Chapter 29: Chapter 29
Cassandra smiled as soon as she opened her eyes, but it instantly faded away, seeing the empty space beside her. Sebastian wasn't around anymore. She let out a sigh.
"So, this is it huh? We're back to ignoring each other," Cassandra sadly said. She got up on the bed, and like a zombie, she fixed herself and went to Academia.
"Good morning, pretty," Storm greeted her and smiled. Cassandra forced a smile. Storm instantly noticed this and asked if she was okay, and she answered 'yes.' They went to the room together, and Cassandra sat on her respective chair while Storm sat beside her to accompany her all throughout the class.
Cassandra saw Sebastian entered with Joana following closely behind him. Cassandra clenched her hand tightly when Joana kept kissing her mate's cheek. The two had brief eye contact, but it was Sebastian who first broke it. She whimpered silently.
The class started, but Cassandra wasn't listening to the lecturer in front; but instead, she watched Sebastian and Joana, who were affectionate to each other. She felt nauseous at the sight in front of her and wanted to throw up. Cassandra wants to punch them right in their face. She wants them to feel her pain.
"Don't look at them, Cassy," her wolf said, pain is evident in her soft voice. Her wolf's hurting; they were both hurtings.
"Please, Cassy doesn't look. I don't want you to get hurt anymore," her wolf said again. She must endure everything.
"You're strong, always remember that," Cassandra mentally said to herself.
"Just ten more minutes and you will not see them again in your next class," Storm said. Cassandra looked at him and sadly smile. She can't hold that long. She knows she can't because she really wants to kill Joana right now for suddenly kissing Sebastian in front of her. Joana looked at her and smiled evilly. Cassandra stood up and picked her bag. She went to the professor to get a slip going to the clinic. When the professor handed her the slip, she hurriedly walked away.
Cassandra knelt down while clutching her chest. She threw everything she ate on the toilet. She slumped on the floor and grabbed her hair. Cassandra felt really pathetic.
On the other hand, Sebastian was surprised by what his mate did. When he saw her hurriedly went out with a pained expression on her beautiful face, he wanted to thrash around. He was about to stand up and follow Cassandra but Joana stopped him. Sebastian glared at her, but Joana just motioned him to sit down again and listened because Elijah got an eye that watches their every move.
Sebastian didn't listen and insisted on following Cassandra. He went out even the professor kept calling his name. He wanted to find his mate immediately and tell her everything. Sebastian punched the wall and slumped on the tiled floor. He already lost her.
"Prince Sebastian, you need to go back to your class," Levi said. He was the man guarding them. He was under Elijah's care.
"Go back on your own," Sebastian firmly said. Levi stared at him.
"Council Elijah will know of this matter, Prince Sebastian," Levi said; he has already reported to Elijah. Sebastian remained silent and followed Levi back to the classroom.
Cassandra sat on the bed; her eyes were swollen due to excessively crying. She took her phone out and dialed her mother's number. After a few rings, her mother answered.
"Cassy, my child!" Cassandra's mother said. "Hello, Mom. I missed you," Cassandra said.
"I miss you too, baby girl," her mother replied, which made her rolled her eyes.
"Mom, I'm not a baby!" Cassandra said while pouting her lips where her mother couldn't see her. She heard her mother laughed in the other line. She sniffled because she really missed her family back in the North.
"Do you have a problem, my child?" her mother asked, sensing something was wrong with her daughter. Cassandra sighed.
"Nothing, Mom," Cassandra replied.
"Cassy, I'm your Mom and I know you," Candice said to her daughter. "I know something's wrong but if you don't want to say it, just always remember that I'm here for you, your Dad, and even your twin," she added.
"I know, Mom. I love you," Cassandra said and smiled. "Tell Dad and Blaze that I love them too. Bye, Mom, got to go," she said and ended the call. Cassandra felt at ease talking to her mother. She got up and opened the drawer beside her to put her phone when she notices a small journal. Cassandra took it out and sat on the bed once again, examining the journal.
"When did I put these in my drawer?" Cassandra mumbled. She slowly opened the journal.
Entry 1 December XXX
I am Helena, a vampire living in the palace. I'm one of the people that Queen Hildegarde trusts; she is also my friend. I wrote this because I could feel something's amiss going on at the palace.
I first notice the man that kept following Her Majesty wherever she goes. The man looks different. I could feel that he's dangerous, and I am worried about Her Majesty's safety. I don't know what I should do.
Cassandra was surprised to read that the journal belongs to Helena, and to think that she was one of the people who knew the Queen personally surprised her even more. Cassandra was about to cry again, remembering that Helena stayed and sacrificed her life for them to get away from Ikrur's armies. They owed Helena their life. Cassandra closed the journal and lay down until the sleep pulled her in.
