Chapter 241: Chapter 241
[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]
How many hours had we been in that battlefield?
I looked around to find my husband. The last time I saw him, he was fighting three giant shadow werewolves that tried to take down the doors of the gates. I was so worried he wouldn’t be able to stop the three of them, but I was blocked by four of them that had silver coatings on their sharp claws.
Darkness started to embrace the gray, cloudy sky, and fear started to emerge in me. We had been fighting for hours now. Dead bodies started piling up in the area, and flames were spreading through the Black Forest.
I had no idea what was happening anymore. If there was progress happening. If we were able to stop the enemies from getting too close to the gates. But they kept on coming. They continued to move forward as their numbers increased. The source of thɪs content is novelꞁire.net
No. I couldn’t let them get inside the gates of Silver Crescent! I wouldn’t let them infiltrate and destroy our homes and kill families!
Letting out an angry roar, the Black Claws that were in front of me almost stumbled on their feet as they all saw the lightning bolts that started to encircle my body. My eyes glowed liquid gold as I bared my teeth on them, ready to tear them into pieces.
The number of the Black Claws and Shadow Werewolves started to thicken when darkness enveloped the forest. My heart was racing, and I was beginning to feel the exhaustion when I looked around and saw some of Liam’s Gamma soldiers retreating from the front line.
Five more giant shadow werewolves appeared from the forest, as despair stabbed me like a cold knife in my chest, scared of whatever had happened to my husband.
[Dominic! Dominic, where are you!?] I tried to reach out to him, screaming through the mindlink of our mate bond, hoping he was still alive. He couldn’t die ! Not when we just got rid of the curse! There was no way Black Claws or Shadow werewolves could put down my husband!
Fear started to cloud my head like the dark gray sky above me. It was threatening to rain hard, and once the rain poured down, it would be difficult to track down all of our people who were still alive in that forest.
The rain would erase their scent! And that meant I wouldn’t be able to track down my husband if ever something happened to him and he was badly wounded.
[Liam! Where is Dominic!] I asked as soon as I caught him leading a group of Gamma towards the forest. He turned his head to look at me, and I saw how he was so focused on stopping another batch of Black Claws that were surging towards the gates.
[I believe he’s in the forest as well, Luna!] Liam answered, his jaw clenched and unclenched. [He’s trying to stop the giant ones from destroying the gates!]
That’s when I decided I had to go to Dominic. I had no idea what was happening to him anymore and if he was able to stop the enemies from flooding the gates. I had to make sure he was alive!
But to my surprise, the group of giant shadow werewolves went straight to the walls and slammed themselves against them with all their might. It was so hard and strong that the ground quaked as they tried to destroy the walls with their bodies.
[Shit!] I hissed as terror started to claw in my gut. My eyes widened more when I saw how the walls started to crack until they crumbled to the ground, together with the three giant wolves who lay dead on top of the debris.
[SAMANTHA! GO BACK! They can’t get inside the Pack Manor!] Liam screamed in my head with terror in his voice.
I had never heard Liam panic like that before, so my body automatically moved as I ran back to the Pack Manor as fast as I could. He was right. We couldn’t let the enemies reach the city! My Devon and Diana were staying at the Pack house, and there was no way I would let these bastards get inside that place!
They had to kill me first!
As fast as I could, I raced with the Black Claws and the Shadow Werewolves towards the city. I killed a bunch of them on the way and wished I could kill more, but their numbers still kept on adding.
I didn’t know where the hell they came from or how they managed to have so many people in their pack like that! I cursed several times as I tried to breathe, my lungs burning for so much oxygen, more than I could inhale.
[Where the hell are you, Dominic!] I hissed under my breath, wondering about what happened to my husband as I tried to outrun the enemies behind me, wanting to get to the pack house before they could.
To my horror, arrows coated with silver rained above the Silver Crescent sky. I thought my soul would escape from my body when they started to land on the rooftops, killing some of the innocent citizens of the pack. Rage started to burn in my chest as I watched the arrows being shot at the poor civilian in the streets. I wanted to help. I wanted to save those people! But I couldn’t let the enemies get to the pack house because I was certain they would look for my twins and kill them!
My heart was throbbing loudly in my ears. My throat was tight as I jumped from roof to roof, thinking about Devon and Diana. My fingertips were cold, as well as my beaded sweat. If anything bad were ever to happen to them—
The whistle blew, and I thought my soul throbbed the second I heard it. Like the sound pierced through my very core. Urgent. Fierce. It gave me extra strength to go faster than I ever ran in my entire life, and I ran at lightning speed straight to the pack house, not caring about anything anymore. Not caring about the silver-coated arrows that shot past me as they tried to stop me from getting to the building first.
I thought I was right on time, but I was wrong.
When I got inside and went straight to Devon and Diana’s room, I found my son lying on the floor, struggling to get up, while Diana was being held by one of the Black Claws by her wrist. Devon was the one who blew the whistle.
“Mom!” Both cried, and the beast held Diana in front of him as if threatening to kill her if I got any closer to them.
“Mom, they got Diana!” Devon cried. My poor son, who tried his best to protect Diana, was then crying in front of me, scared for his sister’s life.
[It’s okay, Devon, Diana.] I whispered to them through the mind link, trying to calm both of them. [Mommy’s here now. I will save you no matter what. I won’t let that monster hurt your sister, Devon.]
[Let go of my daughter!] I snarled at the Black Claw werewolf, taking a step closer to them. My eyes glowed bright gold as I glared at him, making sure he knew that he wouldn’t get out of this building alive if he ever hurt my Diana.
To my surprise, I felt two familiar presences coming towards us, and I saw the terror in the Black Claw’s eyes as he looked behind me and noticed two more giant Alphas walking inside the room.
Devon’s face lit up as soon as he saw his Father and Uncle Killian’s wolves.
[I’ll kill her!] The Black Claw werewolf threatened us with a trembling voice. [I’ll kill her if you make one more step towards here!]
Despite my new power, Dominic was still faster than me, so I trusted when I felt him crouch a little and then move around the room at the speed of lightning. Devon, who couldn’t believe what happened, almost dropped his jaw on the ground as he watched how fast his father could move, even in a smaller space like their room.
[Watch out! More arrows incoming!]
Arrows started flying inside the room through the wide window, shattering the glass as the shards exploded all over the room. I jumped in front of my son to shield him from the sharp glass shards, while Killian positioned himself in front of me and Devon to protect us from the poisoned arrows.
[What are you doing, Killian! Those are poisoned!]
[A thank you would be appreciated, though,] he winced sarcastically. [I never expected you to be very concerned about me like that.] He then grinned when he saw me rolling my eyes at him.
[Just don’t do anything reckless again and die on me, Killian. I don’t want to explain to Brianne if ever you die in here.] I uttered, almost smiling, but suppressed myself, not giving him the pleasure of seeing me looking upset or worried.
I immediately went to check on Diana and was relieved when she was fine and not harmed. She was trembling, though, but Devon embraced his twin sister to calm her down.
I wasn’t sure if it was just imagining it, but when I turned to look back at Killian, I saw him gently smiling at me.
