CHAPTER 39: LEONARD'S CHOICE

Leonard was stunned by what his brother said, but he was not able to counteract it. Everything he said was correct. He had to decide which of the two he should choose.

He knew it wasn't easy because one of them would get hurt, but it would be better for him to do it today before everyone gets caught, but before he could make his plan for today, he called his girlfriend Elena again to let her know that he would accompany her to the hospital. He lifted his right hand, holding his cellphone near to his face just as he could see the letters on it. He redialed his girlfriend's number and started calling it. "Ring, ring, ring…!" The phone in the other line rang.

"Hello," the woman in the other line answered.

"Wait for me; I'll go with you today," Leonard said.

Then he turned off the call.

He stood up on his seat, walks towards the direction of his walk-in closet. Then he picked up his coat hanging on a gold hook next to the door of his walk-in closet. He immediately put it on in his sleek body and hurried out of the room. When he reached the stairs, he saw Ethan and his wife coming out of the house, so he didn't go down.

He didn't want to see his wife's disappointed face. While watching them from afar, he did not expect tears to fall on his eyes while clenching his two hands as his wife walk away with his brother. When the living room closed, he slammed the handrail because of the annoyance he felt with himself.

When he calmed down, he went downstairs to visit his girlfriend, Elena. She is also pregnant, and she wants him to accompany her to the doctor. What surprised him was that they had already done his girlfriend's schedule for a check-up the other day, that's why he decided to accompany Alyssa, but she suddenly called, acting up that she's not feeling well, and demanded him to accompany her in the clinic.

Whatever he explained to her. That he couldn't be with her because he had to be with Alyssa, even just for today, but all she did was throw tantrums towards him, acting like a child. She is very unreasonable! Sometimes, he asked himself how he stayed his girlfriend's previously ludicrous habit and why he has only now realized its actual behavior.

He hurried out of the house, and when he was already outside, he hurriedly got in his car and made it run. About a few minutes, he arrived at her condo, and he immediately went to her unit. He was already in front of her condo unit, so he immediately opened it.

When he opened the door, he saw Elena already wearing a printed off-shoulder dress that dropped above the knee. At the same time, she slung her black leather cross-body bag on her right shoulder and paired it with black high-heeled shoes.

As he watched his girlfriend, he became even more annoyed with her. He felt that she wants to abort their child and that she doesn't care about the child. She already knew that her pregnancy was delicate, but she still dares to wear high heels even though she was in the first semester of her pregnancy. "Is our baby worthless to you? That is why it's easy for you to say that you're going to abort it?" he said furiously to his girlfriend.

"What's wrong with you? Why are you suddenly angry? Was it because I ruined your date with your fake wife?" his girlfriend yells at him.

"Does your brain so dirty? Why did this conversation point to Alyssa again? That Alyssa who did nothing but to understand me? You're so childish! You're so unreasonable!" he yelled back at her.

"Boohoo, boohoo, boohoo…! You never really understand me at all! You knew that I'm pregnant and that my mood swings, but still you yelled at me?" a crying response of his girlfriend.

He knew it was acting again, but he also didn't want to stress it out; it might end up getting a miscarriage, so he did nothing but approach his crying girlfriend and hug her. "I'm sorry if I got mad, okay, but please, don't accuse someone who has done nothing wrong." He said in a low voice. Then Elena replied by nodding.

Leonard and Elena were already at the clinic when Leonard saw Ethan and Alyssa coming out of the hospital. He quickly pulled his girlfriend towards him, turned around with her, and then hugged her in no time so that Alyssa could not see them. He presses Elena's face in his chest as he turned his head towards them, watching the two walking out of the building.

In his mind, he says, that he would have been with her if only his girlfriend Elena hadn't just acted like a child earlier, so he can't do anything but just clenched his hands.

"Ouch, you're hurting my head Leonard, what the hell was wrong with you!" his girlfriend exclaimed.

"Sorry, I-I thought someone would bump you, I-I'm just protective here," he lied to her as he stuttered while speaking.

"Is that so?" Elena asked incredulously.

"Y-yes," he said.

"Oh, okay, let's go?" his girlfriend said, and they immediately walked over to Elena's doctor.

They have already arrived at the room of Elena's doctor, and since Elena was a V.I.P, she's no need to fall in line. Immediately the secretary of her doctor ushered them inside.

"Good morning, Doc.," Leonard greets the doctor.

"Good morning," the doctor replied. "By the way, what's the problem?" the doctor asked.

"My stomach hurts, Doc.," Elena complained.

"Okay, please come inside in the ultrasound room. Let me check it." The doctor said.

Elena went to the ultrasound room while Leonard was left in the consultation room waiting. About a few minutes, at last, Elena and her doctor went out of the room. The doctor went back to her seats as well as Elena. Then the doctor immediately explained to them that the baby was just fine and there's no need to worry about it.

Leonard was happy because of the good news the doctor told the two of them. But he suddenly felt depressed when he remembered his wife, so it further developed his decision to end it all today.
