CHAPTER 49: THE BLESSING

Alyssa was already lying on her bed and about to sleep when suddenly her grandma knock on her door. Even though she was lazy to get up because of her incessant crying next to her grandma earlier. It still forced her to stand up.

She opened her door. “What is it, grandma?” she asked.

“You have a visitor.” Her grandma said.

She was wondering why she had a visitor when she never expects someone. “Who was it, grandma?” she asked.

Her grandma grabbed her and said, “Don’t ask anymore. Just come with me.” She did nothing but follow her.

When they arrived in the living room, her eyes widened at what she saw. Her heart suddenly beats so fast. As if she couldn’t move. Her grandmother motioned Leonard to come over to her and left the living room to give them space.

“W-What are you doing here?” she asked.

She couldn’t believe that Leonard would chase her. Leonard didn’t say a word at all. Instead, it approached her and hugged her so tight. It stunned her. “I love you, Alyssa. I truly am. Please don’t leave me, because if you will, I will be useless, Alyssa. Let’s start over again being a husband and wife. Not in the paper but the real thing.” Leonard confesses to Alyssa.

Alyssa burst into tears. She couldn’t believe she heard the word “I love you” from her husband’s mouth. “Was it for real? Am I not dreaming?” she uttered.

“Of course, it’s not a dream. It’s the real me, Alyssa.” Leonard responded.

Alyssa responded to her husband’s hug to prove that she wasn’t dreaming, and it’s true, she’s not dreaming at all. She was so happy.

After they hugged, they talked intensely. Leonard convinced his wife to go home to their house. But because of sudden rain, they spent the night at Alyssa’s grandmother’s house.

They are both in the bedroom and ready to sleep shoulder to shoulder. When suddenly Leonard uttered Alyssa’s name. “Alyssa,”

Alyssa turned to Leonard and looked him in the eye. “Yes?” she asked.

It surprised her when suddenly Leonard kissed her on the lips. It continued to kiss her, so she closed her eyes and responded to its kisses, and tonight they shared their sweet love again.

Two years had passed.

Elena already accepted to herself that her father will never really acknowledge her, so she went abroad to start over while she left her daughter temporarily to her mother.

Leonard and Alyssa are with her. They wanted to witness Elena’s departure. After all, that happened, Elena’s former rival has now become her best friend. “Bestie, promise me you won’t forget me, okay? When you get there, call me. What if you meet another friend there and you will forget me?” Alyssa said.

Elena laughed at what Alyssa said. For her, it’s like a child when it thinks. “What are you talking about? That would never happen. You’re the only one and always well.” Elena replied, and they immediately embraced each other.

“Go ahead, you go inside now. It was already your flight.” Leonard reminded Elena.

Elena let go of Alyssa’s embrace and went inside while waving at Alyssa. Then Alyssa and Leonard left the airport immediately.

After a few hours, they finally got home. As soon as they entered the house, they were instantly greeted by the aroma of Ethan’s cooking.

Alyssa felt hungry. She dragged her husband to the kitchen. “Babe, wait…,” Leonard uttered.

“Hurry, I’m hungry,” Alyssa commanded.

Leonard did nothing but follow his wife. When they got to the kitchen, they saw Ethan busy cooking. “Hm, the smell is pleasant. Is that almost done?” she asked Ethan.

Ethan turned to them and smiled. “Yeah, it’s almost done.”

“Yay,” Alyssa said.

Alyssa immediately sat down in the dining. She was ready for it. The food Ethan had cooked already finished, so Ethan put it on the table.

Finally, they are ready for it. Alyssa immediately ate one of her favorite foods when she suddenly felt nauseous. She wonders why she can’t bear it when it was her favorite food.

She tried to eat it again, but she was sick of it. Leonard and Ethan looked at each other. Wondering why Alyssa is sick. Leonard stands up from where he seat and approached Alyssa. “Let’s go upstairs first so that you can relax. You might be exhausted from the trip.” He said to his wife.

“Okay,” Elena agreed.

They immediately went upstairs to let Alyssa rest. When Alyssa came to the bedroom, she then lay down on the bed. Just a few seconds have passed it is instantly asleep.

Early in the morning, Alyssa woke up first. She watches her handsome husband sleeping. Suddenly Alyssa was nauseous again. She hurriedly went to the bathroom to vomit. She seems to have felt terrible.

She went back and forth to the bathroom as her feeling of being nauseous had never gone until Leonard woke up. Leonard could hear Alyssa vomiting because the door hadn’t been closed.

He felt worried about his wife. He approached her. “Are you okay?” he asked her.

“I’m not okay,” Alyssa replied.

“Do you want us to go to the doctor now?” Leonard offered.

“But what about your work? I’m sure you have a lot of work to do. Especially now it’s Monday.” Alyssa responded worriedly.

“Don’t worry about my work. Remember, I’m the boss there, and your health is my top priority.” Leonard answered.

“Okay,” Alyssa agreed.

They immediately went to the hospital for a checkup. The doctor ran many tests on Alyssa. They wait for almost 2 hours until the result will arrive.

The doctor checks the result. “How is it, doc.? Was there something wrong with me?” she asked, worried.

The doctor smiled at her. “You need not worry. It's good news.” The doctor said.

“G-Good news? What do you mean by that doc.?” Alyssa asked nervously.

“Your pregnant Mrs. Lee, congratulations!!!”

The entire world seemed to stop for Alyssa when she found out that she was pregnant. She no longer expects to get pregnant from the day a car hit her and got miscarriage the chances of her getting pregnant were slim because of the force of the impact of her accident.

Leonard accepted it wholeheartedly that they might never have their child. Alyssa’s tears flowed. “Thank you, doc.,” she said.

The doctor replied with a nod.

Alyssa’s mind was still floating as she walks out the door of her doctor’s office. Leonard saw Alyssa, dumbfounded. Leonard wondered why his wife seemed in a daze and seemed about to cry. He felt worried about it. He approached her. “Babe, what is wrong?”

“Babe, boohoo, boohoo, boohoo!!!” Alyssa cried like a child.

Leonard was even more worried. “Babe, will you please calm down? What is the result? Are you sick?” Leonard asked.

“Babe, I’m pregnant, boohoo…!!! Heaven has finally heard our long-standing request to him! Boohoo…!!!” Alyssa cried.

Leonard's time seems freezing that moment about the good news his wife had told him. He could not believe that this day had come. There was no denying the happiness he felt. He hugged his wife tightly as he utters this word, “Lord, thank you! Babe, I love you!!! I love you so much!!!”

It overjoyed Alyssa with what her husband said. She hugged him back. The first day she saw him suddenly flashback in her mind. It’s the day of their wedding where she first fell in love with him. Alyssa smiled to herself as she reminisced it.

She can’t believe that a former so-called “The Unwanted Marriage” has now become the most promising relationship.
