Chapter 242: Chapter 242
[ALPHA DOMINIC’s Point of View]
I couldn’t help but stare.
For many hours, I was trapped in the Black Forest trying to stop the giant shadow werewolves from marching forward towards the gates of Silver Crescent. Their size could take down the walls, and I had to stop them before they could even step inside the border.
I made it clear to Liam that he shouldn’t take his eyes away from Samantha. He had to make sure she wouldn’t go after me, no matter what, because I knew this mission was more dangerous than stopping the Black Claws from infiltrating the walls.
As much as I wanted Samantha to just stay in the Pack House, I believed that my Beta and she could handle the enemies closing towards the gates. It’s a different story, though, if it’s about these oversized beasts that could bring down the walls and weaken the Silver Crescent’s defense against the enemies. I would never let my wife get any closer to these deadly creatures.
There was a loud crash, and I knew right at that moment that some of them had successfully breached the wall—something that terrified me, knowing that the number of the enemies around the area was tripling! I had to go back! I had to make sure my wife was safe and stop the Black Claws from flooding the gates of my city!
I couldn’t reach her through our bond link! It was as if something was jamming all the mental communication I had with my subordinates, making it difficult for me to get in touch with them and understand the situation. I had to go back!
The giant shadow werewolf in front of me must have noticed that I was about to return to the walls, so he blocked my way and glared at me with his glowing purple eyes. I glared back and let out a powerful roar, freezing all the enemies around me for a few seconds, which was enough time for me to rip their throats one by one using my lightning speed.
Two. Three. Four. Every shadow werewolf that ever blocked my way had its throat ripped away from its neck. I had no time to waste. Every second that I was away from my wife meant danger for her.
The trees started to blur from view, and all I saw was my wife’s pale and terrified face. Then I realized what had scared her after I stopped fifteen meters away from the walls. Three giant werewolves took down a part of the wall, giving the Black Claws a chance to infiltrate the city.
I thought my whole body went cold as I stood there, watching it in disbelief. All I knew was I lured all the giant ones towards the Black Forest and never expected this new batch of bastards would ruin all my plans.
[No f*cking way!] A snarl ripped in my throat as I saw how my wife raced with the Black Claw enemies, not letting them get into the Pack house first. I saw Liam giving orders to the other Gamma soldiers, and he looked at me with a steel gaze, as if urging me to go after Samantha and ensure the kids were safe in their hiding place.
Samantha was surprisingly quick! I never expected her to be that fast, even with the new powers that her mother passed to her through the thread of fate, but she outran the Black Claws like they were nothing. I saw her get into the Pack House first, but then I detected a dark presence inside already, which made me more terrified for Diana and Devon’s safety.
Another familiar presence was heading to the same spot, and Killian and I were ready to tear the place down if it meant killing that bastard who grabbed my daughter.
I made sure Diana and Devon were in a safe place after we made sure the city’s defense was fortified from the Black Claws and the shadow werewolves.
Diana was still terrified about what had happened, so we made sure my wife and I wouldn’t get too far from the twins, not until we were sure Liam had secured the wall that had been taken down a few hours ago.
My wife looked like a goddess as she stood underneath the pale brightness of the moon, as she, Killian, and I decided to secure the Pack Mansion and check if there would be more enemies that would get inside the perimeter.
I had no idea that Killian decided to join the battle today against the people of the Black Forest, but I had a feeling Samantha asked him to stay while we all waited for the result of the Pack Healer’s study about the potion we found in the box of the Wolf Tomb.
But fighting alongside her it was a totally different experience! I had never thought I would fall deeper in love with Samantha than I already felt for her. She looked majestic as she fought the enemies in front of the gates. Her moves were smooth as she glided.
She almost looked as if she were dancing in the middle of the battlefield. I had never seen someone fight as gracefully as Samantha before. Even Olivia couldn’t reach the kind of beauty that Samantha showed to me and the rest of the pack as she protected the gates. She was powerful yet gentle. Someone’s enemies would tremble when they saw her, but admire her beauty at the same time.
My eyes stared at her fighting gear snuggled tight on her sexy body, and I could see all her crazy, amazing curves. I couldn’t remember the last time my hands rested on her. The last time I touched her sweet, soft skin. All of a sudden, the desire to kiss her and pin her against the wall overwhelmed my senses, making low snarls in my throat that I tried to suppress so hard.
“Hey, Dad.” Devon tugged my shirt as he whispered. “Your eyes are glowing red.”
I didn’t notice it until my son told me about it, and I quickly lowered my eyes, trying not to distract my wife, knowing that I was in heat. I ruffled Devon’s hair and then grinned at him.
Clearing my throat as my wife approached me, I noticed that she had a small cut on her head, making my brows automatically furrow. My chest was filled with worry as I tried to touch and check her wound. But Samantha flinched from me, making me so confused by her reaction.
Was she upset with me?
It made me think of any reason why she didn’t want me to touch her.
“Killian needs a healer,” she told me, which made my frown deepen. I couldn’t believe she was more concerned about that guy than her own injuries! She continued. “He shielded me and Devon from the poisoned arrows, and now he needs some cure for silver poisoning.”
“I’m fine,” Killian answered, smiling a little awkwardly when he met my glare. “It’s just small wounds. It will heal.”
“Idiot. Not when it’s poisoned with silver!” Samantha smiled at him as she approached the MoonStone Alpha with a bandage.
A strange, angry feeling emerged in my chest as soon as I watched my wife crouch down to bandage Killian’s wounds so gently that it annoyed the hell out of me.
“There.” Samantha smiled as soon as she thought she had done a good job of treating the MoonStone Alpha’s wounds, and that was it. I guess it was the boundary of my patience.
So I started walking towards her and pulled her up by the arm, surprising her with a quick kiss on the lips.
Samantha was so stunned that she didn’t have time to protest. She had no way to snarl at me in front of the kids, so I just grinned at her and raised an eyebrow as I bit my lower lip, still tasting her on mine.
“Come here and I’ll dress that graze on your forehead,” I said gently to her, while she stared at me in disbelief over what I had just done. ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ nοvelfire.net
And, oh, Moon Goddess, she tasted so sweet!
Samantha’s face flushed as she quietly followed me into the room with slow steps. Diana was grinning at me and her mother when Samantha entered the room and closed the door behind her.
