Chloe Montclair

"Hmmm." I hummed.

"Okay, let's forget about that for now. Chloe, what do you intend to do about that loser and your sister?."

"We've been working on that and you know it too. His company's profit has been going down ever since I made the same production as his but reduced the price. So I heard from my assistant."

"Yes, exactly! I'm aware of that too."

"So, now... I intend to meet him and, make him betray his wife."

"I don't get you."

"His assistant asked for a meeting. I'm meeting with him I think, next week Thursday. I'm ready to do whatever it takes to ruin their relationship."

"What are you talking about, Chloe? Ruin the relationship? Isn't the initial plan for you to make his company run down and when he's hopeless, you come into the picture and make sure to buy the largest share of the company which would practically make you the owner of the company? Is that not what we both agreed on?."

"I know and I'm still not changing my plan but, it's a great benefit for me since, he was the one who set up the meeting between us and, I see this as my chance. I'm going to pay them in the taste of their coin, Tiana. I will make him forget about Janet and then, get my revenge on him when he's all alone and no one is there to support him."

"You think, that's the right decision to take? What if, you get hurt in the process? Look, Chloe... I will just advise you to go with the initial plan. I'm scared for you."

"Don't be, I will be fine. Everything is going to be fine, trust me." I replied her and Stanley walked in. She drop what she bring to us and left. We chatted for a while and slowly, she slept off.

I look at her and shook my head. She was so eager to make me take my drugs earlier and now, she slept off without having a thought about the drugs.

I took my drugs and slept off too right after.

Next Morning

Tiana just left home to her mom's house and the truth is, I'm going to miss her. She's right, she's not the only one who will miss me but I will... I'm doing that already. I've always spent my time, and day with her and I'm used to her. The house feels quiet and strange today. Maybe, it's because of Tiana absence.

I got up and opened my laptop. My assistant phoned me earlier this morning and told me I need to sign some documents through my emails. I also have tons of emails I haven't reviewed and replied to them.

I'm doing all of that now.

But before I could log into my emails, my phone started to ring.

It's a strange number and I've never seen this number before. "Hello." I said as I pick up the call.

"Hey Vivian, how are you?." This voice sounds familiar... Ken's mom?

"Mrs. Domanco?." I cat help but to ask.

"Haven't I warned you not to call me that? Call me mom instead." She scolds me.

"I'm... I'm sorry. It's just that, I had no idea it was you who had called me, and also, I just need to be sure." I replied to her in a careful tone.

"It's fine. I only called to ask about your health. So, how are you feeling now? Tell me, did Ken get you the drugs? I hope, you're not feeling any pain anymore. Or, do we need to go to the hospital for a proper treatment? What do you think?." She bombards me with tons of questions.

"No, mom. You don't have to stress yourself. I'm perfectly okay, believe me. And yes, Ken got me the drugs already, thank you."

"That's good. Exactly what I intend to hear from you." And before I could reply to her, I heard a sound coming from the entrance of my house.

Stanley is not around. She went to the supermarket to get some little foodstuffs.

I got up from my bed and walk slowly towards the living room. "Vivian, are you there?." Her voice made me realize I'm still on call with her.

"Yes, mom. I'm sorry. I heard a sound, it seems someone is here to see me. I'm trying to go check who that's."

"Oh, it's fine then. You can go ahead. Plus, Kate asked after you this morning while I spoke with her. I told her I'm going to give her feedback after talking to you. I'm glad, you're okay now."

"Yes, mom. I'm fi-" I stopped in my mid-sentence as I opened the door and saw Janet standing right in front of me with two white nylon bags in her hands. I have no idea what's inside there though. That, shouldn't be a problem for now, what I don't understand is, what's she doing here and with that look on her face?

"Chloe, are you fine?."

"Janet?." Both mom and I said at the same time.

"Janet is there with you?." She asked me.

"Yes, mom. She's the person I told you was ringing the doorbell."

"Perfect! Pass her the phone." She said.

"Aren't you going to invite me in or, you're going to stand there all day and stare at me?." She questioned me.

"Sorry " I apologized and made way for her to come into the house. "Here, mom wants to talk to you." I pass her the phone and she took it from me before placing it on her right ear.

"Aunt." I heard her say.

They both talk for a while while I stood there staring at her like a zombie that was about to eat her up. What's she doing here?- I thought.

She passes the phone to me. "Vivian, take good care of yourself, please. Always make sure, you take your drugs on time and go for a check too... It's very important. From there, you can know the status of your health."

"Okay mom, I will. Thank you ma."

"Okay, dear. I will still call you, later on, to check up on you."

"Okay mom, bye."

"Okay, bye." She hang up the call but, I still couldn't find it in me to start a conversation with her.

"I believe, you're not going to stand there and stare at me all through the day. Come on, have a sit... We have lots to talk about." She said and took her sit whilst she offered me a sit too.

Excuse me, young lady. This house belongs to me and not you- I wanted to say that to her but decide to keep my mouth shut.

I don't know what this lady is up to now. Is she here to threaten me? Or, she's here to warn me to stay away from her brother and family. Considering what Tiana told me about her yesterday, she might do any of the two since she now hates me for lying and deceiving her family.

I gently took a sit across her and waited for her outburst but, that didn't happen. Instead, she got up from where she was sitting and took a sit right beside me before engulfing me in a tight hug. I sat there shocked. What's she doing right now? I tried to break the hug but she held me tightly. "stay put you silly girl." She hissed and smack my back. A minute or so later, she broke the hug and have a huge smile on her face.

"Ken told me everything. Everything single part of your story, he told me everything. I can't believe it, I've always hated you when you haven't done anything wrong. I hate myself yesterday and also had to cry when I remembered all that he told me about you. I can't... I can't believe you had to go through all those pains because of what your sister did. Look, I'm in support of your revenge against them. Do not let them go scot-free, I'm here to support you on anything. I'm so sorry Chloe, please forgive me for saying things I'm not supposed to say out to you yesterday, I was only upset because I thought you deceived my family... And, finding out that you're the Chloe whom, everyone hates for killing her mother, ruined things more. I'm so sorry for misunderstanding you. I promise it won't repeat itself. I don't know what else to say but for now, this is all I can say." She finished talking while I, on the other hand, couldn't move nor say a word.

My eyes are only fixed on her sync lip that won't stop moving.

"Hey! Say something, please. You're scaring me with this look on your face. I know you feel disappointed but, I've come to apologize to you. Please Chloe, forgive me. And I promise not to say a word to anyone, not only that, I'm ready to support you get back what rightfully belongs to you. Please, just say something and stop looking at me in such a way... You're scaring me." She complained.

I sighed. "The truth is, I have no idea of what to say. I wasn't expecting to see this side of you, not especially this morning. You were so mad at me yesterday and now, you've changed. I... it's just... It's just that, I'm surprised.. that's all."

"Don't be. I know, I said things out of anger yesterday but, it wasn't my fault and I apologized for that. Now, I know the real truth and I'm not going to judge you. At least, say something to me and I will be happy that you're no longer upset at me."

"Okay. I don't know how to put this down to you but, thank you so much for trusting me and, for not hating me. But, I've heard that you hate lies and deceit. Won't you feel bad for lying to your family about me?." I question her.

"Do you, want me to tell them about the real you? " She questioned me back.

"Not really but, I heard you don't-"

"Yes, I don't do that but, I will be starting that on you. Look, Chloe... I really like you. I like your personality and also, I like you for my brother. Believe me, when I say, he has changed recently and, that's all because of you. I noticed, he doesn't bed girls now like how he used to and I'm positive, it's all because of you. I do not want you out of his sight despite, it's all fake but, I know... He's in safe hands being with you. Just promise me one thing."

"What's that?."

"Promise me you'll always be there for him. Promise me, you won't leave him and stay loyal to him."

I gave out a nervous laugh. "Janet, you seem to be forgetting something. Ken and I are not in any serious relationship. You heard it yesterday, right? He only paid me to act as his girlfriend, Ken and I don't have a real and strong relationship between us."

What's wrong with her though?
