Chapter 35: Chapter 35

"Everyone, take cover! Run!" Sebastian yelled. Cassandra watched as their allies began to run away from the burning arrows, but she just stood frozen on the ground.

"Cassandra, let's go!" someone said and dragged her away. Cassandra was lost in her thoughts. Fear engulfed her body, and she doesn't know what to do.

"Cassandra! Wake the fuck up!"

It was Ryley who shouted at her. She's a mage among the people Sebastian recruited. She slapped Cassandra so hard and created a barrier to protect their selves from the blazing arrows. Cassandra glanced around and saw mages creating barriers, but her heart aches when some of them didn't survive and died.

"Cassandra, listen! You need to listen to me!" Ryley said while holding her shoulder with her free hand. Cassandra saw the ghouls, trolls, rogue vampires, and wolves started marching towards them. She looked at Ryley and nodded her head. Cassandra wanted to break down and cry, but it's not the right time for her to do it. She needs to be strong for everyone's sake.

"Cassandra, I can't hold it anymore. My barrier will dispel any minute from now so I need you to run, okay?" Ryley said while crying. Cassandra covered her mouth as her tears stream down from her eyes. It's not the only blazing arrows that they were facing right now and the creatures loyal to Ikrur. She shook her head. Cassandra doesn't know Ryley that much, but she's already part of the family to her.

"I don't want to leave you!" Cassandra shouted.

"Cassandra, there's no time!" Ryley said and looked ahead. "Listen! Those monsters were going to attack us. I want you to regroup!" she added.

"We can't defeat them if it's only the two of us. I need you to be safe!" Ryley said while struggling to maintain the barrier. With a heavy heart, Cassandra nodded her head.

"That's my brave girl. Now, on the count of three, run for Dreige's group, got it?" Ryley ordered tiredness was visible in her eyes. Cassandra readied herself.

"One,"

"Two,"

"Three!" Cassandra hurriedly transformed into her wolf form and ran towards Dreige's group. When she came up safely, she looked back to where Ryley is and saw her struggling, an arrow already pierced her heart. Ryley mumbled something and smiled before the ghouls tore her

apart. Cassandra howled in pain. She howled for the loss of a friend and for every comrade that died in this war.

Vampires and ghouls started breaking their barriers. Cassandra snarled bravely. After the barrier collapsed, she attacked the vampire, bit him on the shoulder, and twisted his neck. She harshly threw his dead body on the ground. Dreige and others were fighting against the ghouls when a werewolf appeared and bared its teeth to Dreige. He was about to attack Dreige while he was preoccupied with fighting the ghoul, but Cassandra stood protectively in front of him, baring her teeth to the rogue, and growled viciously.

The rogue werewolf snarled for the interruption and lunged at Cassandra. She quickly dodges and twists her body, biting the rogue on his underbelly. The rogue whimpered and kicked Cassandra off of him. Because of what the rogue did, Cassandra was forced to let him go.

"You are not going to win this war, mutt!" the rouge said while they circle around each other ready to attack. He suddenly leaped at her, and his claws grazed her shoulder. Cassandra barely managed to escape before his claws lands on her face. She hissed in pain. Cassandra angrily pounced at the rogue, pinning him to the ground biting his neck.

"I, Cassandra Louise Reese, the Alpha Female and daughter of Blake Reese am commanding you to stand down rouge!" Cassandra venomously said. Her father raised her to be strong.

"Never!" the rogue spat.

"I gave you a chance," Cassandra softly said and twisted the rogue's neck. She got down from the rogue's dead body and saw Dreige already defeated the ghouls they were fighting.

"Where's Blood?" Cassandra asked Dreige. He remained silent while huffing. She nervously glanced around the scattered corpses on the ground. Cassandra's heart began to beat faster when she couldn't see Sebastian anywhere.

"Dreige! Where's my mate?!" Cassandra hysterically asked.

"There! He's there!" Dreige said and pointed to Sebastian, who's walking towards Ikrur.

"Oh god! No, please no!" Cassandra said while tearing up. "Don't tell me that he's going to fight Ikrur all by himself!?" she added, scared.

"I need to stop him," Cassandra said while trembling. She began running in his direction, avoiding every obstacle as she passed by. Dreige followed her. Cassandra saw Sebastian took about a sharp knife.

"No, no, no!" Cassandra yelled. She doesn't want the nightmare she previously had to become real. Vampires attacked them on their way to Sebastian.

"Go on, Dreige! Take Cassandra with you," Leon seriously said. He's a member of the Falcon family. Dreige nodded his head, and they started going to where Sebastian is.

"Fuck! We're not gonna make it!" Dreige cursed.

"Blood, no! Don't do it!" Cassandra yelled loudly as she can, but Sebastian couldn't hear her. She saw him attacked Ikrur, but the demon dodges it like it was nothing. Ikrur caught Sebastian by the neck and lifted him off the ground.

"Damn! We need to hurry!" Dreige said, his gaze was fixated on Sebastian. Cassandra saw him struggle. She could feel her heart ripping into pieces while watching her mate suffer, unable to do something. She started crying and running like there's no tomorrow, but Cassandra felt he was getting farther and farther away.

"I need to make it. Please, let make it there!" Cassandra whispered while sobbing.

"Blood!" Cassandra yelled with all her might. She saw him flew straight to the ground, unmoving.

"No, no, no!" Cassandra hysterically said. "Ikrur!" a voice boomed in the battleground.

"It's nice seeing you again, Elijah," Ikrur said and smiled devilishly.
