Chapter 29: Chapter 29

The wind swirled wildly as sand swept across the streets, it was dark and cozy as creepy sounds could be heard along with footsteps. Two men in black had an axe in each hand while keeping keen ears to any strange sound. The former sniffed a log of wood on the ground and suddenly began racing towards a direction, unfortunately they he didn't find what they were searching.

"They've moved her" the latter began while placing two fingers to the ground, he crossed them and heaved a sigh.

"If it's not Arthadal, then it's doom city" the former added scrutinizing the environment as he could perceive that a sudden silence was maintained in this place. They both suspect that a creature was out on the watch for them.

"He's not going to leave you alone" the latter cried jolting his axe in a defense manner as the former scoffed while spitting out blood, he cleaned the sweat that had popped out on his face and darken his gaze at a shadow.

"Nor would I" he muttered running wildly at the shadow and the latter stormed after him.The latter haven't gotten close to these two that exchanged strength when he suddenly saw that the former had defeated the prey and almost slaying it but the latter to stop him for certain reasons.

"I will take it from here alex" he reckoned holding on to him to leave the prey but Alex wasn't willing to leave this creature alone as he wished to smash it to shreds. He had pinned the creature to the ground and was on it while using his axe to wedge its throat, he glared at it with anger.

"We need to ask him some questions!" The latter reasoned and Alex let go of it while panting heavily as his face was covered with strand of blood stains. He waited behind the latter who interrogated this beast. Alex could see his hands were shaking and immediately the later was done with the interrogation, he slayed the creature and it's blood spilled on the latter who was in front of it. He wiped his face with his shirt disgust by the green liquid and glanced at the creature which was brutalized.

"you're getting angrier this time around..."

"What Colton! I've been trying I just can't control it anymore, you know how my hands are when I've got no enchanted gloves on!" He rants in anger as he threw the axe to the ground. Colton swallowed and rubbed his forehead as he could clearly see that Alex had no gloves on which meant it was willing to slay anything it comes across.

"Did you lose them? Because you had them on when we left the mansion".

Alex glared at him as though he had forgotten what they encountered when threading towards this place; Colton would have almost died if he didn't pull off those gloves to rescue him from the troops of wolves that attacked them on the mountains but unfortunately it got wretched by a beta who got sight of it.

"We need another..." Colton paused and widen his eyes at Alex whose hands were shaking gravely. He didn't fear for anyone except the one they were aiming to rescue, he raised his head a little to stared at Alex's eyes but he was already a distance away from him and he had to stride towards him.

"One thing you should know Colton is to let go of that soft heart of yours, it's what keeps me striving" Alex warned and he got mute for a while. Alex was certainly right, Colton who appears to be violent at looks had a soft heart which could easily be deceived. However he sure knew when to be soft on someone.

"Are you going to do the same to her?" He suddenly asked in a low tone divulging from what Alex intended to talk about but a glare was his reply and he scoffed.

"I will take that as a no" he said Hastening his steps as Alex was walking ahead of him.

"231, 232..."

"Keep quiet!" A voice roared at the woman who was tied on a dartboard, she kept counting in numbers as her face could guarantee that someone was coming to rescue her.

"It was a mistake, I never mean to summon any of you, just let me go!" She beckoned with a frustrated gaze as she furthered in her counting. Earlier, she had brought out a spell page which she tore from a book and was confused about the magic words, however, she said it the wrong way and found herself in this place that seemed like a dungeon. While she intended to figure out where she was, two guards found her, got her chained to a dartboard and here she still waiting for what turn life had to offer.

"Luna alphine is here" A guard whisper to its partner as they stepped away from the door while the prisoner stared with probing eyes. She could hear footsteps approaching them and got more tensed to see who it could be but no one was coming.

"Just an act" she thought loud.

"I believe so" another added and she flinched surprised at who stood behind her. The two guards gave a bow and left this woman with the prisoner.

"Who are you?"

"I believe the guard had proclaimed my name to your hearing" she snapped as her voice echoed loud like thunder, perhaps she might be the villian of this whole shred because she didn't look friendly.

"What do you want from me?" She barked as though backed up with some protection against this Luna.

"Evelyn i would make it simple, ..."

"If it's the necklace, I won't give it!" She snapped and alphine scoffed while threading around her, she could remember when she first saw this nervous lady in the cave, digging where she wasn't meant to and she only spared her because a day like this might come.

"Far more than that dear" alphine tabled pulling off her cape which was suspended in the air.

"What?" Evelyn exclaimed shocked by what this woman's request might be if it's not certainly entailed around the necklace. She gave an evil chuckle while staring at her as though enchanting Evelyn whose eyes twirled in confusion. In a short while, she began to cough as this room was covered in dust and she could see alphine pacing away with a smile, soon two shadow appeared in the shaddy room and her eyes tried hard to picture who these figures where, she saw the one of this figure stepping back as though it chased after alphine.

"Colton I'm over here!" She yelled struggling to get out of the chains that attached her to the dartboard. She was able to detect it was Colton once the figure drew closer, Evelyn bet that was why alphine vanished in the thick smoke that formed clouds and covered her vision. Hurriedly, he freed her, she knew there was a lot to answer for from these two men mostly Alex who wouldn't take chances.

"Did he go after her?". He nodded and held her wrist to run along with her. When they stepped out, she realized this place was a palace as they avoided being sighted by guards and passerby. Evelyn was amazed that such a place existed because it was magnificent and orderly but these two men segregated themselves from this place because she feels this was where they belong and Alex left based on a wrong that he committed or just intended to be a rogue and explore the human world. Her speculations were all wrong yet she still reason hard to come up with the perfect idea that would suit the situation. They hid behind pillars, knocked down a few guards that sighted them and then were about to take the secret passage way out when Colton was suddenly attracted to something. It a flute which played a distance away, his steps became heavy and slow as his eyes waxed hot. Evelyn noticed this, certainly that flute must have stream back memories to him, if he missed this place why did he leave with Alex?

"Colton, aren't we leaving anymore?" She reminded and he unexpectedly collapsed.

"Oh my God!" She panicked shaking as it was devastating that he slumbered without saying a word and if they don't get out of this place, they would be held back by this guard.

"Alex, Alex, Alex" she called as though that name was a magic word as she believed he always showed up when she needed help and it actually was! He turned up just in time to save these two from being sighted by the guards, he carried Colton over his shoulder, growled at Evelyn and led the wat. However before she got into the passage way, she locked eyes with alphine who was behind a pillar not too far from them.

"Do you think she would do it?" A man who was covered in grey beard and wore a royal outfit muttered while crossing his hands to the back. She gave a bow as his eyes met a scratch on her shoulder, he assumes Alex must have done that and wasn't worried because it would eventually heal up.

"She has no choice" alphine assured and gave a devilish smile while striding away. The man glared at the secret passage for a while and took his leave.
