Chapter 37: Chapter 37

Cassandra was dumfounded at Elijah's sudden revelation. The questions flashback to her. She once read it in Helena's journal, and now it has been answered. Albarin roared, furious at what Elijah has said, and attacked Cassandra with a dagger he was holding in his hand. It happened quickly again, and Cassandra found herself slumped in the ground with Sebastian on top of her, shielding her from harm.

"Are you okay?" Sebastian asked worriedly. "Elijah!" Albarin's raging in anger.

"I told you, Albarin. I'm your opponent," Elijah calmly said. Albarin grinned and uttered something, and after that, a light emerges in front of them, and a ghoul suddenly went out. Sebastian hoisted Cassandra.

"Go to, Jet! I need you to be safe, love," Sebastian said, but Cassandra looked at him and glared. She's afraid, yes, but she's not weak. She may be a woman, but she's an Alpha.

Cassandra took a step to confront the enemy. Sebastian looked exasperated.

"We're equal Sebastian. Your fight is also my fight. Don't argue with me, love, and let's just kill this fucker," Cassandra said. Sebastian's eyes widened. She picked the dagger beside her and took a defensive stance.

While Albarin's busy with his fight with Elijah. Ikrur was the same, dealing with three council members all by himself. Cassandra glanced at Sebastian and nodded her head. Sebastian did the same and attacked the ghoul, stabbing him in the process.

The ghoul roared in pain; Cassandra rushed to it and stabbed its leg. Sebastian rode its back, strangling him. He waved his hand, and a huge rock went to the ghoul's face. Cassandra transformed back into her wolf and bite its stomach. She felt disgusted tasting the green liquid coming off from the ghoul. Sebastian jumped down, and the ghoul fell to the ground, dead. To make sure, Sebastian stabbed his chest.

"Hecatos!" Ikrur roared. The battlefield fell in silence. The man with a black coat appeared, and they didn't expect to see him.

"Hecatos or should I say Gideon Henderson," Elijah said. "What a pleasant surprise! I don't know you're involved in this conspiracy," he added, mocking Hecatos. Casandra felt betrayed.

She doesn't know, but she felt irritated. Gideon Henderson manages Academia, and she greatly respected him for that, but it turns out that he's also a traitor.

"Oh, please Elijah! Spare me with your mockery," Hecatos said. "I'm just a merely boring being who wanted to enjoy and that's why I'm here. I decided to join in this little battle," he added while smiling.

"Mr. H!? How could you!?" Sebastian couldn't believe it. Hecatos smiled. They were surprised that Hecatos was suddenly in front of them. Sebastian kicked him, which made Hecatos stepped back. Hecatos looked at Cassandra and strangle her, lifting her to the air. Cassandra closed her eyes and waited for what's about to happen. She thought that the prophecy was wrong. Maybe she wasn't the chosen one, as Elijah said. Cassandra's gradually losing her breath, but then, Hecatos let her go. She was chasing her breath when she opened her eyes.

"Stupid," Hecatos muttered and throw Jessa's unmoving body to the ground. Cassandra crawled towards her body and lay her head in her lap.

"Why did you do that?! Why did save me?!" Cassandra asked while crying. Jessa smiled and wiped the tears on her face.

"Must protect the Queen," Jessa said while coughing blood. "Angel is right, the prophecy is right," she added while having difficulty breathing.

"Don't talk, Jessa! You'll be in danger if you keep doing that!" Cassandra hysterically said. "Listen carefully, Cassandra," Jessa said.

"You and your mate will bring peace and end this war…Angel already saw this…just trust the Moon Goddess," she added.

"We were not wrong on choosing you as the Queen," Jessa said and coughs blood once again. "You truly are befitting of the title Queen," she added and closed her eyes. Cassandra wept; she felt heavy inside. Seeing her friends dying one by one in front of her was devastating.

Cassandra leaned down and kissed Jessa's forehead.

"You will be remembered, Jessa," Cassandra said. Hecatos uninterestedly looked at her. She bravely stood up and readied herself.

"Do you know why Albarin and Lord Ikrur were fixated on killing you?" Hecatos asked. Cassandra glared at her, and he laughed.

"You don't know? How naive! Then let me tell you, Cassandra," Hecatos said.

"Albarin and Lord Ikrur kept targeting you because if you die, Sebastian will die with you. After all, a King without his Queen is useless."
