through.

She ran back to where the Hunter was lying on the side of the road. The young man was utterly shivering, and his face was ashen. Snow almost covered his body.

Jonea immediately cleared the snow and took Hunter as hard as possible into the amusement park.

"You… are so heavy!" grumbled Jonea as she walked, supporting Hunter with her shoulder. "Oh, come on. Help me so we can take shelter soon. I found a warm place in there."

Jonea leads Hunter into an empty guard post. She turned on the portable heater after closing the door tightly. The security guard's room only contained one chair and table and several pieces of electronic equipment, such as a television and radio.

"Why is there no one at a time like this? Where did the guards go? They should be on guard here for 24 hours." Jonea grumbled as she sat Hunter in a corner.

"Oh, Jonea, this really hurts," said Hunter indulgently.

Jonea placed the bag on the floor and put the silver stake back. Quietly thanked Aland.

"Don't be spoiled!" cried Jonea. "Wait a few minutes until the room is warm enough. You're so fierce when you fight those wolves but so spoiled when you get hurt. Let me check this place out. I think there's a medicine box in here."

Jonea searched the room and found some sterile gauze and alcohol. She approached Hunter, removing his wet coat and shirt.

Hunter grabbed Jonea's body and hugged her tightly while she was already bare-chested.

"What are you doing?" protested Jonea. "How can I clean your wound?"

"Leave it like this for a moment. Oh," Hunter exclaimed with a sigh. "You are so warm, Jonea!"

Jonea was so embarrassed. She hit Hunter's shoulder quite hard and hissed. "Let go, or I'll kill you!"

"What?" he asked. "You want me to do something perverted? I didn't think you were so aggressive, Jonea. It's good that they attacked me tonight."

"Do not tease me!" Jonea said with a blushing face and cheeks.

Jonea let her body be hugged by Hunter for some time. She felt exhausted and sleepy. After cleaning and treating the wound, Jonea sat leaning against the wall. Too many things happened during the whole day.

Hunter didn't respond at all. He rested his head on Jonea's lap. Jonea secretly felt Hunter's heartbeat and the regular rhythm of breathing.

"God, you can sleep like this?"

With great care, Jonea draped her coat over Hunter's body.

"I haven't slept," Hunter said between shivering gasps. "How can I sleep when I'm near you? My heart was beating really fast. I don't know if it's because of the wound or love."

"Nonsense! You must be hallucinating from the effects of the poison."

Jonea closed her eyes and recalled how cool Hunter looked while fighting the wolves.

There were lots of questions running through Jonea's mind. She was confused and didn't know where to start asking that question.

"Just say whatever it is," Hunter muttered under his breath as if he could hear Jonea's thoughts.

The girl was shocked. She wasn't used to Hunter's attitude and character, who was always outspoken enough to make others uncomfortable.

"Why are you still waiting for me here? You're not the kind of guy who would patiently wait. If only you hadn't waited for me and left quickly, maybe things like this wouldn't be so bad—"

Before Jonea finished her words, Hunter grabbed the girl's neck and pulled her head down. Their faces met.

Jonea was shocked. She didn't want Hunter to kiss her like before.

"You think I'm going to kiss you?" teased Hunter with a mischievous smile.

"No! It's not like that… I mean….." Jonea was embarrassed.

Hunter let go of Jonea's neck and closed his eyes. "I want to rest for a while. I feel like my body is shivering, and it hurts all over."

Jonea exhaled and was at a loss for words. She looked at Hunter's innocent face when he fell asleep. Utterly different from Hunter when he was hostile and attacked his friends at school.

"Why did I end up here taking care of you instead?" muttered Jonea.

"Every day, you work very hard. Is it for the necessities of life and your family?" asked Hunter suddenly.

Jonea smiled tiredly and nodded.

"I didn't know your life was that hard. When I started trying to work part-time at your parents' chicken restaurant, I knew you were a tough girl."

Jonea suddenly burst out laughing. "You don't need to feel guilty. You already have everything. What do you think about such things?"

Hunter cowered and avoided coming face-to-face with Jonea. He found a more comfortable position and lay on his side with his head in Jonea's lap.

Jonea folded her arms against the cold. The heater in the room was not enough to keep them warm.

"Hey, can I ask a question? Why do you often hurt other people who disagree and agree with you? Either you guys are serious or just playing around with the weak students at school. But you've gone too far. I know Miller was always bullied at school. Even though he never told me. And I know you guys too–B4 had a hand in the bullying."

Hunter was silent for a long time. Then he said softly. "Are you curious what happened that day to your brother?"
