Chapter 84: Chapter 84

Noah sat on his bed with an angry look on his face.

"What the hell is wrong with you Valeria, answer the damn call." He said as he tried calling her number again.

"Sorry, the number you're calling is not real..." Noah immediately hung up.

He's been calling her for sometime now. Her phone was ringing before but she didn't pick up, and now it's not reachable.

"Hope you aren't playing a trick on me, Valeria," he thought.

"I'm not like some people, Noah."

"I keep to my words, unlike some people, so rest assured that I won't go back on my words."

Valeria's words rang in his ears.

"I just pray you don't go back on your words, Valeria." He said, staring at his phone.

He sighed, then he stood up, he threw his phone on his bed, then he went into his bathroom to take a shower.

Valeria woke up in the middle of the night. She and Shane had slept on the couch in Fred's ward.

She stood up quietly, being careful not to wake Shane up. She tipped to where Fred was lying on the bed, still sleeping soundly. She checked up on him to make sure he was fine, and when she was assured that he was okay, she smiled, and she kissed his forehead lovingly.

She went to the other side of bed, where the bedside table was, and she picked up her phone.

"I'll have to call Noah back, otherwise I won't be able to sleep peacefully. Bet he must be thinking I've ditched him or something, I'll have to call him back to clear that up. I already told the idiot that I wouldn't go back on my words. I wonder why the fool keeps on calling me," Valeria muttered.

She looked at Shane, then at Fred, then she quietly walked to the door, slowly opened it, being careful not to make a sound that'd cause Shane to wake up. When she'd successfully opened the door, she went outside, gently closing the door behind her.

She went outside the hospital, since she needed a lot of privacy.

"It's so late already, I wonder if he'll still pick up," She thought.

"I'll still try it." She said, then she dialed Noah's number.

She could hear his phone ringing, but he didn't answer it, until the call ended.

"Oh great, I guess the fool is asleep, let me try again." She said, then she tried his number again, and this time, he picked him up almost immediately.

"Hello, Valeria?" Noah asked.

His voice sounded so weak and tired, but Valeria didn't care about that at all.

"Yes, it's me."

"I was calling you before, why didn't you pick up? You weren't trying to ditch me were you?" Noah asked, and Valeria rolled her eyes at him.

"I already told you, I won't go back on my words, so can you please stop saying I'm going to ditch you, because I won't do that."

"Good, so tell me then, why didn't you pick up the first time i called you?"

Valeria felt like yelling at him and telling him that it was none of his business.

"I was busy with something, what's it you want to say?" She asked impatiently.

Noah cleared his throat, he truly didn't have anything reasonable to say to her, he just wanted to hear her voice, he'd missed her so much, but he couldn't tell her that.

"Hello? Noah? Are you there?" Valeria asked when she didn't hear anything from him.

"Err....I just wanted to tell you that you shouldn't be late for work tomorrow." Noah said. Valeria scoffed.

"Okay, if that's all you have to say, I'll hang up now."

"No no no no, wait a minute." Noah said in a hurry, causing Valeria to frown.

"What's it this time?" She groaned in frustration.

"Look here Noah, I'm really tired and I want to sleep. I already told you, I won't be late for work tomorrow, can you please leave me the fuck alone already." Valeria said in frustration.

"How's your baby?" Noah asked, and Valeria froze instantly.

She couldn't even say anything else.

"H hello, Valeria? I know you're there, answer me already, how's your baby?" Noah repeated the question.

"H h how did you know about my baby? How did you even find out I have a baby?" Valeria stuttered.

"Don't be surprised, Ergon told me all that happened, and also, I'm the only one he's told. No one else knows about this except the three of us."

"What?" Valeria asked in shock.

She just couldn't believe that Ergon kept the truth hidden all these years. She just couldn't believe that he never told anyone the truth about her being pregnant for all these years, but why? Why would Ergon do that? Why didn't he tell anyone? What's his reason for keeping quiet? And why did he only tell Noah?

"Yes Valeria, Ergon only told me, he didn't tell anyone else. Why are you surprised?"

"Tell me Valeria, how's your baby? I..is it a boy or a girl?" Noah found himself asking, he was so eager to know the gender.

"Why?" Valeria asked, her voice quivering with unshed tears.

"What?"

"Why are you asking me all these questions, huh? And what's it to you? Why do you want to know if my child is a boy or a girl? None of this is your concern, Noah, and if Ergon told you everything, I'm sure he's also told you he denied being the father of my baby. Hope he told you everything and I'm sure he's painted me black already."

"You know what Noah, never bring the past to me, never ever talk about my past again. Don't mention Ergon's name to me either, and also, I want you to ask about my child, just stay out of those things. I never wanted anything to do with your family again, but i have ended up doing the opposite. The only thing connecting us together is just the condition you gave me in order to help me, so please, just stick to that, and don't cross your limits." Valeria said in anger.

"Vale-" She didn't let Noah finish before she hung up.

The past tried to force their way into her memory again, but she did her best in shoving those memories aside. She didn't want to remember any of them.

anything about Ergon.

"Bastard!!" She cussed.

She wiped off her tears, then she went back inside.
