CHAPTER 35: HE ACCEPTS HER

Ethan took a deep breath before answering his older brother. “Alyssa is pregnant.”

Leonard’s eyes widened at what his brother said. He couldn’t believe it. He was feeling like he was dreaming. He swallowed his saliva several times before he could speak. “W-What did you say? S-She is pregnant?” he asked stuttered as he pointed Alyssa using his finger.

Leonard looked at Alyssa. He observes her actions and reactions. Leonard noticed it was very anxious and forced herself not to burst into tears, so Leonard was even more convinced that his brother had confessed was true. He approached his wife to ask her personally.

He wanted to hear the truth from his wife. “Alyssa, is it true? Are you pregnant?” he asked her with sincerity and confusion.

His wife’s tears flowed. “Y-Yes, I am, I’m sorry, I didn’t expect this to happen. I-If you think that I planned all of this, don’t you worry, I will not force you to be responsible for this!”

He was stunned that he found out the fact. He didn’t know if he would be happy. After all, he would finally be a father or worried because he didn’t know how to explain to his girlfriend that he got his wife pregnant, but this is his baby. He knew his blood was flowing on it, and he was sure in himself that he was the father because every time something happened to them, Leonard admitted that Leonard didn’t use protection, so he was responsible for it.

He touched his wife’s shoulder and said, “Don’t cry anymore. It’s not your fault. We both want it, and both of us have a responsibility to it, so don’t worry, I’m not mad at all.” At the same time, hug the crying wife.

Ethan felt out of place in the scene where the couple takes place. His heart seemed to pound as he watches the two hug each other.

He already knew in himself that his chances to Alyssa are vague, so he just let them and decided to leave the room to let the couple have an in-depth talk.

Leonard already let go of his hand that was hugging his wife. “How is the baby?” Leonard asked with concern.

“It’s fine, the doctor said; I just really need to take a rest,” she answered.

“That’s good to hear,” Leonard responded.

“Go back to bed now. I’ll prepare the food that Ethan cooked for you to fill your empty stomach.” Leonard added.

Alyssa nodded and went back to bed. Leonard, on the other hand, stepped in the direction where he had placed the food. He took the soup first and fed it to his wife.

Alyssa hesitated whether to open her mouth or not. She is not used to being served by her husband. “Oh, why don’t your mouth open? Don’t you like it? Do you want me to order food for you? What do you want?” Leonard asked, wondered.

“Oh, no, it’s not like that. I’m just not used to being feed. Just give me that bowl so I can eat myself.” She lied as she responded to her husband. She is ashamed of him.

“Oh, is that so? Okay, go ahead. Do it yourself, and I’ll watch you eat until you’re finished.” He said, simultaneously giving the bowl with soup to his wife.

Alyssa reached for the bowl, and she began to pour the food into her mouth. As she sipped the soup, Leonard watched her. She was a little embarrassed with every bite she had.

She couldn’t concentrate on what she ate. She glanced at it, but it was still staring at her, so she blushed even more.

Her husband noticed that her cheeks turned red, so it reaches out its hand in the direction of her reddened face. “Why is your face blushed? Are you not feeling well? Wait for her, and I’ll get a thermometer.”

Leonard was about to get up from his seat when Alyssa stop him. “Wait,” she holds his shirt. Leonard furrowed, “What?” he asked her wondered why she stopped him.

“I’m okay; I don’t have a fever at all. No need to check my temperature.” She answered, still holding his shirt.

“Are you sure?” he asked him hesitantly.

“Yeah, I am,” she answered.

“Oh, okay, go ahead and finish what you ate.” He said.

Alyssa nodded and continued eating. Leonard just stared at her until she finished eating. Leonard then went out to their room to return the empty tray to the kitchen.

Alyssa left inside the room. She smiled as she thought about what happened today. Alyssa never thought that the outcome is good. She wished that it would last. She touched her stomach as she said these words, “Baby, thank you for coming into my life. You are a blessing to me.”

Leonard was in the kitchen when someone called on his cellphone. He quickly took it out of his pocket to answer. He looked at who it was. It was his grandpa. He wondered why it calls.

He tried to recall if he did something wrong again, but he could think nothing, so Leonard thought maybe his grandpa would ask for a favor. He already had memorized the behavior of his grandpa.

He knew that there are only two reasons if it will call. It’s either he did something wrong, or it would ask for a favor. He answered it immediately. “Hello, grandpa, why did you call? Is there something wrong?”

“How’s Alyssa? How’s the baby? I’ve heard she was rushed to the hospital earlier. I’m sorry, my child if I didn’t go into the hospital. I’m on the Island now, on vacation with your aunt,” his grandpa said, worried.

He could not speak to what his grandfather had said. He wondered why the news flew so fast. He couldn’t imagine how his grandfather found out that his wife rushed to the hospital and that she was pregnant? When he knew only Ethan and his bodyguards knew the truth, but he knew his brother, It is not his habit to precede onto him.

“Leonard? Are you still there? Why aren’t you answering?” His grandpa asked, astonished.

“Hmm, y-yes grandpa, I’m still here. Anyway, who told you?” he asked.

“You’re aunt told me. One of her friends saw you in the hospital. She was concerned about you and your soon-to-be mother of your child, so she immediately informs me to confirm the truth from you.” His grandpa answered.

“Oh, okay, hmm, grandpa, I’d better go. I need to feed Alyssa now.” He lied to his grandpa to end the conversation.

“Oh, okay, grandson, I’m sorry if I disturbed the both of you. Just call me anything you want, okay?”

“Okay, grandpa, thanks,” and then he dropped the call.

He is even more infuriated by the interference of his aunt in his personal life, so he became more determined to crush the life of his aunt.
