Chloe Montclair

I do not know what came over me. All I could think of was just to land my palm on his cheek and now, I regret it.

He was just as shocked as I was even though, he didn't look upset. I don't know why he looks so calm despite everything I've done. Isn't he supposed to be mad at me for slapping him?

"I-" I was ready to apologize to him and tell him I didn't mean to do that but, my room door burst open and Tiana and Janet both walked in.

The look on their faces isn't friendly too. Janet looked shocked while Tiana looked upset.

Why are they both here? I thought she was supposed to spend the whole day with her mom.

The look on her face says it all, I think... She heard some part of the conversation between Ken and me.

"Tiana, I can explain." I started. "It's not what you think, I mean-"

"You're Chloe Montclair?." Janet's voice cut me off. Before I could reply to her, Ken asked.

"What are you doing here?."

"That, isn't the problem now, Ken." She answered him before facing me. "Answer me, you're not Vivian but Chloe? The same Chloe who killed her mother?."

"I did not kill my mother! I wasn't the one who murdered her! I was framed."

She scoff. "And you expect me to believe that?."

"You have to believe me, I'm not a bad person."

"How do I know that? You've tricked every one of us. You lied to us and made us believe you're someone else. My mom, Aunt, and uncle loved you but, you choose to betray us and you expect me to believe you? So, you two weren't in love with each other, you paid her to become your fake girlfriend. You deceived our parents." Janet said to her brother in a disappointed tone.

"This is none of your business! Whatever I do or however I love my life, is non of your business. Stay out of it and I will do my things my way and you have no right to butt into it."

"Really? So, it has come to that Ken? I no longer mean anything to you. I'm nothing but a piece of trash. I was only after the well-being of my brother and now, I'm being blamed for it. I'm sorry for butting into your business, it's your life matter after all plus, we're not related by blood so... It's fine. Thank you for making me realize my place in your life." She said sadly and walk out of the room.

"What are you doing? Go after her." I scolded him but he wouldn't budge.

How can he allow her leave just like that without saying a word to her or trying to persuade her? She's hurt for goodness sake, can't he see that?

I look at Tiana who still has that upset and disappointed look on her face.

I'm going to come back for her later- I thought before running out of the room to go after Janet.

So close.

Just as she was about to go out through the main door of my house, I stopped her. "Wait, Janet."

"What?." She spat at me. "What's it that you want from me?." She asked me again as she turned around to face me.

"Janet, please... At least, allow me to explain myself to you." I said as I tried to move closer to her but she stopped me in a harsh tone.

"Don't you dare come closer to me. You liar!"

"Why are out trying so hard? Why are you pretending? You should be happy, right? You've accomplished your mission. You were able to come in between my brother and me. I thought you were a good person. I never knew you were a liar and pretender. The only thing you wanted was to take all of my brother's wealth to yourself!"

"What?!!"

"What, what? Did I say anything wrong? To accomplish your mission you even went ahead and change your appearance. I can't believe it... I can't believe you had a face surgery just so you could trick my family."

"Is Ken aware of your intentions? Did he know that all you've been after is nothing but his money? You know, I thought you were different but... Seems you're nothing but her. You two are nothing but a piece of trash whose eyes have always stuck on my brother's wealth."

"Janet please, you're hurting me with your words. I've done nothing wrong here. I know, I've made a mistake by deceiving you and everyone but, I didn't mean to do that. The situation warrants me to do nothing other than hide my true identity. What I've been scared of is now happening. Just take a look at you... You've completely changed towards me just because, I'm Chloe and not Vivian. You loved Vivian but hate Chloe when the two are both the same person. I'm not a bad person please, you have to believe me."

"Look, there's nothing you're going to say to me that will change my mind. You're nothing but a gold digger!" She spat angrily at me again.

"Janet!!!" Two voices roared out her name at the same time.

It's Ken and Tiana.

"Why? Why are you two looking at me like that? Why did you fail to see the real her? She's a liar."

"If she's a liar then, I'm equally as one too." Tiana said. "Chloe is not who you think she's. She's a good person and please, stop judging her when you know nothing about her."

"Really? Not you too, Tiana. Now, you're supporting her too? I'm your best friend!"

"She's also my best friend too, she's more than a friend to me. She's like a sister! We've been together for almost 4 years now so please, refrain from saying things you're not supposed to out of anger."

"Wow! This is great! So, she's more than a friend to you. Then, what about me? What about me, we've been together right when we were kids? We grew up together! I've always loved you and see you as my sister! And now... You're choosing her over me? Ken chooses her over me and now, you're doing the same thing too."

"Jane-"

"That's enough. I do not wish to listen to anything." She cut her off. "I must have been mistaken. I thought you were still the Tiana I once know but... I was mistaken, you've changed a lot. I don't know you anymore. Thank you both for today, I think, I've heard enough for today." She looked at her brother and Tiana with a sad face and then, landed a hard glare on me before she walks out of the house.

"Janet! Janet please...." I trailed off as I tried to run after her but Ken stopped me.

"That's enough, I will take care of it from here."

"But, I-"

"She will be fine, believe me. I will like to apologize to you on her behalf. I do not know what came over her and why was she that upset towards you but believe me, I've known her for years... She never meant any of what she said. I need to go now." He said and walked out too, leaving behind both Tiana and me.

I walk slowly toward her and tried to start a conversation with her but before I could construct a better sentence, she cut me off and walk straight up to her room.

The look on her face says it all, she looks disappointed!
