Chapter 48: Chapter 48

EPISODE 48: HAPPY ENDING OR NOT?

I saw him already dressed. My husband would surely go to the office. I wanted to approach him, but I did not have the strength to do it. I have no face to look at him, and I am ashamed of him especially, with Leonard’s brother, Ethan. For me, it was my fault that we lost our child. If I had just followed what Ethan told me. I would not have run over by the car. I am to blame for everything, but that is not what happened.

I could see that my husband seemed to blame himself. I feel it. Every night in our sleep, I wake up hearing my husband crying. He was crying in his dream. Apologizing to our son, and worst of all, he always spoke to it wishing that it should be him. He should be the one who disappears, which further causes pain in my heart that seems to be slowly crushing my heart into pieces. It comes to where I could no longer breathe.

For me, I am a useless wife. I couldn’t sleep every night while watching my husband suffering just because of my reckless action!

I felt him approaching me, so I went in front of the window and pretended to be looking outside, even though there was nothing good to be a look at it. I heard him letting me know that he was about to go to work, but I still pretended that I didn’t perceive him.

Even though I wanted to approach him, hug him, and tell him to take good care of himself but I wasn’t brave enough to do it. This day, I decided to leave the house to forget the pain I felt.

I pack all my things. The good thing was I only have a few things, so I smoothly ended up packing. It was still noon, and when I looked out the window, I saw Ethan coming out of the house.

I am about to go out when Leonard crosses my mind again. The happy memories we have. So I thought of writing a letter to Leonard before leaving. I talk a ballpen and paper out of his drawer. I immediately write all I want to tell him. How much I love him since the first time that I met him at our wedding ceremony. Also, the time I discovered the real him. That’s when the time that I even love him even more.

At least in the letter, I can tell what I truly feel about him with no hesitation. As I was writing what I wanted to say to him, I couldn’t stop my tears from dripping.

After a few minutes of writing and crying like crazy, I finally finished what I was writing. I folded the paper I had written on and put it on Leonard's desk with his ball pen on it.

I grabbed my suitcase and left the room. I continued walking until I reached the main door and opened it. I immediately went out the door. Before I closed the door, I uttered the words first, “Goodbye Leonard,” and immediately closed the door.

I looked around every corner. Afraid that one of Leonard's bodyguards would see me and will stop me. I meant to pack at lunchtime. I knew that; they were at the back of our house, but I was still careful not to be seen by them. Better to be sure.

When I was sure that everything was clear, I immediately went out of the gate at our house.

Leonard went to the police station. He wanted to make sure that he imprisoned his aunt. When he arrived at the police station, he saw it crying.

His aunt saw him as well, that’s why it stood up. Leonard approached his aunt. “Leonard, my dear, please, don’t put me in jail. Have mercy on me for the sake of your grandpa,”

Leonard’s head heats when his aunt uses his grandfather’s name, so he gets even angrier. “How dare you use grandpa’s name!!! Do you think I would pity you because of him? Never!!! So you will rot there in jail.” Leonard uttered, as it disgusted him with his aunt. Leaving the police station at the same time.

Leonard hurried to get into his car. He was excited because he wanted to tell Alyssa the great news. The person who hit her in the car got arrested. Now, Leonard can finally admit to her how much he loves her and that he wanted to start with her to be a real husband and wife, not just on paper, and to tell her that truth that he already tore apart their agreement before and it was void.

He felt nervous as he was sitting in his car. About a few minutes, he arrived at his house. He hurried out of his car and walked towards the door of his house. He continued walking until he reached in front of the door of their room.

He took a deep breath. Then, slowly, he opened the door. When he opened the door, his wife was no longer inside. “Alyssa, Alyssa!!! Where are you???” he shouted.

Leonard went into their walk-in closet just in case his wife was there dressing up, but when he opened it, it was empty. He went to their bathroom expecting that his wife was taking a bath, but it was not there. Leonard picked up his laptop that was lying on his desk. He looked at the footage on the CCTV camera that connected to it.

Leonard saw Alyssa come out of the house with a suitcase. He lay his laptop on the bed and sat on his bed as he covered his face with his enormous hands. He shed tears when he finally found out that his wife had left him.

He went to his desk again to put back his laptop to it when he saw a folded paper with a ball pen on top of it. He picked it up and looked at what it wrote, and he read it.

Dear Leonard,

Did you know that when the first time I saw you on the day of our wedding ceremony, I fall in love at first sight with you, and that’s when I told myself that I was still lucky even if it was just an arranged marriage because I love you as my groom? Especially when I discover the real you and the day you start liking me. I loved you even more. But I don’t dare to tell you how much I love you, especially that I am the reason that we lost our baby. But you never blame me at all. I felt guilty seeing you cry because of me.

I hope when I’m gone, you and your girlfriend will be back again. I will never forget you.

Loving you always,

Alyssa

His tears flowed even more at what he found out. He did not think that despite his shortcomings with his wife, his wife still worried about him and blame herself for what happened. While he fully imagined that his wife already hated him.

Suddenly, he again filled with hope. He promised himself that he would not stop until he could get his wife back by his side tonight. He hurried out of the room, straight to the main door, and immediately left the house.
