Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Cassandra quickly dragged Sebastian away when Ikrur jumped to the other side. She held his hand while Lisanna rushed over them and quickly healed him while handing him a shirt.

Cassandra was silently thanking that the Council arrived. When Sebastian opened his eyes, Cassandra immediately hugged him.

Sebastian rubbed her back. Cassandra faced him and slapped him in the face. He was surprised by what she did. Even their allies around them gasped. She was huffing while glared at him.

"What were you thinking, Blood!? Recklessly attacking him!? Do you really want to die that much!? Do you really want to leave me?!" Cassandra angrily shouted while hitting Sebastian's chest repeatedly. All of her bottled anger, worries, and fears burst out.

"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, love," Sebastian whispered and kissed her on the forehead. Cassandra hugged her tightly. She doesn't know what to do if something terrible were to happen to her mate. She would die.

"Sebastian," Elijah called. Sebastian stood up and helped Cassandra. He bowed his head to honor Elijah as the High Council, and Cassandra also did the same.

"Command the other vampires. I've already informed other members of the Council and they are currently fighting---urgh."

"Elijah?!" Sebastian asked, panicking. He was about to walk towards him when he suddenly stopped. Casandra's eyes went wide at the gruesome sight in front of her.

"No! Elijah!" Sebastian shouted. Cassandra's knees weakened, and she knelt down on the ground, covering her mouth while watched the dagger stabbed Elijah's chest.

"Fuck! Why!?" Sebastian angrily shouted. "Why did you betray us, Liam!?" he added while trembling in rage. He was about to attack Liam, but Cassandra pulled him back and squeezed his hand. Liam was smiling devilishly. On the side, she saw Jet and Oliver; there were tears in their eyes. They couldn't believe what Liam did. Then it hit Cassandra; those missing girls, the plan, they knew all of it.

"Sebastian, my Sebastian. The Liam you knew is all a lie," Liam said while smiling. Cassandra clenched her hand into a fist.

"I created him. He never existed and all of you fell blindly in his trap," Liam said and laughed. "Poor souls, you think he's your trusted friend? Hah! Fools!" he added while waving the dagger and laughing evilly.

"I had really fun with you," Liam said. Jet angrily attacked him, but they were surprised when Jet flew away from them. Liam scoffed.

"You really think you can kill me, Jet?" Liam said and shake his head. "Who are you?" Cassandra bravely asked

"Albarin Magnus," it was Elijah who answered Cassandra's question.

"How? How are you alive?" Sebastian asked, shocked even Cassandra couldn't believe what she was seeing. Elijah's standing alive and well in front of them.

"You underestimate me, Sebastian. Who do you think I am?" Elijah said while crossing his arms. "You're dulled with fear and confusion, you didn't even notice I was using illusions," he added.

"As expected of the High Council. A petty trick like that won't work," Liam laughed. Lisanna froze when she heard Elijah spoke Liam's real name.

"Albarin Magnus? He's just joking right?" Lisanna asked; she paled. "Lis?" Who is he?" Cassandra asked.

"He's one of the strongest in wizards and witches history. He was once a good wizard but he's blinded by greed and he broke the rule of our race," Lisanna said while trembling in fear.

"Cassy, if he's Albarin Magnus, we don't stand a chance! He is stronger than us. We will all die!" Lisanna mumbled. Cassandra glanced, and when she locked eyes with Albarin, he smiled. It sent bolts of shiver in her spine. It happened quickly that Cassandra had no time to even blink. She was already standing behind Elijah like he was protecting her from Albarin.

"Come on, Elijah! Let me kill that girl," Liam said while staring straight into Cassandra. She couldn't utter a word and just tremble in fear. Cassandra grabbed Elijah's cape tightly.

"Albarin, you cannot do as you please. You are banished in this land long time ago," Elijah seriously said.

"Then, I guess the boy will have to die first." Liam shrugged his shoulder and turned his attention to Sebastian. Sebastian looked at him and stood a defensive stand. Cassandra glanced at her mate and shook her head, telling him to escape while still having the chance.

"Albarin, are you still afraid of the prophecy that Queen Hildegarde spoke of?" Elijah mockingly asked. Albarin's smile vanished and attacked Elijah was able to ward the attack off.

"The girl with a pure heart and the boy who have a strong sense of justice," Elijah began.

"Two people but with different races bonded as one and became mates. And when the moon turns blood red. The Moon Goddess' chosen one and the successor and rightful heir of the Queen, the two of them will defeat the darkness, and that is you and Ikrur," Elijah ended.

Cassandra could feel her heartbeats erratically because of what she had heard. Albarin shouted a chain of curses. Ikrur, on the other hand, remained silent, but anger was visible on his face.

"This is the payment of the evil deeds you did," Elijah said and looked at Cassandra.

"You are the chosen one Cassandra and Sebastian is the successor and the rightful heir of Queen Hildegarde."
