CHAPTER 33: ALYSSA IS HOME

Leonard hurriedly stepped closer to Elena's condo. She was crying when she called him. He was already in front of it, and he immediately opened it.

When he had already opened it, he saw Elena sitting in the dining chair with food, drinks, and candlelight ready on the table.

"Surprised," Elena grinned as she said.

Leonard frowned at what he discovered. He couldn't believe he left his wife confined to the hospital to give in to his girlfriend's unsubstantiated complaint.

Elena noticed that her boyfriend didn't seem happy with the surprise she prepared. She felt sad. "Why do you seem mad? Aren't you happy that I surprised you? I'm making an effort for you, but you don't seem to appreciate it anymore." She said in disappointment.

Leonard doesn't know how to explain to his girlfriend why he's not in the mood, but he knows whatever explanation he gives to her, she won't believe either because what's on her mind is just what she think, and Leonard doesn't want it to be the source of their quarrel again. He sighed.

"What? Why can't you speak?" Elena asked again, but now her voice was a bit loud.

Leonard knew she was mad again. "Babe, can you calm down first? I'm sorry if you feel like I'm not in the mood. I'm a little tired now because I've been in a meeting earlier and I'm the presenter, so please understand, okay?" he pleads.

Elena knew that Leonard was lying to her. His secretary called that her boss went to the hospital because his wife rushed on it but she no longer made it a big deal.

She was happy because she thought that she won over to his wife. Leonard chose to go to her rather than refuse. Now she knows in herself that whatever she says to her boyfriend is his priority.

She pretends she understands. "Okay, I understand, so, let's eat?" she asked Leonard, smiling ear to ear.

Leonard didn't want to show that he was problematic, so he was forced to smile back at her. "Okay, let's eat," he responded to her, and then he approached her and sat opposite her.

They both started eating. Leonard did not say a word while eating. In his mind, he wanted to go back to the hospital. In contrast, Elena was observing her boyfriend.

She noticed it was a bit tense. She decided to open up a conversation. "How's the meeting?" she asked.

Leonard stopped eating and looked at her, "Just fine," he answered.

He resumed eating. "Do you have a new project?" Elena asked again.

Leonard paused, eating again, and looked at her. "Yeah," he sparingly replied and proceeded with what he was eating. Elena saw that Leonard seemed to be in a hurry as Leonard chew his food. She could sense that he would leave, so she immediately poured wine into his glass to not refuse.

Leonard looked at his girlfriend. He can tell that his girlfriend intentionally wants him to stay in her condo for a while. What he did was he immediately drank the wine in one go. "Babe, I'm sorry, but I have to go. Let's meet next time. I promise I'll treat you to dinner, okay," he said at once; he bent his body towards her and kissed her in the cheeks.

Elena was speechless. Leonard immediately came out of the room and immediately got into his car. He turned it on and made it run a full speed. He is going back to the hospital.

When his phone suddenly rang. He answered it. "Hello,"

"Don't go to the hospital anymore. I already brought your wife home." Ethan said he was on the other line.

His pride seemed to have touched. He was supposed to take his wife home but has preceded by his brother, who he knew had feelings for his wife. Even though he was annoyed, he just thanked him. "Okay, thanks," then he dropped the call.

He pulled his steering wheel at the side of the road and stopped his car. Then he hits the steering wheel on his car because of the annoyance he feels to himself.

When he was relieved of his annoyance, he drove his car again into their house.

Elena was left irritated. For the second time, her boyfriend left her again because of his wife. It's been a month since they met because he is busy with his company, and they already have a chance with each other; he left her again, so her anger at her boyfriend's wife flared up even more. "Get ready, woman, soon enough, I can find a way to get you out of our way!" she said, as her hands clenched in anger.

She was standing beside the side table. She looked at the table and picked up her cellphone on top, and called someone. "Hello," a man on the other line answered.

"Make me happy tonight," Elena said to the man.

"Okay, I'll be there right away." The man responded.

Elena smirked at the man's answer and then dropped the call.

Alyssa was lying in their room while rubbing her head which is still hurting. It was the effect of her falling into their classroom when she fainted. Someone knocked on their bedroom door. She didn't lock the room, so she didn't get up and just waited for the one who knocks to come in.

It was Ethan. He was carrying a bowl of soup, sliced apples and oranges, and a glass of water.

Alyssa was about to get up from the bed when Ethan said, "Oops, Don't get up on your own. Just wait for me, I'll help you,"

Alyssa nodded to him. He stepped towards the small table beside the bedroom and placed the food on top of it. Ethan had already put the food on the table. He stepped again in Alyssa's direction and helped her up.

"Thank you," Alyssa thanked Ethan.

Ethan smiled at Alyssa and said, "My pleasure,"

Ethan took the bowl with soup and gave it to Alyssa.

She immediately ate what Ethan had prepared until she had finished everything. Then Ethan came out of the room carrying the empty tray.
