Chapter 81: Chapter 81
"You know, in order to get sympathy from me, this bastard even helped me get a lot of clients. Does he think I'm happy? No, Jane. No fvcking way! With so many clients, he's actually torturing my working hours and my employees. Watch until I tell him this and see how he reacts. Can he still be so arrogant?"
Jane grimaced.
Alexa continued, "It was stupid of me to even think of repaying him for what he did. I forgot that even a rotten man can have many ways to climb a table to look high. He was clearly trying to get my attention. I swear that won't happen! It won't!"
When she stopped, Jane looked at her best friend with a faint smile. She wasn't the one who had a problem with Ray, but actually she didn't hate him either. Since five years ago, the way Alexa talked about Ray, how she expressed things about revenge and such against that man, she only came to one conclusion in her mind,
--Alexa was already too entangled in this circle of relationships.
She was already entangled in Ray's fate, without guessing where this recurring anger would lead, she could almost guess the future.
Seeing Jane spacing out, Alexa got even angry. "Did you hear me? He's even going to marry that damn Hailey, Jane!"
Jane came to her senses, sighed, and patted Alexa on the shoulder. "You have a crush on him."
"Huh? What-?"
"I've said this often, you've been trapped in this circle for five years. You can't get away from him, Lexa."
"Wtf? Are you crazy?!"
Jane was surprised by the high tone. "The angrier you get, the more right I am."
Alexa looked at Jane in disbelief. "You're even on his side?"
Of course, misunderstandings will also continued. Jane immediately explained, "Lexa, it's not a question of who's side or whose side. But you have to realize it yourself. You've been entangled with him, you can't get away from him."
This time Alexa felt like she couldn't digest her friend properly. As if she were someone else.
"Alexa, you're jealous." Jane emphasized her sentence. "You're jealous because Ray chose to go to his ex-fiancé's house and ignored you, right?"
"How is that even called jealous? I'm angry here!"
"You're right, you're angry. But you're angry because he prioritizes other people over you." Jane pinched her wound cruelly, and added, "If you hated him, you wouldn't be this angry just because he didn't reply to your text. What does it matter if your enemy doesn't reply to your texts? Does that even matter? No, Lexa. But he is important, that's why you're angry because of this."
"Wait, wait, you-"
Jane cut her off, "And you said you wanted revenge? Does one return favors to one's own enemies? Does that make sense?"
Those words silenced Alexa wholeheartedly, she had no alibi to answer.
Instead she asked herself. Why was she angry that Ray didn't reply to her text? Why did she even need to return the favor just because Ray helped her business once? Why wasn't she happy when she found out that he always came home late because he was visiting his ex-fiancé?
Most importantly, why did she think that she might have gone crazy?
She barely knew herself!
Jane saw the chaos in her friend's mind and tried to act as usual. "How about we start looking into this again?" she offered.
Alexa, "???"
"Did you ever think that maybe he wasn't pretending to forget you? That we should look at it from a different point of view?" Jane explained it well. "Abby is actually smart, we can ask her to help investigate. Women are sometimes more observant than men, aren't they? Abby might be a useful informant for us."
Alexa sighed. "If your guess is wrong wouldn't we just be wasting our time?"
"What's the harm in trying?"
"Kenric has told you not to do this, Jane. Please, don't get involved."
"Yeah, I was just trying to help you, why did you bring his name between us?"
"I don't want to discuss this anymore," said Alexa finally. "I'm just annoyed."
"You're jealous."
"No!" Alexa raised her voice again. Chills ran down her spine. "No fvcking way, Jane. No no no! I'm not! Don't expect such terrible things!"
"Whatever." Jane rolled her eyes. "Okay, back to the topic. I don't know where you heard about Ray when to see his ex-fiancé, but since you didn't see it yourself, could it be a misunderstanding?"
"You think I heard wrong?"
Jane shrugged. "Depends on how you think about it carefully."

Again, Ray arrived home in the early hours of the morning. Today was total exhaustion made him immediately collapse onto the couch as soon as he entered the house. He deliberately returned to the villa, once he found out that the place was quiet and empty, he began to miss his lover.
There were too many unexpected events today, he really almost forgot about Alexa.
Not to mention that he almost couldn't escape because Hailey's condition was quite bad. Her wound wasn't a problem, she just looked scared and depressed. Under such circumstances, he couldn't bear to leave her. After much thought, he finally asked Fran to take care of her hospitalization procedures so that someone could monitor her.
Because of his busy schedule he had missed lunch and dinner, even though previously he had thought about having lunch with Alexa. Today not only did he not notify her, he didn't even have time to contact her at all.
Thinking that, he took his phone and checked the messages.
Then he was stunned.
There were so many incoming calls. Apart from colleagues, Alexa's number reached almost 40 missed calls on top of it all.
He scrolled through the message box, and prioritized the messages from his girlfriend first.
[Come on, have lunch together and discuss something. I'm waiting for you at the Chinese Restaurant at 12:30.]
Seeing that, he was shocked.
What was this?
No need to look at the time, he knew he was already more than 12 hours late!
Shit!
He was completely over!
If only he didn't rush away and leave his phone behind, he could at least reply her text, right? But not only did he not reply, he might even make her wait indefinitely.
Ray, who felt uncomfortable, immediately made a call.
He didn't care what time it was, he didn't care about disturbing Alexa, he couldn't wait until tomorrow. He was sure she would be asleep by now, but he kept at it, calling again and again. If he didn't explain it now, he knew the opportunity would simply be lost.
Finally, after waiting for a long time, the call was answered.
He cleared his throat, "Alexa? Sorry, I-"
Tut tut tut.
The call was cut off again before he finished speaking. When the call was answered, then suddenly turned off, there were just two possibilities; she hung up on him or the phone ran out of battery.
-He obviously thought about the first option.
Holy shit!
What was he doing?! Why was he so dumb?!
He tried calling her phone again, this time he only received a mailbox. Without thinking, he grabbed his coat and car keys, sent a short message,
[I will come. Wait for me.]
Of course the text wasn't delivered, but he had already jumped off the couch and into the car garage.
... to be continued ...
