Chapter 40: Chapter 40

Chloe Montclair

Before she could close her room door, I stopped her, she took a glance at me and walk over to her bed and lay down acting like I'm not here.

Brat!

"Avoiding me is not going to solve anything. Talk to me, shout at me and ask me questions. You're not even ready to listen to me. At least, hear me out first." I complained in a frustrated tone. Yet, no word came out from her.

"Christiana! Christiana please, talk to me." I tried making her sit up but she end up yanking my hand off hers.

"Chloe please, I'm not in the mood right now. Can you at least leave my room?."

"Really? Leave your room. It's now your room?."

"Oh! Are you reminding me now that this house belongs to you and no longer 'ours' anymore?." She questioned.

"W.. wh.. what?!! Tiana! You know that's not what I meant to say. Why are you misinterpreting my words?."

"Chloe, kindly leave my room please."

"Stop being childish! Talk to me and let's fix this. I know you're upset at me right now and a lot is on your mind. Just talk to me about what's on your mind."

"What do you want me to say? That my friend hid the truth about myself from me? What do you take me for? An idiot who does anything for herself? I... I can't believe..." She trailed off and scoff. "I can't believe you've been lying to me all this while. My friend knows who I'm but I had no idea about me. You knew that it was my uncle who tried to kill my mom, not her only but, he also killed my father too. My father was one of the richest business men in this country and yet, I never know that."

"Tiana, how.. how did you know that?." I asked.

She sighed and tap a sit beside her on the bed nudging me to take my seat.  I mentally smiled and did as I was told. "Mom told me everything" She started.

"She knows that your father was killed by your uncle too?"

"And what about her, did she know that he was the one who tried to kill her?."

"She's not positive yet but, she's been suspecting him all along. She told me everything I need to know. How, she and my father fell in love with each other but, my Dad's parents disapprove of their relationship because of my mom. My mom got pregnant for him but, she hid the truth from him and ran away without any trace."

"The day my Dad found and learned about mom had a child for him, the day we were supposed to meet me was the day he met with an accident and died. He killed him! My uncle killed him because of my father's wealth. He knew, my dad was going to favor both my mom and me, and instead, he decided to kill him. I won't forgive him, Chloe. I will never forgive him. He will pay for what he did to my parents and me."

"It's okay... I'm here for you. I'm here to support you so please, do not cry." I said before wiping off her tears.

She looked at me for a while before shoving my hands off her face. "Don't touch me! I'm still upset at you." She hissed and frowned at me.

"Come on, Tiana. I said I'm sorry. Believe me, I never intend to hide the truth from you but, I do not know how you're going to take the news. Besides, I had no idea that your mom is still alive. I never wanted to burden you with your uncle's issue and that's why I decide not to inform you about him."

"But, you intend to burden yourself because of my problems? We made a promise, didn't we? Whatever happens, we'll always be there for each other."

"And that's exactly what I've been doing! You know that." I said.

"I'm not done talking, you crazy woman!" She hissed and rolled her eyes again at me.

"Sorry." I mumbled and smiled.

"We promised not to hide anything from each other. No matter what it's, we promised to say it out and find a solution together so, why are you hiding my problems from me? Burdening yourself instead? Why is that so?."

"Your problem is not a burden to me, Tiana. Have you forgotten, that you're like a sister to me? The least I could do is to help you. Okay, I agreed that I was wrong for hiding things from you and I'm sorry for that. Just forgive me and forget about it. I promise not to do anything as such ever again. I will always tell you whatever I know and you'll be the first person to know."

"You promise?."

"Cross my heart."

"Come here." She opened her arms widely for me and I wrap my hands around her before hugging her tightly.

Just an hour of argument with her and I wasn't myself anymore. Only God knows what would have happened if it were to be more than this. "I'm sorry too for saying things I didn't mean. I was only mad at you, that's all."

"Of course, I know that. You have every right to say anything to me. After all, I was at fault." We broke the hug and both sighed at the same time. "So, what brought you home? I thought you were to spend the night at Mom's place. How comes you're here with Janet." I added.

"Talking about Janet, don't you think... We need to do something about her before she exposes you to her parents and family?."

"Huh? Do something?." I asked confused.

"Look, I've known Janet for a very long time ever since we were kids. She hates lies or keeping things from her family. She detests lies more than any other thing... So, we need to do something. If she tells them the truth about you then, you're finished!"

So, that explains why she was so upset earlier. It's because she was upset at me for lying to her. She wasn't mad because she found out I'm the real Chloe and not Vivian I claim to be. She was upset for lying and playing with her family's feelings.

"Hey! What are you thinking? Say something." Tiana worried voice brought me out again from my thought.

"What do I do? If they find out the truth about me then, it's fine. It means, Ken will have to find another girl who will act as his fake girlfriend and I will concentrate more on my revenge."

"Can you hear yourself? Do you think it's that easy? I'm telling you to find a way now but you're saying something else."

"Okay, let's forget about her for now. We will talk about her later on before we go to bed but you, why didn't you spend the night at mom's place?."

"I don't understand you, Chloe. Tell me, you don't want me back home again because I don't understand why you keep on insisting on why I didn't spend the night at mom's place." She said rolling her eyes.

"Oh come on, don't give me that. You know, I have all the right to ask you. This was not what we discussed earlier when you called me."

"I know right? Mom told me to come home and not to spend the night with her. I, Janet, and you were supposed to pass the night here but... Things kinda changed and now, it's been ruined."

"But why did she ask you guys to spend the night here? At least, there must be a reason for that?."

"How am I supposed to know that, Chloe Montclair! She only told me to spend the night here and that's all so, stop asking me questions and let's talk about how to set things right. Your loose mouth has finally landed you into trouble tonight." She said rolling her eyes.

Why do I have this feeling that she's not telling me the exact truth about what transpired at her mom's place?

"So, what do we do?."

"Seriously, I have no idea at all. And, haven't I told you not to bother yourself about the situation? Whatever happens, I'm going to accept it as my fate."

"You think so?."

"I know so. So, let's talk about you and your mom. How was it? How did she act when she saw you for the first time? I can't believe that arrogant man knows that your mom is still alive and hid it from you." I hissed.

"Hey! It's fine okay? He apologized to me already." She said smiling.

"What?!!! Who apologized to you? Kenneth Domanco? Apologized to who?."

"To me, of course!"
